Exhaust System Plsss Help!!!!
MANWHORE replied to LeB o84's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
skylines run a bit rich when stock already. Putting an exhaust and pod in makes it even more rich. Thus more backfiring. The backfiring is caused by your bov as well. Your engine sees a certain amount of air coming in through the air flow metre. So it goes, we need to put this much fuel in. But when you release the accelerator, the bov lets the air go. So now there is this extra unburnt fuel, which goes into the hot exhaust pipe, gets ignited, then pop. hope that was helpful. THere is nothing you can do about it, except for getting an aftermarket ecu like a powerfc. -
I don't mean anyhting bad by this, but you're wrong. the o2 sensor is in the exhaust. THe airflow metre next to the airbox is a completely different thing. hope tI've helped

How to squeeze power out of an rb25de
MANWHORE replied to Skylinerz's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
cam gear, pod, timing with octane booster or something, exhaust. What it comes down to is how much do you wanna spend? add a turbo? replace the bottom end with an rb30? -
Removing airconditioning - better?
MANWHORE replied to justinfox's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
well, just an uneducated guess coming from me. Even if the clutch is not engaged, you still have another pulley on the motor. there must be marginal resistance still. I mean it is probably so marginal that it's unnoticable, but if you don't use it, why not remove it. -
well, I believe that r34 turbos and r33 gtst sII are the same. besides, with the turbo heatshield on, I don't think those epa pricks will really know.

Suspension - need some advice!
MANWHORE replied to r0ma's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Btw, I'd suggest that this thread be moved to the suspension section. Might give other people an insight, because I've noticed that it's been posted up quite a bit - people having problems with springs on stock shocks. -
Suspension - need some advice!
MANWHORE replied to r0ma's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hi, with what sik said about most jap aftermarket springs being too hard. some are hard and some are soft. Some coilovers are also adjustible from soft to hard. Tein make a very nice range of combos. Some offer a very nice ride, still with feel. Others are much harder. The problem is (i'm very interested, so i've had a play and own many many sets of suspensions, so I'm no noobie): People just go, oh, I wanna lower my car, so they buy a shorter set of springs, like king low or super low. But these aren/t designed for the stock shocks. By reducing the travel of the stockos by 2 inches, basically, think about it, i'm not being sarcastic, but the shock has a lot less travel and damper than it was designed for. What you need, is something that was designed to operate in those lower conditions. Take a look at the tein site - www.tein.co.jp and notice how their lower shocks have a much wider tube, scuh that it actually can still damp when it's shorter compared to the stocko. Just to prove my point, the stocko will keep hitting the bump stop and basically get destroyed in a couple months. sik, you were 100% on the money, new shocks are definitely needed, and probably the bushes will be worn. No biggy really, don't stress, they aren't that expensive. -
Gearbox rebuild in sydney
MANWHORE replied to MANWHORE's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hi fellars Thanks a lot for the good info. I guess it's been something that i've been dreading because I thought it was going to be very expensive. But in the long run, I think if the box is going to be fixed for $500 give or take, that'll be a lot better than buying a replacement which will be at least $1k, and may have the same problems too. Am I right in saying this? -
Hi, I was wondering if you kind people would be able to name some places that do a good job at rebuilkding r33 boxes, and the prices paid. I'd be most likely looking at the seals, bearings and synchros of the first 3 gears. SK, I remember you saying somewhere that it'll cost about $500 in sydney. Where abouts is this? Thanks

FS: HKS and Apexi Air Filter (New)
MANWHORE replied to allblitz's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
the apexi one is available on bel performance for 120 brand new willing to offer a better price? -
G day fellars, this is a serious question. I know there is the constant debate about panel filters in the air box v pod filter. I thought i'd summarise what i've found: filtration: paper filter - best, apexi, pipercross - almost as good, rest e.g. hks, trust, blitz - shit airflow - paper - shit - I find it does not rob top end power, but rather responsibility accross the rev range. pod - good when running with the bonnet off - with the bonnet on without a partition, it's slightly laggier until all the hot air is purged from the system NOW FOR MY CRAZY IDEA!!! For those of us running a low mount turbo still, why can't we just get a short pipe made up from the turbo that runs allows the afm to be attached. A pod can then be attached to that. This should prevent all heat problems, as the pod will basically be sucking in cold air from underneath the car. Is this possible? Any thing I should be aware of (I am aware of water splash, but placing the pod in front of the wheels should prevent splash). The reason why i'm wondering about this, is since bass junky is making a turbo to afm pipe, this would solve the problem of the rubber getting sucked shut, as well as shorten the induction piping. If you are going to comment, only give constructive comments. I don't care if you wanna flame my ideas. Go hit your head on a wall instead.

MANWHORE replied to pykegtst's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hi I'm wondering how much do you want for em? What's the condition? I have a set of tein type nr shock and tein s-tech spring combo. Height is adjustable. Would you be interested in a swap? -
Good spring compressors
MANWHORE replied to benl1981's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
NO NO NO!!! it does not save money they charge like $40 a shock or some rediculous price. defintely buy it and do it yourself. I was worried before, but i bought one and it's easy -
Good spring compressors
MANWHORE replied to benl1981's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
the question comes to mind - you already went to repco. The ones at supercheap are like $40. You're trying to save $10 when fuel + time wasted would easily cost more than $10. -
3mm will stop it touching throttle body in regards to will it affect the function of the brace, it's sorta like saying will installing a 1kg heavier battery do anything to the acceleration of the car? YES! but how much?

One of my wheels has got quite bad kerbing. What is the process to repair wheels? Like there are sorta chunks missing. I was thinking about wedging some metal puitty in there, sanding it, then painting it. Anyone see any problems with this? or any easier ways to do it?
-
well, it's all personal preference. I actually don't see how you can change the appearance that much. i.e. it's not going to make it look much different at all. I would also be weary of doing this to make sure the bloke doing it knows what he's doing, otherwise it won't be balanced. Get your wheel balanced after you do it.
-
lol, you blokes are exactly the same as me, just as much of a fanatic 1. No eating or drinking ever - even i don't do it 2. No one from the beach gets in. If I drive anyone to the beach, they either don't swim, and no walking in sand, or they walk home. 3. already mentioned - no pressing buttons of any sort (radio, windows are locked, aircon) 4. defintely no touching driving controls - you cause an accident, you die 5. don't complain about the ride, otherwise, you can buy your own car and drive yourself. you can complain about my daily driver because it's a piece of shit 6. no dirty people - as in swetty people etc. 7. no smoking in car EVER. If people wanna smoke, you can sit outside for 10 minutes first to let the smoke go away. 8. sex is allowed, as long as it involves me and another girl. no one else 9. don't complain about my driving unless you can do better, and have constructive feedback e.g. the other day, a lancer driver goes, why are you shifting so roughly. my response - because my clutch is a twin plate, and not a featherweight lnacer pinner clutch that you can almost launch it and it'd still be smooth 10. lol, and anything else i've missed is the rule as well. i know i'm a bit of a fanatic...but what can i say. I love my car

those pics look like avs model 5 rims. I've got the actual avs ones. are yours copies? i'd say you'd be looking at quite a bit more than 800 if they're real avs as they're quite expensive.

hi I've recently purchased a nismo speedo 2nd had, and i want to change it into my dash. The problem is, my car has done 70000 ks, and the nismo item has done 20000 ks. I'd love to pop that in, but i've heard that your mileage on your pink slip must not be less than your last pink slip. Is this true? or just put it straight in PS. I'm not a dodgy scammer. I will tell whoever i sell my car to that the speedo has been changed, and the real mileage. I just want my proper speedo installed so i can get accurate speeds on the track, instead of 180 ks. Thanks fellars.

the thing is this. you max width, with a small wheel e.g. 15 inch to have max sidewall flex. the problem is 15 inch wheels are usually 6.5 inchs wide. which is shithouse. It's like a balancing slider. if his 18s are 18 x 275, that is quite a bit wider than the stock tyres (205 or 225). if he's running nittos, the grip due to width may still be faster than the stockies even though they're heaps heavier. Perfect wheel would be some nice light weight 15 x 10 inch wheels running slicks. yummy.
