I expect I will learn about alot of shortcomings in my brakes, suspension, tyres ..... well the whole car really ! Being my first time out I wont be laying down very good times, therefore not really fussed about what I am using this saturday in the way of pads, fluids etc. Pretty keen to just get out there and have some fun, I will worry about improvements for the 23rd of March.

I left a S1 autobox at japco when I got them to do my transmission swap, give Frank a call and tell him I said you could have it !
-
PM me his number !
-
you mean a mobile guy Steve ?
-
spoke to GSL, really nice guys . They said A1RM would be better than HPX also, but they said dont bother for this saturday unless I can get my disc rotors cleaned up from the old pads.
-
What brake fluid and pads do you recommend Brendon ? , If I change the pads I dont want a new pad thats going to demolish my rotors . I guess sourcing them this week could be a struggle .....
-
From what I hear they dont care, dont think the track will do any timing so if you want to know its up to you to have your own device ? I dont have one yet, I will have an action camera on the front maybe but thats about it.

I think given my car isnt heavily modded for power and its all standard braking, it will be a remote chance. Brake fade will get the better of me before I boil the fluid me thinks... I will get some better pads and do it before the March 23rd track day i reckon, just see how it goes this saturday !

Im no expert but I would expect if your rear wheels are not shimmed or locked and HICAS isnt functioning, there is a fair chance they are moving about all by themselves......

gates open at 8:30 from what I read on mallala's website, whether that actually is the case could be another thing ? I will only be on street tyres etc, I am hoping they can put me a in a slower group (preferably something with honda civics, toyota corolla's, greyhounds or something)

Anybody flogging an oil cooler off for cheap ? I have PM'ed =premo= for his kit he has in FS ....

Hey Lads, So this saturday I was going to front up with my 33 to Mallala for a practice session, to be honest the only motorsport event I have ever done was a motorkhana . Can anybody give me some insight as to how Mallala run their track practice sessions ? Any advice for a novice ? I am going to do an oil change before I go, taking my air compressor for tyre pressures, wheel brace to keep check of my wheel nuts etc. The car is being trailered there and home so if I break it I will call it a day rather than try and fix something there.

was this the MotorMate shows GTR Legend episode ? , was okay . It was funny listening to the UK tuners and how they described what they do to get horsepower , they seem to still talk of things like "Chipping" and "Cold Air Inductions" etc . Definitely a far cry from the mods people are doing here ........

Hey guys, I have a brand new set of Pirelli P7's (still have labels on them ) and they are 215/55 r17 94v http://www.collierau...rsale/tyres.jpg , I am after $600 for these Pirelli's which ends up $150 a corner, pretty good for Pirelli's huh ? Then I have ROH Boost R 17" rims that are in pretty good knick, the car is parked in a akward spot so I could only grab a picture of one of the rims tonight (will update with more) but the two front have Altimax HP 215/45 r17's and the rears have Rapid p609 215/45 r17 with about 85% tread on the both . One of the rims pictured http://www.collierau...forsale/Rim.jpg . I am after $800 for the wheels as the tread on them is almost new and there is barely any gutter rash on these rims at all . PM if your keen, I am interested in grabbing some cheap stockies if anybody is getting rid of some so the car has something to sit on if you buy the rims.

okay so the tyres are actually Pirelli P7's and are 215/55 r17 94v http://www.collierautosport.net.au/forsale/tyres.jpg , I am after $600 for these Pirelli's which ends up $150 a corner, pretty good for Pirelli's huh ? Hey Guys, Just seeing if there is any interest in Adelaide for my ROH Boost R 17" Black rims, they have good tyres with probably over 80% tread. I will get pics up tonight and confirm what they are. I also have a set (brand new still with stickers) of Pirelli P6 17" , pretty sure they are a 245 profile ? (once again will confirm tonight and provide pictures) I will be looking for something alot wider , probably deep dish JDM look .... Edit (Just realised you cant to EOI) , I was hoping to try and get about $1400-$1500 for the lot or about $800 for the wheels and tyres and then about $700 for the Pirelli's..

The End In Sight For Falcons And Commodores
Ricky_Bobby replied to God_speed's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Man 55-60k a year for what used to be considered unskilled work is pretty good, if you look back through history when Japan started making cars and exporting them the yank market took a huge turn. Australia would have seen the same if it wasn't for the government puttin all the import duties and taxes on imported vehicles . Yes they are supporting local manufacturing and a workforce , but is it really doing the economy much good ? . Why is it only now that commodore and falcon facing the chopping block ? Why has Holden cruze only come to fruition in recent years ? Holden and ford should have been succession planning for a more economical and viable long term option over a decade ago . Instead Holden and ford got comfortable , rested on their laurels relying on the Australian public to keep buying their flagship vehicles at what I believe is an inflated price now which reflects in poor resale later . Nismoid has a good point about the unions , they are just as much to do with the failings of manufacturing as the companies do . They have fought hard to get these workers the kind of money I believe isn't justified . Production line workers on 55-60k ? What ! . I officiated at a rally event in SA last year , sitting there next to me at flying finish was a Holden worker . He was driving a brand new company provided Calais , was on 60k a year plus OT and all he does is drive a flaming forklift ! FFS ! I asked him if he thought he was on a better wicket than he should be , given he is earning more than most of the local IT market , more than graduating doctors , more than low ranking police officers or entry level school teachers . His answer was naturally no , he felt the money was justified . The unions have held manufacturing over a barrel to get packages like this , what did they expect when Holden and Ford finally say the locally made models can't be sustained any more ?
