of course though, what he did is inexcuseable (in lighto of what I said above - that was just a comment), also, 1200 for somethign that was quoted less, and stuffing up the car totally, and damaging it is unacceptable. I know that if it was me, I wouldn't pay the invoice, and if he wished to commence proceedings against me, he most certainly would have a cross claim against him.

In his defenec, I must say that 400 for a gtr turbo isntall is fairly reasonable.

Your silastic products at hte local autostore will not work. It'll seem like it works, because it will seal when it's cold. But as it gets hotter and hotter, the pressure builds, then it'll just pop the silastic. As black32 said, your car will always break down when you least want it to or when you least expect it to. It's bound to happen that it'll be a dark, rainy night, when you're out country, with no mobile phone battery, hungry because you haven't eaten dinner etc etc. That's always how it happens to me anyways. Let me put it this way - reconditioned battery, in a boat - not a good idea (was late at night, too deep to anchor, no mobile signal). I think you get the drift.

hmmm, that's interesting. I didn't know that there was an address for knock. If someone knew what it is, that would be absolutely tops!

Project Mu Scr Rotors
MANWHORE replied to NYTSKY's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Dave, anything with the name project mu on it is pretty good as an understatement. I have a friend with an r32 with the project mu pads only on stock rotors, and the difference compared to the stock pads was phenomenal! As much as i'm sure rda/dba are an ok product, I feel it's like comparing holden with nissan. Not to mention, nowadays with the jap resellers like greenline,a nd also with our high dollar, the price difference is not a lot! -

Does The Fuel Tank Need To Be Near Empty For Pump Replacement?
MANWHORE replied to Lachlan33's topic in General Maintenance
That could be true too. When my friend was drunk, he tried to blow up a fuel can by dropping a match inside. It wouldn't light. All that would happen is everynow and then, some of the vapour above the hole would flash, but nothign inside -
I simply object to the use of etags. Tell me this. If I drive back to the airport from the north shore and back (you northies will know what I mean), going through the eastern distributor. I have to pay $3 for the tunnel, then $4.50 or something ridiculous (forgot whether it's 4.40 or 4.50). Before, I used to drive back the non toll way. It used to be a 2 lane road, 60 k limit. after they put in the ED, they cut it down to 1 lane, about 50 speed humps, and 40 k limit. The idea of building a new road, is so that you hvae 2 roads to spread the load to improve traffic. What use is building a new road if you're not going to let people use the old road anymore without it taking 3 times as long as it used to? With those etags, it's a scheme. They want you to not think about paying tolls. The other day, I was in my friend's car. Throughout the whole day, I would estimate that we spent about $20 on tolls. I said to him, f**k, tolls must have cost a fortune today. he said 'I dunno, I've got an etag'. If he had actually chucked 4.50 into the booth each time, you'd seriously think about the cost. Etag is just a government scheme like usual. Why should I have to pay to get a tag - a $2 piece of simple equipment mass produced, considering i'm paying them the tolls too. No discount either using a tag

Does The Fuel Tank Need To Be Near Empty For Pump Replacement?
MANWHORE replied to Lachlan33's topic in General Maintenance
Let me put it this way. I wouldn't want the tank to catch on fire whether it's 'full' or 'empty'. Even when it's 'empty', I'm assuming that it's not removed, tipped upside down and drained, so it probably still contains 15 or so litres. I'd hate to light thtat on fire to see how it goes. Won't be pretty - enclosed space. All that I can say, is when I work on cars, I don't have the luxury to have cars empty. sometimes they're full. When I installed the pump into my own car, I did it full - like I said, no problems. I just be careful. Battery is disconnected, and I don't go around sparking things! Oh, I also have a fire extinguisher in my workshop -
oh ok, otherwise, i was going to say, if you were in sydney, you could borrow my booster pack if you wanted

How Do We Sort This Out?
MANWHORE replied to predator's topic in Site discussion - including Ideas/Feedback & Bugs
relax guys, give him the benefit of the doubt. you only paid $35. Silent has been on the forums for a while, and posted some valuable information on painting etc. While, I don't know him and have nothign to do with him, it seems quite unlikely that he'd ruin his own name to scam you for some small amoutn of money like that. I read through the thread, and not that many people paid a deposit. maybe 10? it's only $350 - hardly worth scamming you for that -

Just How Good Can A Skyline Handle?
MANWHORE replied to Lachlan33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Sure, you would hope that the bentley would have more engineering than the skyline. I'm not saying that bentleys are good or no good, I wouldn't have a clue. But what I can say is that with expensive name cars, the ratio of engineering to cost does not go up linearly. I'm sure you would agree that a lot of the money goes into the name. Like lets just take an example. A bmw 318i. IMO, it's a piece of junk. No power. No luxuries (everything comes as an option). nothing special in terms of driveability. That car is probably the same amount of 'car' as a mitsubishi lancer 4 door, yet costs 3 times the price. -
Just How Good Can A Skyline Handle?
MANWHORE replied to Lachlan33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
The shocks are either stuffed, or they're not stuffed, or they're semi stuffed. IF they're stuffed, doing your tyre pressures isn't going to make it handle well. It'll make it handle as good as it can, with those shocks. On the street, I run 32/33 psi on both the front and the rear. -
easy as job. The 32 engine bay is quite a bit smaller than the 33 engine bay, but the turbo still comes out easily. after you unbolt it, if you bring it forward a bit, there'll be space there to take it out.

fangadores are pretty crap. Bogan cars = built bogan tough Seriously, i'd give an r31 a go. I know it's not anything exciting and looks like a fridge on wheels, but you can't expect much for 3-4k. An r31 would make a pretty nice skid if you spent 3-4k total

Kez, please reply to my pm. I'm sorta nervous.

yuuuummmm cheap oil... hey anna, if you can get us cheap oil, that'd be really cool. For that price, i'll take a couple i use oil pretty quickly. haha, it's probably because i'm messy and spill about half of it before it even gets into the engine
