What Is Normal/good Compression For An Rb20det?
ToF replied to esprit's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Well from the manual the limit value is 128psi +/- 14 so for a motor that old I'd say its pretty healthy. My RB20s comp is around 130. -
You do realise there is a forum specifically made to post your car for sale in? In case you still cant find it, here is the direct link: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...hp?showforum=56

Hi Kev, I am pretty sure I will attend, I will send you can email later. But I'm just wondering if these skidpan days have an instructor and is it a lesson or is it just 120 for you to spend half a day sliding on a skidpan with no guidance? Thanks Christof

Black smoke generally means it's running rich which is good I guess. It could be running richer now possibly because the timing was adjusted when the timing belt was changed or the AFM was tampered with when the air filter was installed. A little black smoke while pushing it is normal for most jap cars as their ECUs were tuned to run slightly rich. So I don't think there's anything for you to worry about.

Just wondering on R32s do all 4 lights come on when you turn your lights on (parkers/low beam/high beam) ? Because on my car only the outer light comes on and then when I press the brakes all 4 light up. Thanks

OK, I just replaced both fuses and the reverse beeper started beeping for 5 seconds then instead of beeping it now does a continual whine. At that time my reverse lights worked but after a short drive I noticed the beep and lights didn't come on when it came time for me to reverse. I checked the "Transmission Control" fuse and it's blown again. Stupid of me but for the moment I've put in a 15amp fuse to replace the 10amp. So does anyone have any ideas why the fuse would blow after a short drive? I'm thinking I might have the wrong rated bulbs in, so does anyone know the correct rating for R32 GTS-r reverse bulbs.

lol, Lots of people run a pod without a heatshield, it's safe.

Mines cracked pretty bad, not sure if you could fix it. But if it is repairable I might consider selling it cheaper.
-
Not sure but I think they are just earthing wires.
-
Not sure if I called it the right name but I have switch in my R32 with active something lol But no the R33 does not have this, it's basically just a lip underneath the front bar that can come out to help with aerodynamics at high speeds or something.

The reason your car won't start I'm assuming is because your battery is flat and your alarm suggests so as well. It is very common for most car alarms to go off permanently when there is little power left in the battery. They won't respond to your remote and the only way to turn them off is to disconnect your battery. So what you should do is disconnect your battery, charge it overnight, put it back in your car with your alarm remote ready so you can turn it off as soon as it gets power. And that relay you said was ticking was most likely the hazard light relay since you said the hazards stopped after you pulled them out.

Don't think think so, I believe all turbo R32s came out with viscous LSDs. I think you might be confused with a few R33 Type Ms which got the GTR "Active LSD"??
-
I'm not sure but I don't think there was any difference engine wise between a normal GTS-t and a Type M. I do know that Type Ms have extra features like an active front spoiler and 4 pot brakes on the front and a lot more that I cant remember off the top of my head. And not every hates R32s

^^Yep listen to this man I just bought an R32 but only because I love the 32 shape, the 33 really does nothing for me unless its a GTR But tbh if I had no preference I would probably buy a 33 because the prices of 32 and 33s are very similar these days and the RB25 would be better bang for your buck

No, I said I was a sensible driver, I don't do that shit. Its just I occasionally speed when I'm late (obviously where safe, although we are led to believe any form of speed kills ) or fang it to get ahead of the slow pack which may seen as "hoon" activity to the cop.
-
Very wise advice <_< Although I am a very sensible driver, no one is perfect, and driving to uni everyday in peak hour traffic can push you over the edge sometimes. If caught during those times I would accept the normal punishment as I would deserve it but to loose my car? I don't think so!
-
Umm if what you guys said was true about the cops confiscating your car and selling it... then I probably should transfer my new car into my dad's name... Anyone have any idea what is the safest thing to do since my new car hasn't got the transfer papers done yet?
-
Yer I didn't say I didn't support it because I hate hoons ripping up my street in the middle of the night but I'm just saying that classifying revving your engine anti-social is taking it a bit too far. Anyone with a slightly louded exhaust will just get dobbed in by all the old farts who think because your cars louder your actually driving at a faster speed. Also like others meantioned, if someone has an issue with you then they will dob you in and what can you do?
-
Looked in the letterbox today to find an my local newspaper, normally it goes straight to the recycling bin but todays frontpage headline was interesting. My highlights from the article are: Hmmm... what do you mean by anti-social? Hmmm... what sort of actions are deemed anti-social ey? LOL as you can see I've highlighted "revving your engine"... As much as this hoon hotline will be useful since in Frankston theres bogans ripping up the road at 4AM, to suggest simple non-hoon actions as anti-social driving is just stupid. Imagine your working on your car in the front yard, and to check something you need to rev your motor repeatedly, since you have an exhaust it will be louder than usual and your neighbour reports you How about some uneducated bogan kid runs out in front of your car out of no where for no reason (an everyday occurance in Frankston ) and you have to brake really hard? Wait I must think... hit the kid or screech your brakes/skid to stop just in time and end up being reported for hooning. At this point hitting the kid seems like an attractive option since we don't really need retarded bogan kids who just run onto the road without looking, AND I also don't need to be reported for hooning. *end rant*
