  1. you won't outrun the 2 way
  2. Thanx guys, some good points there. Will check it out when he comes down tomorrow arvo. Hopefully it will be something minor like a loose plug etc and not a catastrophic failure of some component. Not familiar with CAS so will look up the net for info on that b/4 tomorrow so I will know what the hell I'm looking for.
  3. couldn't have said it better if I tried.
  4. ok, the latest is that it fires if fuel gets to manifold, but RAC dude said injectors weren't pulsing, so could be fuel pump or something electronic with injectors.
  5. Ok all you knowledgable dudes out there, my daughter's ex-beau's 200sx s14 won't start. RAC had a look and no luck, said seems to be an electrical prob. He drove it home and a short time later went to go out but wouldn't start. No forewarning. Someone has suggested it could have something to do with immobiliser. Cranks over so not sure if that would be the prob. He's having it towed to my place now to store it till Monday. Wondering if anyone has had the same thing happen? Thanx in advance.
  6. Know where you're coming from. don't know how many times I've spent hours on old machines that were really only good for boat anchors. 2 hours worth of labor was worth more than the stupid things. Unfortunately most of the time it happens to be PC's of friends. Got to the stage now that I won't bother looking at anything that's too old. Just can't be bothered.
  7. some spanners would be handy
  8. thanx jxl, will keep that in mind. There's always someone who has had their drive die on them and wanting to retrieve data. Could even make $$ out of it
  9. when Paul ask you where you want to go for dinner you can shout him a pizza. They do excellent a-la-carte (spelling??) as well, my favorite is fettucini with orange colored sauce and slightly chillied prawns. We usually start with fried sliced hot ding snags from the wood oven and olives and ciabatta bread. The only drawback with the snags is you will drink 50 litres of water afterwards. My daughter loves Cafe Amaretto, one of her favourites Oh, and a nice bottle of cab shiraz.
  10. Like sands thru' the hoursglass, so are the days of our lives
  11. Well guys, miracles sometimes do happen. Went to Austins to get a MB for a pc I'm building and the guy I know there gives me this WD mini disk that has Data Life guard on it. He said that it may identify what the prob is with the HD. Anyway, I run this cd and the bloody thing is in Japanese, so not much use to me, but gets me thinking that I should visit the WD site and it was downloadable. Anyway I make a bootable diag. floppy and hook up the dodgey hd and it scans it and says no errors with the hd. So I boot from the hd and it does a chk disk by itself (which it hadn't done b/4) and makes me think that perhaps something may happen this time. But then it reboots and there's me thinking, "sh!t it's doing the same think as b/4" but lo and behold, it boots up fine. Yey F****** Yey. So I quickly get my Bizz Wizz stuff off first and the other stuff in order of importance, just incase this hd goes silly again. Still got music to get off but that's going to take 2 cd's so if it happens, fine. If not, too bad. So there we have it guys. It may work for some of you guys.
  12. good idea. just imagining an Amaretto style with proschuto, mozzarella cheese, artichokes and eggplant. YUM They have many types of wog topping. Try one, I'm sure you will agree they are sensational
  13. not disputing the origins of pitta style bread which is "unleavened" as opposed to pizza which is "leavened". Won't disagree with you on what you are saying. What I'm saying is that pizzas as we know it is from Italian origin as described in my previous post, a by-product of bread making, village style, if you like, because they didn't waste anything, even bits of dough. You are correct in what you are saying, tho'
  14. Pizzas, in the Italian tradition was the result of left over dough that was not enough to make whole loaves of bread, so consequently they'd make these small, flat, round things and spread tomato puree over them and fire them in the ovens (wood fired of course) and eat them as snacks or appetisers. Eventually they topped them with other things and hey presto, the modern day pizza was born. We usually eat pizzas as appetisers, not usually as main meals.
  15. pizza bread is definitely leavened, trust me
  16. Us wogs don't have too much of a problem with it. There are basically 3 types of Italian dried sausage. White string, pretty much a plain sausage, green string that has fennel seeds in it and the red string that has hot capsicum or chilli (pepperoni in Italian). The yanks or probably Italian born Americans more likely, have given the hot sausage the term "pepperoni" because that's exactly what's in it. Better than calling it "sausage with hot peppers in it". It's really got nothing to do with arrogance or unrelated food. And if you have tried a Calabrian hot sausage, you will know that they are loaded with "pepperoni" are bloody hot.
  17. want a real pizza and not these sh!tty skippy ones, then look no further than Amaretto cnr Main and Hutton st OP. Real wog ones there. After all it's us wogs that invented them
  18. Many happy returns,. A Ferrari sounds nice, you could get your dad to hire it for you.
  19. Thanks for the input guys. Only ever had 1 low speed WD go down on someones pc a few years ago. Was a Quantum fan until they went feral for a while there and gave up on them. Didn't have much luck with Seagate. Looks like WD are going thru' that phase atm. Duncan.. that must of hurt Robocop.. have found the website, will see if that might work
  20. must have been a bad batch of them last year. going to set up a mirror raid this time aaaaand do my backups like I preach to others.
  21. Thanx man, I'll look him up
  22. Ok, so after telling all who I do upgrades etc for to make sure they backup their data, I have been caught big time with my pants down. Unfortunately I've gotten a bit coc*y thinking that a hard drive with a 3 year warranty would give me at least a couple of years and so some of my data was not backed up. This bloody thing is barely a year old and has totally **cked up. Was doing some graphics work on some pictures when the comp. suddenly rebooted and it kept rebooting once it reached the Windows XP screen every time and even when trying in safe mode. Did an Fdisk and it showed -273MB, that's absurd. Never seen anything like it. Have hooked it up as a slave and also thru' a usb caddy but can not even see the device, which should be drive "G", in this case. Looking for someone who is able to retrieve data off a dead drive, if that's possible and who is not going to charge the earth and also the moon. Things I need are Bizz Wizz backup files (yes I did back them up but recently only on that drive.) Some photo's of my daughters little bloke Sh!t loads of songs recently downloaded Photos of the Beddy van which I had spent heaps of hours editing trying to come up with a graphics scheme for the paint job that's coming up. Favourites, including Skyline related sites. And some DWG (Autocad) files, although they aren't that important. I doubt that Western Digital would be bothered with doing that even tho' their stupid hard drive failed so early. Any suggestions appreciated.
  23. perhaps the mods have the ability to see where a thread is heading, that's why they close it. In the case of the recent whatever it was (thank God I missed it), obviously that's what the mods strive to avoid. So if they perhaps seem to act prematurely, we should at least give them the benefit of the doubt as I'm sure their intentions are good. If someone has a beef with someone else, it's probably better to deal with it face to face and not in the public arena. my 2.5c (inflation) worth
  24. As far as the guy at the pits saying "the police should know this", he is just trying to evade the issue of you wanting something in writing. Like Liz said, there is no way the cops are going to know everything that's legal or not. I'd be inclined to go to the horses mouth, which in this case is Reno Marchesi (head of engineering) and plead your case to him. He may just allow you to list the things of contention on the permit. FFS don't make a case that you think this is all a revenue thing (which may be partly true). You could probably say that you don't have the time to be continually having to go to the pits because of a yellow sticker that the inspector turns around and says was not warranted in the first place. The contentious thing with suspensions is really how low the car sits. With gauges, it's probably a matter if they obstruct road vision or view of your speedo. Fmic, god knows. You could even write to Reno and list the items that are contentious and see if he gives some kind of requirements. DON'T list the items 1,2,3 and so on because he may just reply item 1. no permit required item 2. can not obstruct vision and so on. Make it so he has to mention the specific item in the reply and that way you can show the letter ( a photocopy of it ) to the cop if you get pulled up for those things. In the case of height requirements e.g. suspension, carry a tape measure in the car if you know you are legal and produce it to the cop so he can see for himself. If you know that things on you car are not legal or within requirements, then there's no point trying to prove otherwise.
