  1. Thought I'd upload some pics of my engine in pieces getting ready for it's rebuild. Reason for the rebuild it due to excessive movement in the crank. After pulling it down I was nicely surprised to see that my engine is equipped with the Trust 2.7 ltr kit. We also found the engine compression to be way to high for the single turbo setup. Due to the high engine compression, there is evidence of blow-by between most of the pistons. The metal head gasket show evidence of leakage too. We are going to set the compression up to get max power at around 1.5 bar (approx 30psi). Should be good for about 450 kw (wheels). We found the head to be already ported but is a pretty messy job which hadn't included a polish. This will be done during the rebuild. Going to replace the currently metal head gasket with the Tomei one. It comes modified oil gallery holes also with a oil restrictor that helps keep oil volume in the block not in the head.   2. Just to add my 2 cents. My R32 GTR is running a T78 33D turbo with Trust engine internals and a Apex triple plate clutch. I recently raced my car at the WSID which is a very impressive venue. If people aren't familiar what big single turbos are like, they come on boost approx 5,000 rpm which can make things very trick when trying to get a good start while keeping it on boost and also preventing huge wheel spin at all 4's. Anyway, it took my 3 runs to get the launch right, and still there is room for improvement. Basically, the first couple of launches bogged down to much because I didn't slip the clutch enough. I first launched at 7,000rpm, slipped it for approx 1 sec. I think I was near the 60ft mark by the time I was totally off the clutch. The turbo was just out of boost which made the car bog down and loose lots of time. So the next run I brought the rev's up to 8,000rpm, brought the clutch out till I could feel it grab, down with the throttle while bring out the clutch till it grabbed enough to move the car but enough slip to keep the turbo on boost. Once I heard the wastegate crack open I let the clutch out all the way and just control throttle till I was off and away. I was running low boost 1.2 bar which produces 250kw @ 4's (Croydon dyno readings) My best time was 12.4 @ 177 km/h with a 1.8 60ft. I was shifting at 9,000 rpm, crossing the line in 3rd gear. I found I lost time shifting into 4th. I forgot to mention, I was also running on 19" rims too. Tire pressure was not touched. I believe the pressure was 45 psi in all 4's. My car makes approx 440kw @ 4's on high boost which I haven't racing yet but will soon. I'll keep you posted. Cheers

  6. I agree with bbenny. Rebuilding the GTR engine is not cheap. If you include all the mods, custom paint & wheels you have to expect to pay close to what bbenny is asking. You have to remember, you pay for what you get. I've seen alot of R32's that are cheaper but miss the quality. If people aren't interested in purchasing, complementing or requesting more information, there is no need to post such replies to threads such as this. Take it or leave it, this is just my 2 cents.   11. I've owned both an R32 GTR and a series 6 rx7 at the same time a few months ago. I've owned my Rx7 for a number of years. I thought I would change to the very talked about GTR. It was hard to compair the GTR's engine performance to my Rx7 due the Rx7 being fully decked out with a T4 turbo setup but I made many enquiries to build up the GTR's motor and get after market twin turbo setup. After my research I saw I would be out of pocket a minimum of $35,000 for a mild to high horsepower setup. 2 months later I sold the GTR. They can keep their 4WD system! If anyone is interested how much the Rx7 setup cost. It was round $20,000 which included everything.
