Okay, well I've thought about this subject for awhile and last attempt was not pretty, because I slacked off and didn't spend much time actually thinking about the end result. Managed to snap a few good pictures. with lots of exhaust burn... So I decided to make myself a lip, but in the process I thought about how I could make it more pleasant to the eyes, as the simple 'bolt on' garden edging looks really bad. Reasoning behind Garden Edging instead of a FRP lip for example. is simple.. My driveway.. and other people's driveways Autospoiler being unavailable anywhere and expensive. I haven't really seen anyone do this with garden edging only a full lip not an 'autospoiler HR31 style' Best of all... It cost practically nothing and is much more durable then FRP or any other lip out there. and if it does come off you just make up another and give it a coat of paint. -

In New Zealand scary thing is..petrol..is..well.. So glad I am in Australia. So it was then time to Roll my guards as it was getting pretty old to strip the edges of my rims when I load the car up with people. Still have to change the springs in the rear coilovers to 10kg instead of 8kg though. Before After So now time for more low!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And a picture of what I am aiming for but better and more skid like Luse. -

So I couldn't figure out why, I kept getting misfiring as soon as the car would warm up...O2 Sensors are a bitch.. This is what was..all of the wires had touched previously and fried the whole bastard several times. Bought a second hand without even bothering to check..and got given a different size one.. And replaced with a good known used one out of one of our spare cars. Misfires are gone, and my economy is back to normal instead of 200km out of a 60L tank..pff... Catch can time.... Size difference.. Okay first things first, Had a very long thought about the Catch can placement and placement of hoses etc, so decided to rip it all out and change it all completely. Everything got moved to the back Air con removed The BoV is back on, reason being my tuner basically put it this way, if I want him to retune it he wants the BOV back on since 18 PSI is going to be pretty hefty on the turbo and he insists that it will reduce its life in about half, which I don't want to happen. Cleaning suggestions? Removed brackets near the Maf sensor, now there is a shit ton of space, going to make up a bigger size pipe for the maf to turbo and a bracket / better shaped filter backing plate / smaller panel filter. Need more low.. Guards are getting rolled tomorrow at Lunch time. -

New bumper finally fitted no more holes. Not sure about using Clear or orange Indicators though..have both.. Went to QR on Friday and...well car is now ready for QR was going to participate in Skidpan and Track but spots were all full in a few weeks i'll go back out and this time actually participate. Shakedown tiem. Almost finished, need to redo a few things Catch can setup Get a bigger catch can Get bigger Hoses, and hide piping Redo the Brake Master Lines Replace Brake Booster Hose from heater hose to a designed vacuum hose as current folds under pressure (Found out the hard way after getting onto the on ramp the other day and slamming on the brakes to a dull feeling). Make up Bracket for Overflow Bottle to bolt to chassis. Redesign the Air Filter setup to a neater style backing plate and make up air box for passenger side. Polish / Replace Fuel rail to something shiny and new before retune Replace Power steering pump Replace and move / extend power steering pump lines Remove Air Con Condenser to free up air for the Radiator Remove Viscous and replace with twin EA-EF Thermo Fans. Get rid of the BOV and recirc pipe yessss FINALLY hopping onto that bandwagon Before: And as a direct comparison of the progress = Before: After: BOV Removal kit from Jamaica... BOV gone Now need to make up new piping for the MAF sensor I don't want to move it to the cold side of the FMIC piping. But will be able to finally use a Pod Filter..no more DIY bullshit Okay, so update time. My old indicators, were made up out of some material..and well, I am not a big fan of the see through stuff so..off it goes New Indicators Before After -

New Dash board surround Going to be making a custom dash since majority of it will be R33 but will still be the same shape as a R31 just incorporating some of the stuff out of my old car. HR31 Guards Annd new bonnet My stash ready to go in soon, Stickers be gone. For a wash The new bonnet isn't exact colour match but will do for now until it is ready for paint. And also got a new bumper off a HR31 just need to clean it up Thanks guys, yeah can't wait till the tune really interested in what torque and power its going to make. Yeah its a little complicated with the 31 but everyone just expects the 33 stuff to not fit, its basically the same size just requires a bit of trimming and moulding to suit Went to see a friend of mine George, who kept trying to convince me to get on the track but after looking at the chassis rail damage that he has got, I may stick to the skid pan until I gain a further Skill set. George hangin for it Picked up my HR31 Bumper to fit onto my new lip. This is what the dash parts I got which i'll be making my custom dash out of Alright, needed to get a few things sorted. Radiator mounts were..well.zipties..so I got into the Engineering shop today and knocked myself up some mounts Changed bolts to hex. I may be selling the turbo setup to change to something different, before the retune. It was a one off custom made plenum bud I have no cold start gear, don't really need it that bad, It just means you warm up the car for a bit longer in the mornings than usual, but after that drives like any other one would. Just need to get a Boost controller unless anyone thinks that the Turbosmart Blue Boost Tee is good enough to hold 15 pound? Alright, long awaited Exhaust! Knocked this up Stainless Steel 3 Inch piping How it looks now It sounds so angry and manly D: but does sound like a tractor at idle haha but the turbo whistle is insane. But at least it now sounds like a proper RB should, that top mount mani makes It sound different for sure. Now I need to find me a decent Boost Controller and some decent set of gauges. Anyone have any sugestions? Lusunt. -

Exhaust is done. :dcool: :dcool: :dcool: :dcool: Mandrel Bent 3 inch with stainless steel 3 inch inlet and outlet Cat, into 3 inch mild steel, to under diff to cannon The Wastegate plumbs in at almost dead flat 170* angle into the dump before cat. I went under the diff even though a lot of members were saying go over, but just can't get it on the right angle, and there would be a lot of bends in that case. I still get plenty of ground clearance and at full droop the diff doesn't hit the exhaust. Now the exhaust is finished, I can concentrate on electrical side of things before the retune, need to get a good boost controller and get proper set of gauges. Alrightey happy St Patricks day everyone My weekend cracked off like this..literally.. Piping was so brittle that it kept breaking further up the line so had to replace the entire hose. Polished up the manifold too while i was at it, since it has a coating on it but coating was so dirteh Then started getting carried away with polishing.. Any ideas on Catch can placement? and where to get a good one? Then again I get no blow by what so ever, so its maybe pointless.. And anyone who can give me a colour to spray my Rocker cover with will be a genious -

Alright, there have been issues with timing and boost creep and a whole lot of other crap so I decided to take it and get it redyno'd tomorrow morning. Removed the Twin Cam badge off the grill. Lowered the rear 1/3 of an inch New LED Parker Bulbs out of my 33. Which currently looks like this Engine will be going into a R31 S1 Wagon that we recently purchased. And here is where my issue lies... Hence why the car is practically undrivable at the moment, but on the plus side, we know its not leaning out Secret spec Sparkplugs for tomorrow's dyno shake down. Car is booked in for monday to the auto electrician. They are going to tidy and hide all of this after they turn it into a new harness, as the battery tray will be getting cut out and the bashed arch will be pulled out. sooo...upon thinking about it the other day..33 interior will be grafted gradually into my 31 interior, like some of the buttons form the dash and the centre console etc and last but not least my R34 GTT 4 door Seats to go into the 31, just need to get time to whip them all apart and clean them and put the rails together. Then its off for a mod plate for everythinggg.g.......suspension, seats, diff, brakes etc. But first things first tomorrow... DYNO!ANDTUNE! finally working as it should, had to pull some timing as the exhaust is very very restrictive at the moment with quite a blocked cat and a restrictive size pipe in the rear. So exhaust is next on the cards as are many other things..list goes on and on.. - TPS was not set properly and ECU had no idea when it was going into idle, and had sat at WOT during hence the black plugs. - Timing was way way out.. way too retarded. - Idle Mixture was way too rich - Idle RPM was way too high 1100 Best tool ever Shitty photo's excuse me, it was night time Alright, this morning the car went to the auto electrician to sort out the drivers side wiring mess and the voltage drop. Clips for the Spark Plug Leads to separate them up and clean it up. Still needs to be tidied up when i get time, it was rushed. Before: What it used to look like after the battery removal After: Engine bay is very dirty needs to be cleaned thoroughly Distribution block. Wiring has been all tucked away new Plugs, needs to be tucked a little bit more now Got a bit of important work done today Before After Disregard those random wires around the newly wrapped harness, its going to be redone since it was hooked up wrong last time. Still lots of tidying up to do EXHAUST TOMORROW!! excited to hear what it sounds like with a proper system! -

and just for laughs.. Hmm Yay or nay? Luse. Update time. Got hold of.. Loving the new grill so much better and neater. Got her into the workshop tonight to fix a major issue that has been bugging me for the past 6 months.. many of you may know of it and have experienced it or who are here is a fix. Symptoms are sluggish performance, hard starts, rough idle just to name a few. and the culprit you may ask? Was always set at 8v at idle, and was completely wrong, but I could never set it properly. Now its set at 0.5v at idle, and it boosts properly now, where as before it used to pull sluggishly. This took me! 6-7 MONTHS to diagnose and fix. took it off, redrilled new holes, rotated the TPS and volt meter..tested it.. and bam.. perfect everything, Idle has gone from 1400 rpm to 1000-1100 rpm smooth idle, finally. So happy! With the car fixed, I returned the spring onto the throttle butterfly, as Its just too easy to put your foot down and lose traction especially with a harsh ride 10kg springs front 8kg rear soon to be 10kg so..this makes it more difficult to do if you fly over a bump for example, as you have to press harder to get into the pedal. Its complicated... Lusunt Update time Roof lining in baby blue fabric is in Only thing left to do is to wrap the rear parsel shelf...but in what... Alrightey, got a few really important bits done. Realigned all the panels ready for paint Went to a pick apart again.. or shall I say SWAM... and again.. It was stupid weather all day on saturday. I pick the best days :dcool: :dcool: Picked up a rear parsel shelf and rewrapped it in black leather Just testing how it will look Need to put some padding on the bottom and apply adhesive to the leather for it to be flat. Pic of my Doors Finally decided to replace the stupid damaged surround around the door. Was hard to find a good one. Old all the plastic had been ripped off. New needs a clean Luse. -

Anwhoare update tiem Interior finishing tiem Rotors and pads arrived. Flared the Rear Guards a little for better fittment Old Quiet day at work means more work...whait whaot.... New Centre Tailshaft Bearing All brand new Bushes by Pedders. Brand new Brake hoses and Handbrake Cables (Expensive bastards). Greased up to hell. Was time to sort out the rear calipers, I have heard a lot of crap about the R31 Calipers ceazing and not working properly so try to explain a few things, yeah it isn't ideal to use it for anything "spirited" because of the design but if they are done properly and adjusted properly there shouldn't be any issues, as told by several mechanics including ours. Culprit, right rear was seized on as it hadn't been used in awhile properly hence why no handbrake feeling. New Kits through them, and new Pistons and bearings = Brand new All brakes bled and adjusted the handbrake. Locks up really easy and really well, so shall be good fun now. So that's where its at. The Diff feels awesome, and the ratio made a huge difference, locks up so easily, Was going to do a full time locker but decided against as the girlfriend isn't very fond of the idea of it whipping out the arse end all the time in the wet. Finally decided to put my stickers on too. New Front Suspension (S13 Conversion) - Done New Diff finished and in - Done New Rear Brake Setup - Done New Front Brake Setup - Done. Going to put in my 10kg rear springs instead of the current tall 8kg then Drop the rear of the car around another Inch (2-3cm) Make up intercooler Ducting In Bumper. Interior needs Hoodlining to be put in and the rear parsel shelf reupholstered in black leather then maybe some Carbon fibre film to be put on the plastics on the dash (Still not sure about that one). Reseal Rear Window Replace Front Window Window Tint (Anyone know what the legal maximum is?) Window Washers hooked up. New Steering Wheel Horn Hooked up. Exhaust! finally. Front Swaybar. Rear Swaybar. PAINT! Gun Metal Gray! or BMW Gray. -

One of the main issues as usual is the Tie Rods with this conversion as they are too short for the new 40mm wider track. Replaced with Part number 'TE714' for a pintara, 20mm longer Back on the ground Issues arose straight away, with the Drift Teks I couldn't get it to fit Even with a shit ton of camber soo.... It was panel beating tiem.. Hammered the shit out of the guards Now they more than fit Now I had to tuck all the wiring away and get rid of the plastic shielding under the guard Need a flare of the rear quarters and more low in the rear. Before After Next up was wheel alignment as with everything changed everything was out of whack, even though I got it as close as I could.. This is how it was when I actually got an alignment I have gone with a semi aggressive 3* of camber on left and right. . Not...too sure I can go any lower...to be perfectly honest... Slight update. Decided to finally strip the stupid pin stripes entirely Got some of these for the bumper. Hacksaw tiem.. Bit of an update New Studs, New Bearings, New full spool Centre. Decided against a LSD as I know after awhile they wear out. Front wheels are on standard struts / brakes How much do you like front candy? annndd....got some Lower Control Arms to go along with my S13 knuckles and hubs. Going to take it all apart clean and put it all together this weekend Alright big update, Knocked a lot of stuff out this Thursday / Friday To the Machine shop. Redrilled to 4x114.3 Started with pulling all the old crap out (Benefit of not having to disassemble it all). Put my new Hubs with brand new bearings/Knuckles/Lower Control Arms in. Had to trim the shield, should have idealy knocked it completely off the hub but I didn't want to do that as I feel it wouldn't protect stones flying at the back of the hub surface. Camber tops -

Got my arse into gear Removed Rotors / Calipers off my 33 and brake master cylinder got a new top rad hose to replace old one with 20 clamps holding it from popping open. Need to decide on a colour to paint em with. Everything packed and ready to be put into the car now And a small list...or lists..of things I need to still do Ongoing of course.. Forgot to add this awhile ago Over the holidays I added a Beanie which smoked like F for the first few km's But you do notice a slight gain in performance, the turbo seems to spool a lot better after sitting at the lights for awhile with the car idling, so I'd assume that it traps heat really well and keep the turbo from cooling down after a spirited drive. Got my arse into gear even further and did a few things that needed to be done a long time ago. Fitted the new hose or..shall I say hoses.had to cut it around 4-5 times to fit it properly. Just as a comparison of the two Now just need to fit the brakes and booster/bmc to make it look clean. Will probably respray the engine bay black in the next few weeks. Finally fitted my washer bottle No more hassles by the 5.0 And decided to buy a proper lip Got quite a bit of important work done today. Dismantled Even the possums decided to join in. So here is where...it is a little problematic.. All this was cut out and thick steel was welded in place. Shane welding, If anyone needs any work done in brisbane hit him up Helped fit my friends spoiler on his MR2 Really suits the car. Nice and fresh and solid chassis now. -

Alrightey been awhile, so I tossed up the front suspension options and was going to just grab some standard struts for cheap and shove the r31 springs in there and get it rolling first but decided not to and go all the way. Tein Super Streets. S13 Knuckles and hubs, I won't be using the hubs however, so if anyone is after them let me know. they are 4 stud. Brakes out of my 33 This is what a 60-70km p/h hit can do New front Rims 18x8.5j +25 I will be using the R31 LCA for now, and if I require more camber I'll just grab S13 LCA's just afraid to go overtrack too much and get defected as I daily drive this. Been awhile, happy new year and merry christmas everyone Yes I slacked over the holidays.. Me and my gf moved into our own place in end of December just before Christmas so had been setting up the house etc and meanwhile the car came off the road and rego so I could get some work done..but I didn't even get around to doing what I wanted to do. I spent a very long time looking for one of these. Went to a pick apart.. Finally found one that is completely straight and rust free. Now the bumper sat straight without the weird shape. As the seals were getting a bit worn out, I bought 4 new ones for each door. Expensive mother fu**ers Got brand new Carpet Finished my interior off, just have the Rooflining to put in after I get it back from refurbishers Going with black leather with a silver knitting. Luse. Waiting on the 5 stud Hubs to arrive Stay tuned -

Finished up my headlights couldnt figure out why right wasn't working as I had checked all of the fuses. Apparently I missed one. These bulbs are really really bright. Did a compression test, and was nervous as I had never done it since I have had the car. To my surprise 185 across all cylinders. BCPR6ES-11 Regapped to .9 works like a charm but anyone tell me anything about how its running? Sprayed a bit of this. And of course needed to revise the stupid air filter. So I made a backing plate for the MAF and drilled a hole in it. Still just as flat But seals so much better Just need to move the catch can now and secure it with a bracket somewhere out of the way. Got started on my Door seal thingies.. Luse. -

Nvm I just found info on GCG website, so the turbo is in good condition... fewf.. only 4000-5000k's old since rebuild with 360 degree thrust bearing. "My brand new GT Ball Bearing has shaft play, and I haven't even pulled it out of the box... Another very common question that is asked daily here at GCG Turbochargers, and it is quite a simple explanation. The ball bearings in a Garrett GT turbocharger operate on a thin layer of oil, and as the turbocharger is new, this layer of oil is not present. Once the turbocharger receives oil pressure, the shaft play will go away immediately. This has not damaged the turbocharger in any way. To assist with lubrication of the bearings prior to first start up, GCG highly recommend using Liqui Moly Turbo Super Lube, which can be found by simply typing in LM-2314 in the search bar in the Online Store. Got another cable made up out of the leftovers for the block to chassis earth Got some headlight bulbs H4 and H1 for low and high beam. should be nice and bright as well as a blue tinge to it. It was time to sort out the filter issue, as I was getting paranoid. I got a feeling that the turbo has quite a bit of sideways play in the bearing of the compressor blade side. Because space is an issue..and I cbf moving the piping around for now. I decided to make a bracket. It will only be temporary I will make a better one later on with some proper material. for now Its garden Edging It being thin is what I was looking for Finished product, very very impressive results. Keeps it safe from dirt, rocks and dust It allows a shit ton of airflow. I'd assume its simular to a K&N panel Filter? So pretty content, pulls smooth as now. Luse. -

Started on the removal of the dash, running the cable through the interior. [/url] Changed all of the old gauges out and got new ones And got carried away with tidying the shit out of all of the wiring. Just a tip for anyone wiring anything in, do not use the Ignition wire as power for gauges etc. It eats so much voltage and it drops to 12.0-12.4ish Changed the hoses and removed stupid brackets and ran the hose under the booster instead of over, Luse. -

Alrightey, the front brake and suspension upgrade time. Got myself some front hubs for S13 with bearings with extended 60mm studs. Changed my mind about the GSP knuckles, found some standard ones from fleabay for half the price from a wrecker near my work. And some Lower Control Arms, ( I've wanted these for awhile, they look pretty spiff And aren't too shabb quality Deciding on which coilovers to use over the next week while I await for the arrival of my two front drift teks. Okay, a few little changes were in order.. the shitty f**ked up paint job that was meant to be properly done in a spray booth but well.. I was lied to so. New cluster with lower milage to suit chassis New Bootlid, with obviously much much lower milage as its very clean. aaannddd... New bonnet. Much straighter than the other one which hasn't been resprayed a million times. Luse. ALSO, removing the garden edging, just got hold of some Arch flaring thingy from QLD Diesel spares
