PranK 1,832 Posted July 9, 2020 Wait, after reading your posts, this is a VQ30 with the VR38 head, is that right? I'd still love a build thread if you have one?
gtx 9 Posted July 9, 2020 Hi, It is a VQ30DET complete motor with a modified VQ35 lower intake that I milled down. I then 3D printed an adaptor manifold from the VQ35 to the VR38 upper intake and got it welded together. Stupid, I know, but I did not like the VQ30DET's look. 1
gtx 9 Posted July 10, 2020 I do not really have a detailed thread. I do have on on Japanese nostalgic cars under "it all starts with an itch". As for Instagram, no I don't. I am to "old" for that 1
30ed32 66 Posted July 23, 2020 Looking good. I see the last question you asked on the other forums was about controlling those throttles, I'm using the same throttles but haven't got an ECU yet, I know link thunder and the new super expensive Haltech will do it. Have you found any other options? Not many ECUS can drive 2x DBW throttles that aren't insanely expensive.
gtx 9 Posted July 25, 2020 Yeah, the throttles are a headache. I do have a Haltech 750 and yes, I think the Link Thunder is the way to go. I was trying to use a Honda 2003 Accord cable to DBW setup to keep the cable feel, but after wasting more money on a controller, decided to go for 2 Sard cable throttle bodies (Mitsubishi 4G13 62mm is a direct bolt on). I still have to see how neat it would look as I do have to run a 45 degree aluminium bend from the intake down. I don't think I will get a lot of money for the Haltech so at this stage cable is the way forward.
30ed32 66 Posted July 25, 2020 I'll be keen to see what you come up with, I bought 2x 300zx throttles and using the rod they come with to connect them, all I had to do was slightly extend it. In that case the throttles would have to be parallel though and it just didn't fit my build so I eventually eventually decided to keep the DBW setup.. now to stomach the link thunder cost.
