  5. It's all marketing... - make the dyno read low where people have money to spend for more upgrades - make the dyno read high where people are a one-time show so they can advertise & bring in more business illuminati

  9. also with high-density living & plenty of baby-boomers looking for negative gearing - the rent is quite low in comparison.
  10. 1) 38% - not all will be kilometres from node etc2) FTTP & HPC technology is pretty good. 3) Considering government has funded half the investment for a service far greater than today's speeds & no other options on the table - don't see why people won't jump on board to invest.
  11. 5g will happen as mobile data is a large revenue stream for telecom companies. No need for government intervention.
  12. $27bn capped government spend. The other half by private investors. What private investors spend their money on is not my problem.Only 30% population will be forced onto FTTN. Big woop. They can wait for the next phase.
  13. Well if money is a constraint & a solution can be delivered which meets today's needs for majority of public - then I have no issues. Spending more money to future-proof technology is ridiculous because no one can predict what's around the corner with technology. Perhaps we all go wifi - turn all the nodes Into fibre wifi hotspots & with advancement in antennas we can stream fibre speeds to mobile devices. Who can say that a physical fibre line to your house is the only future. Nothing but a big beat up by whinging opposition. Brunswick has FTTP & I bet none of them have connected fibre.
  14. Don't look at today's technology as tomorrow's solution. Who knows what breakthrough will be next. Mobile internet is getting faster and faster. 5g mobile is 1 gbps. & according to the above only 30% would have access to FTTN. And only a percentage would be far from the node etc. Everyone treating fibre like its plumbing or electricity but there are many ways to transfer data. Not to mention the advancement of data compression which would reduce bandwidth needs.
  15. What are you all crying about? The article clearly states that any additional funds will be raised from private investors & not government. So relax, your precious tax income isnt being spent. Also if you read the article instead of shouting that the sky is falling, it says: "While 20 per cent of premises will get fibre connections, 38 per cent will get fibre to the node and 34 per cent will access the NBN using the hybrid fibre coaxial cables that supply Foxtel services." HFC connections offer gigabit speeds & not the doomsday 25mbps. f**k me, everyone has turned into a telecommunications engineer/capital coordinator.
  16. Service industries are collecting more and more customer data but don't have the capability to process/analyse & ultimately act on meaningful information. The same role within manufacturing has existed forever due to processing lines having a heap of sensors/variables which can be flexed to produce great outcomes for the factory. Banking industry has mirrored a lot from the manufacturing world & as other service industries see the value in data-collection & analysis, the demand for such roles will continue to grow. However receiving big cash isn't as simple as Marketing degree + Maths degree. It all comes down to paying for the experience rather than the skillset & as it appears there is a shortage.
  17. I used PrixCar from Melb -> Perth. They transported it door-to-door. 15cm clearance a must. No issues. Happy I then used a different company from Perth -> Melb. I drove it to depot & had it delivered to premise. The truck driver unloaded the car down the street & drove it to my premise...Engine temp was also warm... Not only that, there was a scuff mark on the door (probably from another car door) which they did not admit to. no doubt took it for a joy-ride before pulling up on the driveway, didn't see him unloading as the truck was around the corner... The above can happen with any transport company as it comes down to the individual moreso than the company. Just make sure to take plenty of photos & be there when delivery occurs. I had the car delivered without me present & hence the person accepting it was not confident to challenge any marks or unloading of vehicle.
