That is a bummer.
You have taken the right tact with the high boost situation I have done this and I am happy a big improvement to a stock situation.
1 point and mate, I am not being critical, just don't want to mislead any of our fellow skyliners who may wish to go down the same road as us.
When you said cut the black wire and permantly ground and leave the white wire untouched, I think you might have this around the wrong way!

this is the one I followed. I have a 94 R33 GTS-T and this appears to be the right way.
If I am wrong I apologize profusely, but I didn't want to give anyone the hassle of re-wiring!!
Again didn't want to sound critical mate!
