  1. Hi Paul, It will knock only on WOT or close to WOT. Can happen on a straight road and usually between 5k - 6kish RPM.
  2. Under normal operation the knock level is really low maybe 5 -12. But when it's knocking it can be between 80-95. I don't have excess oil in my pipes. Just the AFM had oil on it from the previous owner. Before he detuned it, the first run on the dyno hit 240rwkw but it would be pinging. Then do a second run straight after (no tuning) and it would hit 220 no pinging you can see the graph is slightly lower all the way through the rev range. Weird!! If you turn the car off and do it again the same thing would happen.
  3. Hey all, I have an R33 GTST. I have GCG hiflow turbo with all supporting mods. Z32 AFM, injectors fuel pump PFC EBC etc. I have taken it to my tuner and the car will ping in the higher revs The first time he said it was bad batch of fuel (BP ultimate).. so i took it back with a differnt batch. The car was stil pinging. He was adamant that it is bad fuel. (Car made about 220rwkw) To prove it was bad fuel he put in Octane booster and the car jumped up to 240rwkw with a bit of tweaking. He then pulled it back to about 220rwkw just so i wouldn't have to use octane booster all the time. Now over some months i tried different fuel Vpower, vpower racing. etc. Would always ping up top on high boost. ( i back off straight away when the engine light flashes). I decided to check my AFM and found it was covered in oil. I bought the AFM second hand and didn't check or clean it before putting it in. the previous guy must have been using oil based filter or something.. a quick clean and the car is running much smoother but still pinging.. Also i got a metal intake pipe installed, which made the car feel stronger. But it would still ping on some occasions usually the first time i give it a hit, then after that it wouldn't ping anymore. Now i took it back to my tuner and without touching the tune, the car made 240rwkw but it was still pinging the second run made 220rwkw with no ping which my tuner said that the PFC is self correcting it and pulling it back to protect the engine. Again he says bad fuel. The car has now been put back to 220rwk with no ping highest knock is 15 to protect the engine. But the car just feels lifeless.. it's not even fun to drive anymore. Now what is causing the ping? my tuner says its fuel but i just can't see how i've been getting bad fuel all this time. Could it be my cat? its a hiflow catco one 3" but the body isn't much bigger than the ends.. should i try metalcat or something. I have a 3" bellmouth front/dump pipe, should i go for split dump? My tuner says to get more power i will need cams. But i just think the car should be making more power if i can just find out why it's pinging. it's just boring to drive now. before i took it back to him the car pulled hard, but since the detune it's just crap. Now i really like my tuner, he's done alot for me, but do you think i should take it to someone else? it feels like i'm stabbing him in the back if i do.. haha. The reason i'm posting this is hopefully someone will have some ideas on why it's pinging as my tuner is out of ideas. Please help!!!!

  5. Hey All. I need to know some Fabricators in Liverpool area who can make an intake pipe for my R33 Skyline. Need it by this weekend as my car is going in to get tuned. Intake pipe must must have attachments for factory air hoses (BOV return) etc. just like the stock one. Everyone seems to be on holidays. If you can suggest some good places, then let me know. Thanks

  7. Hey Cliff, I agree with Birnie.. Definately save up and get the pfc.. i had safc for a while as well.. it was ok for leaning out mixtures which are too rich for that little bit of power, but the pfc does a much better job and then you will defiantely think, why didn't i just get the pfc to start off with. Most of the post in that link only show their peak power, which doesn't really show the potential of the pfc. Most of the time your peak power will stay the same or maybe get a bit more but the real performance gain in getting a pfc is in the drive. boost seems to come on quicker, the car revs more freely and smooth. the average power was heaps better than before the pfc was installed. It will feel like a new car. DEfinately worth getting the PFC. Also make sure you get a full tune and not just a power tune. Good luck mate

  15. Hi Sarkis, I had fuel pump, FMIC and Highflow all running on stock ECU, i'm unsure of the injectors though as i installed PFC and injectors at the same time. What aftermarket ECU have you got? IF you got pfc then just program your injectors by using the hand controller and then drive to the tuner.. that's what i did.
  16. I went the mods route. I got a fair few kms on my car.didn't know if i should sell it or mod it. took it to my tuner and he put the car on the dyno did som test on it and he said everything is healthy and if he was me he would keep the car. i said i'm worried about the kms on the car and if i mod it something mite go wrong.. he said kms aren't everything you can have a 60,000km car with a bad motor and have a 200,000km car with a much more healthy engine. then i asked him if i should do rebuild first before modding it.. and he said what for? as long as the tune is good and safe you shouldn't have any problems.. alot comes down to the tune. If you aren't chasing that much power then no need to rebuild what could be a very healthy engine. anyway just my thoughts. good luck with your decision.
  17. I can't see why they would not last, my stock injectors were fine ( well not after i pulled them out) and i had about 180,000km on the clock. Just keep an eye on max duty cycle on your PFC controller. Bear in mind that it will show overall injector duty cycle not individual. They flow test the injectors thoroughly and my injectors had something like 0.02% variance. Each injector is marked with a number which corresponds to the report. yeah careful taking out your old ones, you can even pack them in the box that your new injectors came in and send them back to them.
  18. only had them in for a couple of months. no problems with them so far. My tuner said he really liked them. It was about $600 delivered. you can also get some cashback offer too if you send your old injectors to Deathscwerks so it works out to be even cheaper.. i didn't do this though as i damaged the old injectors trying to pull them off the rail.. haha

  20. I have these injectors.. works fine for me. i have 240rwkw and max duty cycle i seen is 68% i highly recommend them, they are high flowed injectors. They are straight fit.. just like nismo.. fit on stock fuel rail, and comes with flow report of each injector. Alot of Drag supra's in the states use them check out their website.. http://www.deatschwerks.com/ Also if you do a search on deatschwerks on any car forum, people seem to say good things about them.. just stay away from Venom injectors.

Nismo Fuel Pump, 2. 240rwkw at 16psi 3. can't get any easier, pull out old pump drop in new one.. comes with mounting bracket nothing else to buy or modify. also comes with relief valve as well. Noise - a slight hum can be heard but only if you really listen for it, otherwise i don't even notice it. staring issues - no problems at all 1/4 tank - pump comes with sock filter just like the original.. had the fuel light on , and the car was still running fine.
  22. Could be a bad batch of fuel.. i had similar problems although my knock levels were in the 70's .. put some octane booster in there if you are really concerned until you can book in a time. Also get a mate to watch the hand controller when you are driving.. My mate had high knock levels in his car and we found out the levels were fine when he was giving it, the knock levels only jump up when he changes gears, so he just put it don't to some mechanical noise or something.
  23. good luck man, i heard JEM do great things.. Definately keep me up to date with how you go. Oh i had to get new coilpacks as well as i couldn't boost past 10psi before without misfiring... There's always something!! but the car made 220rwkw on 10psi.. now no misfire but damn fuel problems!! Definately hook up for cruise.
  24. thanks man, nah my knock sensor would have been flashing at me.. so you would have beaten me.. hhaha. It runs fine when i put V-power racing in it.. but when i put BP ultimate it pings badly.. i drove up to the shell there to get VPR but they were out of stock so i went back to BP to get ultimate, when i pulled out, that's when you saw me. Gave it a hit on the way home and the light was flashing.. it was tuned on BP ultimate as well. haven't taken it to wsid yet.. wanna sort out this pinging problem first.
  25. yeah i like keeping my car looking stock.. catch a few unsuspecting foes. Plus if i get owned hard, i can say yeah my car is stock.. hahaha i would have given it abit but being double demerits and all i had to restrain myself. Tuned by Unigroup Engineering, 240rwkw on 16psi. gonna take it back when i get some good fuel in there hopefully i can get abit more power.
