Just got off the phone with Dr.Drift, Quoted $150 for a pre-inspection which involves: - putting on hoist - checking rust - mods - dyno run - etc He was also free at a perfect time so couldnt resist a booking, and also being half price racv's quote. Will keep people informed. Thanks
-
okay just called racv inspection. Mon-Wed: booking time is 8:30am-4:30pm Thurs-Fri: booking time is 1pm - 5pm Asked him for duration of inspection and seemed to skip around the question. Guess it depends on the car and its condition really.

After looking on whereis.com.au, its about half an hour trip to Dr.Drift. Will get in contact with him and see what he can do

My original plan was to test drive, take to racv and then take car to a friend who is a mechanic. I'll contact him today and see which test he can do. Also, Can anyone recommend an import workshop which could do an inspection located in/or around Campbellfield? Inspecting car this wednesday. Thanks - Patrick

Hrm.. Trying to plan a RACV comprehensive inspection on a car im interested in purchasing. Call up RACV and they like "$285 for inspection" and it will be from "8:30am - 4:30pm". Does this sound right? an 8 hour inspection? As it's an hour drive to the dealer and an hour drive to the racv workshop, it means I have to be up by 5:30am and get the dealer to open up the gates just for me at 7:30am.... Anyone had any experience with RACV inspections? Thanks

Yep your're right when I think about it. Depending on how shifty the dealer is in regards to tax etc, a bank check is easier to track compared to straight out cash. (could be wrong on that assumption though) Ill ask the dealer if he wants cash/check and see which one he picks. Organising RACV inspection tomorrow and we'll see how things go R34GT-t_07 a $5k drop is huge, using your ratio i could drop the price by $1900 Thanks - Patrick

Got a call from dealer, saying the car will be at his workshop this tuesday. This being the auction grade 4 1993 R32. Looking at the pictures currently, the rear shows the sticker "gts t"? isn't there meant to be a "-"? ie; "gts-t" Seller claims it to be Type M GTS-T... Just a bit paranoid I guess haha Thanks

I agree with you Flipmo in regards to the difference in care between a private and dealer seller. I wouldnt been keen on purchasing a skyline from a dealer which has had a previous australian owner. Im currently looking into 2 skylines which are being sold by dealers. One is scheduled to arrive in 2 weeks from Japan and the other is waiting at the docks. These cars are fresh from japan and have no previous australian owner. Also due to the new import laws, an accident damaged car cannot be imported. I have inspected several private sellers and found most of them had accident damage and tried to cover it up; and all the straight r32's are already modified and are selling for $14,000. I would still need to include rego, rwc, stamps etc which adds up. Through these import dealers i can find a freshly imported r32 without taking the risk or private importing as the car is already in Australia with dealer trader plates in order to take to mechanic. Going back to my original question, as the dealers know the import price of the car and demand, i was wondering how eager they will be to drop the price. Thanks

Did you manage to have any issues with negotiating the price? Or were their prices firm, even with cash? JSA have been calling me constantly asking me to come in and view their range of r32's, shouldnt have given my mob number haha. Could you please tell me the address of kamakaze? Thanks
-
What do you mean? There are other ways of paying instead of directly with cash? cheques, bank transfers, finance through dealer? Paying outright with cash at a dealer or most shops have greater leverage in haggling the price....
-
I am not requesting an import of a car form the dealer. Most dealers import cars them selves and then sell in their car yard. The cars are already in Australia with trader plates in order to test drive and take to mechanic. sorry for the confusion

Hello I'm currently looking around for a r32, and browsing carsales, autotrader, there seem to be many import dealers selling skylines. I was wondering if import dealers are flexible with their prices? I have currently found a manual 1993 R32 auction grade 4, for sale from a dealer for $13,500 This includes 3year warranty, RWC, 12mnth rego, compliance etc. After speaking with JSA imports, their warranty does not include engine and im sure other dealers would follow the same path for a r32. If you break up the costs; - According to Prestigemotorsports, 1993 r32 sells for $11,200 - 12mnth rego $560 - RWC - 3yr warranty The reason im asking this is because import dealers seem to be different to regular 2nd hand car dealers. As they would import the car close or same to j-spec's/prestige's offer? Which seems to be a small profit margin with the added rwc, rego, warranty included. What are the chances of haggling the price down? to $11,500 if paid in cash. Trying to stay away from private sellers because there is no guarantee about the state of the car. With a dealer i can always return with the dodgy car and settle any problems. Thanks - Patrick

I'll drop by with a few friends to spectate

Saw that car last saturday. Original price was $19,000 did you haggle it down? Was looking for a r32, the dealer sat inside his office eating a kebab and didnt come out...
-
ah k, thanks for that bigsully84

ahhhhhh that makes sense. First pic from japan and the second is from local dealer. Although ive seen pictures of r32's in australia with no indicators. Hence i never came to that conclusion it was part of compliance.

Im using the same Australia maps for both Destin*tor PN and Destin*tor 3. D-PN was lagging on pda so downgraded to D-3. If i can cut this map I'll probably switch back to D-PN. On another note if anyone wants a cheap GPS unit do what i did: - Buy Jornada 568 PDA for $100~ (ebay) - GPS mouse for 568 - $80 (ebay) - Memory card 128mb - Software Around $200 for a gps. PM me if anyone needs help
-
With Destinator PN for the PDA, a program installs on the pda and on your own pc, named Destinator Console. Through this program you can install maps located on the Destinator installation cd and cut the installed maps. As Australia is not located on my Destinator Cd, i had to manually copy the australian map files onto the pda, thus being unable to be cut on the progrem. There is a q2 2005 map installer floating around the net but cannot seem to find it. Reason i want to cut the map, is because it lags as it searches all of Australia for the roads. Cutting for your own state would reduce this lag. This is in regards to a 200mhz PDA and not a 1ghz PC

Destin*tor maps: http://rapidshare.de/files/9501158/Destina...a_Maps.zip.html or Emule. If anyone could please cut the australian map and send Victoria only that would be great. As I cannot cut the map through destin*tor console.

I have a GPS receiver for my pda, and it doesnt pick up jack through the window, have to mount the receiver on the roof with the magnetic base. Guess it comes down to quality. Usually pick up about 7 satellites before Destinator works.

Where is your GPS receiver located? Doesnt it need a clear view of the sky in order to pick up satellites?
