    Oh Dear...

r33 is illegal with the current laws, regardless if the new tougher law comes out, the r33 is still illegal. Seeing as it will be the same law being broken (highpowered today and new highpowered in 6months) it will probably follow the new penalties. Essentially they just increased the penalty of the current law but with more restrictions. You are still breaking the law regardless of when you obtained your P-Plate. In your email, vicroads may have been referring to a situation like the r32. Legal today for P-Platers, but new laws it wont be, however current P-Platers will still be legally able to drive. - Patrick
  3. For the people with the trained eye, my rear seats and parcel shelf arent in the car

  5. Im researching some splits for car and also headunit. I would like to stick to clarion as i can get discounts through them. SRS1752HX http://clarion.com/au/en/products/2006/aud...9306870302.html SRS1686 http://clarion.com/au/en/products/2006/aud...9306870100.html Should i spend the extra for the HX model or will the 1686 be plenty? Oh Dear...

r32 gtst only legal skyline on P-Plates. P-Platers still drive r33's / r34's etc just take the risk of driving high powered vehicle. Depending where you put a deposit down, i think by law there is a 3 day cooling period. So you can ask for deposit back up to 3 days after you placed on. Thats just something i heard and could be wrong. Or you could explain to the seller about your situation. Cheers
  9. thanks for that, Just purchased some aerpro 4ch 8ga 600w amp wiring on an impulse. Repco had a sale! Should be enough to power 4 speakers. Cheers
  10. Are you talking about the plastic grey thing on the wall inside the boot? Did you remove the metal panel between the rear seats and boot? I dont think there will be a way to pass the amp wiring with that metal panel there... Pics would be great! Cheers
  11. Heres a link to his webpage with the eyelids for sale($149/pr delivered): http://www.midnitegarage.com/ Heres a link to his profile: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...hp?showuser=519
  12. after the long air vent on the very top of the dash, running just under the windscreen. Cheers
  13. haha i couldnt have done the shelf without seeing some of the other shelves made by SAU people. This amp mounting is a whole new story and got no idea on it
  14. Pics for anyone interested! Put some strong glue on the shelf and put carpet ontop, folded over edges and stapled in. Put in air-vents and used hot-glue gun to stick them in. Should have final pics at end of week Cheers
  15. Well i pulled out the headunit and found a 8pin? plug and wire. I think its a cd stacker wire and they just cut it off under the seats? The other 3 wires i couldnt find attached to the headunit so gave up on them. Pulled off the stock amp and will put my own amp for the rears. Cheers
  16. sorry to bump up an old thread, So the best place to put amp is on a piece of MDF board where the metal board used to be? Does the board rattle or does the seat hold it in firm? Chris Rogers do you have any pics of an amp installation on a r32 as to how you mounted it. Cheers
  17. Hey, Pulled out the rear seats of my r32 gtst and discovered cut wires. Not sure if this is factory wiring or amp wiring? Three thin wires are duct-taped at the end, and one fat cable... My rear speakers never worked when i got the car. Could that be the rear speaker wires? Thanks
  18. The original parcel shelf had 6 black clips at the very end which clipped onto metal holes located right up at the bottom of the window. I rivetted the clips onto my new shelf and suprisingly clip on like the original shelf. Located near the front of the shelf (closest to the seats) were 6 plastic clips which clipped into holes in the chassis. Seeing as there were holes in the chassis for these clips, i just place a bolt through the shelf/metal and added a bolt. The screws pop out in the boot so just stick your head in there and you should see the bolts and just add a nut. Going to place the left over carpet between shelf/chassis and that shelf aint moving anywhere . Hope that helps Cheers
  19. yep the cover fits nicely ontop of the 6mm mdf, but decided to rotor the area down to 2.5mm(orig thickness) so i can use the original clips on the cover.
  20. had a chat with the staff at stylyn. They mentioned that if you have window tint, and the window is hit it wont shatter as the tint is holding the broken peices. So the mic may not detect the hit and removal of the tinted window. Also, you can arm the alarm with the windows down and anyone who sticks their arm through would trigger the alarm. This would be useful if you at petrol station and dont want to put windows back up and similar scenario's. I'll stick with the ultrasonic and keep sau updated on my experience Cheers
  21. 9mm mdf would result in cutting a steeper angle, so it can be pressed againts the window. Also as the mdf is higher, the cover over the windscreen wiper will be higher and will not be in its original spot. I used a router and machined the wood back down to the original parcel shelf thickness (2.5~mm) and the cover clips on as stock. Im not sure on the differences between thicknesses in terms of sound, would have to ask a pro hehe ----------------- Today: Bolts were placed in the holes were the original parcel shelf clips went into. Now there are 5 Bolts and 6 clips(closest to the window) holding the parcel shelf firm. Due to the thickness of the carpet, the mdf needed to be sanded around the edges in order for the carpet to fit. Picture of progress
  22. hrmm valid points about the ultrasonic. Ill drop by tomorrow and change my quote to the m80G. Thanks
  23. after being slack, decided to work a bit on the shelf today. Decided that the clips will be crap as the board wont be holding down well. So got some bolts, nuts and spring washers to hold everything snug. Bought auto trim black carpet for $18 per metre. My bunnings did not have any foam, so its off to clark rubber tomorrow. Hopefully it will be finished by end of this week. Cheers
  24. the ultrasonic unit has 2 sensors judging by their pic. Does this get placed on the dashboard somewhere visible or where is the common place for them. I could always ask but stylyn but posting on SAU is easier Cheers
