Ecu Issues R33 Gts25t - Ecu Guru Required
MANWHORE replied to turbs33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
it's not wires shorting out, which is very strange. Same thing happened on an auto car - as soon as the car was put into d, it stalled. As both ecus are mec 521, that means that the ecu is the right one (sI ecu on sI car) -
Well, there's no problem liking the noise. I like it too. But think about what you're doing. Why is the stock airbox quite? because it muffles. If you put a muffler over the pod, will it make more noise? not really. How much noise it makes will depend on how much of the box is left. you may as well just use the airbox and modify the lid so that it doesn't muffle as much
-
Yeah, nah not really. It's just that 32s have already hit rock bottom. Normally once cars hit rock bottom and have reached a nominal value, they don't really drop anymore. e.g. a 1990 commodore mgiht cost $3-4k now, and in 5 years, it'll still be 3-4k. the same with an r ugly poo. It's just that the nominal value is higher, because it still has interested as a sports car. Once r33s hit their nominal value, they'll stay there too
-
why would you bother. If you're going to chop up an airbox to put the pod inside - what's the point? pod is for less restriction. If you're trying to hide it inside the box, just use the box with a decent air filter? what you're thinking won't be advantageous to you at all

sorry matey, but that's incorrect. r33 turbo = ball bearing. The sI turbos had a metal compressor wheel. SII turbos have a bakelite compressor wheel for faster spool both have ceramic turbines - the limiting factor. Once boost is increased too much, the rear wheel pops. some r34s had the same turbos as r33s. The rest have the same turbo but a larger exhaust housing like the vg30 turbo. I have a large housing avaialble if you need it.

Gts Metal Badges (only 2 Days Or So To Get 20 Or There $130 Each Not $75)
MANWHORE replied to seriesII's topic in Group Buys
Yeah, definitely man. I hear ya. I was just thinking, you know how in asia, how once you get the mold made, producing them is cheap as. Last time my friend was over in china, you could buy gtr badges (look exactly like the orginal one) for about AU$3. But yeah, i'll be waiting keenly to see what the final price is -

Turbo To Exhaust Manifold Gasket (standard Turbo)r33
MANWHORE replied to skyguy61's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Ok, there seems to be a few conflicting posts above. I'll clear things up. I'm not contradicting anyone, just repeating what everyone has said: If you undo the nuts, you can lever the turbo off the manifold, put a new gasket in. This is not ideal, because it may kink the water/oil lines. The lines will be bent and then bent back if you do this. It may be ok. Personally, I don't do this. The better option is to just unbolt all of the lines, and then pop the turbo off the manifold. Just do it properly. It's only a couple extra steps (takes me about 10 minutes more) PS: use a genuine nissan gasket. Those squishy goo sandwitch aftermarket gaskets will probably shit themselves in 6 months -
Well, you'd need turbo to manifold gaskets, turbo to dump gasket. Since you'll most likely be taking to dump out, also dump - front pipe gasket copper washers for the banjos

Looking For More Power On Stock Rb25det Internals
MANWHORE replied to Fujiwara's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Wtiht the price of brand name turbos like the HKS gtrs, i'd take that over a highflow. Shoot Ben|1981 a pm about the gcg turbos. He hasn't had a good experience with it. A few peopel have had similar problems with other brand highflows. There appears to be a fair bit of variance in what you can get. -

Big Trolley Jack, Almost New, Very Cheap
MANWHORE replied to MANWHORE's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
All buyers have fallen through or have not eventuated. Still available. -
yeah, there's gasket goo for exhausts. ask your local auto store. If it was me, I'd probably change the exhaust gasket to save having to pull the whole setup off later. From memory, the rb30 mani gask fits if you cut up the ports individually

Sick Of Owning A Modified Car And The Associated Hassle
MANWHORE replied to MANWHORE's topic in New South Wales
Definitely Blitz. Most of my driving is just general commuting, just like everyone else. The only time I really drive hard is on the odd trackday. When you see all of these defect threads around, it just makes it less fun to own the car e.g. the recent Newcastle forshore one. e.g. if I've been working all day until 9 pm and drive home, why should I be treated like a criminal. Sure, it's a skyline and its late, but that doesn't mean i'm hooning What I meant by the comment was I don't want to sell it. It will either be kept forever, unless if someone crashes into me and writes it off Thanks for all the tips guys. What all of you guys have said is spot on the money. I was just feeling a bit down about the car yesterday. Beer Barron, I know the airbox won't make it lose power. Call me a ricer, but i liked the noise the pod made. The exhaust is definitely way too loud. You guys are right. I'm just trying to save some moeny to do somethign about it. -

No way, i'm not selling. It'll either be written off or i'll still have it. -
The back of your ps should state the conditions on it. does it say anything? I too was like you and was on ps before the restrictions came in - I'm not on ps anymore, but was.

Hey guys A few of you would have seen my car around. Externally, it looks standard apart from a set of wheels - stock sideskirts, stock front bar with lip. I have a fair few mods (usual stuff), but the main stuff that is apparent would be the exhaust (3.25" straight pipe with no mufflers and the pod filter). My exhaust is quite loud because of the turbo, but I like it as loud as possible. I'm just getting sick of the hassle and worry associated with driving my car. Everytime I drive past a cop, I get worried and quickly shut the ecv. I don't want to get defected, have to waste my time clearing it, or get fined, epa'd etc. I've thought about selling my car, but then I changed my mind and said hey, I like my car and want to keep it. I'm thinking of chucking a stock exhaust and airbox back on. It's probably going to kill power and response big time. Any of you guys feel like how I feel sometimes? I just feel hopeless and down atm. These days it seems that the law and your legal rights are one thing, and enforcing your rights is another matter - sure, you can take it to court, but you'll have to pay for it
