Yotis We were quoted $895 for the eletric anti-rust thingy but it would have been free if we bought the other "protection packages" for $1,800 in total. I just can't see how it can work. The sales person couldn't really explain how the paint protection worked, just showed this special coat on top of the clear coat. I too use Meguiars for the Skyline so now I will have to share. Cheers, Al

Thanks for the replies and that's what I thought too. Use old fashioned tried techniques like washing and waxing it. The salesperson told us to use baby shampoo as car wash was too harsh - no more tears hey? Anyone heard about the electric gizmo attached to the car to change the polarity so rust cannot form - that one was a good one. Just gotta make sure now the old Meguiars get used with my own elbow grease - at least it is white so not so bad to keep clean. Cheers, Al

My wife just bought herself a new car and whilst at the dealers they offered us a ?? package covering interior protection, paint protection, fabric protection for $600 each and anti-corrosion for $900 - we said no. Comments made were that with the paint protection there is no need to wash, polish and wax the paint - all you should do is hose it down then dry with a chamois. Claimed that polishing and waxing harmed the paintwork. Anyone come acroos this or is just one of those after sale marketing hype sales pitches? Also, we were told that this manufacturer (not Nissan) doesn't make dash mats at all (so needed the interior protection) because the cars have air bags !! That one really sealed up the "no thanks'. Cheers, Al

F1 - anyone know of any live net audio or video???
Red Sky II replied to Chris32's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Try this link instead http://www.f1-live.com/en/ then navigate - not too sure if it has actual video and audio streams but it does have a text based lap by lap description of the races, qualifying and a great source of information. Cheers, Al -
Messiah My Series II has one also and is constantly on - can't seem to find an on/off switch. My Mazda 626 Coupe import had one also (way back in 1990) that some kids stole out of it thinking it was a sub or something. They were called air purifiers from what I remember - was your car a smokers' car in Japan as they seem popular with smokers cars. Don't seem to do much though apart from use up power and take up space. Cheers, Al

Complete Parts list for R33 RB2.5/2.6

Yes please as well to [email protected] -
Liz, the Banks usually won't do a private deal as they have a duty to get market value for the car otherwise they can face action by the original customer - market value doesn't necessarily have to be a high price though. If you can establish market value and offer them that then they may be interested otherwise it will get too hard for them and they will auction it. I deal with banks and auctioneers all the time (do to me being a liquidator by profession) so have had dealings with them. If you find out the who the auctioneer is PM me as I may know them (there are a few in Perth I use all the time and get on well with). Good Luck Al

funkymonkey - Windex on the paint work??? On my older cars I used Windex on the windows (of course) but sometimes it got on the paint work and on a white car, I noticed the complete colour change - it went really white leaving colour differences. It was almost like it stripped away something - hopefully just the dirt but if you start using it suggest doing the whole car to get an even colour. Wouldn't recommend using it often though. As for cleaners, Meguiars (all products for me) with a chamois dry using the drag technique mentioned in this forum before. Armourall?? Some detailers won't use it claiming it damages the plastic. I have the Meguiars equivalent but haven't tried it yet. Mag wheel cleaner is great. Does the electric buffer make it easier and produce a better result - was thinking of getting one? Cheers, Al

Agreed, great job from the guy and gals involved in putting this together, although when I was first there nobody was around (but you all came back soon). Cars looked great and Congrats to Paul on winning the dyno comp. Cheers, Al

I had Simex tyres put on when my car got complied and they were around $195 each for 235/45/17. This was in October last year. Not bad to date, haven't seen too much wear, fairly good in the wet but back loses a bit of traction on wet roads (which just adds to the fun). Cheers, Al

I received a manual (copy of the JPNZ one) when my car got complied, so perhaps try some of the guys that do compliance work in Perth as they should have them. The retail price for the JPNZ ones are around $50. The manuals are okay but don't really say too much - typical owner's handbook. Cheers, Al

I would have one as well, with the SAU logo on it

Hey guys, so where is everyone?
-
prestige motorsport, are they good?
Red Sky II replied to SXY R33's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I agree with the others. I imported my R33 through Geoff and having never done it before, it turned out quite easy in the end with Geoff assisting me all the way. He always answered any questions I had and liaised with the necessary people. I live in Perth but I never actually met Geoff so there is no real issue with not meeting the guy. The car was better than we thought when we got it here with a few good surprises. Recommend him and if I need to import another car, will use him again. Cheers, Al -
Anyone bought a car through Prestige motorsport?
Red Sky II replied to dorgano's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Yep bought mine through Geoff - can't recommend him highly enough. He does what he says and his service is refreshing in this day and age. -
Picked mine up on Saturday and THANKS to all those that made it happen They look awesome Cheers, Al

Totally agree - what do they get out of doing crap like that, let's face it what are they going to do with them. Although not bad, I had my tyre valve caps (all 4) stolen not long after I got my car - they were shiny red metal ones that were on the car from Japan. Its not that they got nicked (can't believe some people would even bother) but that someone got that close to my car without me or anyone else knowing. That is what worries me but thank goodness they did nothing else. Needless to say just have plain black plastic ones from Big W on there now. Cheers, Al

Not sure about it being on Channel 10 but ESPN on Foxtel have it. Channel 10 do show the Champ cars though. Yeah there are two comps - Champ and IRL as IRL was formed when CART couldn't reach agreement with the organisers of the Indy 500 and wouldn't let them race there. Some drivers then split from CART and set up IRL in competition (looks like most of the top drivers from a few years ago are in IRL). From what I have seen IRL is mainly oval track racing including the Indy 500.

One of the few non IT guys but it gets worse Name is Alan and I am a liquidator. Yep, senior insolvency manager for a 2nd tier accounting firm in West Perth. I am the one who comes in, closes ya down and takes everything. Fun stuff !!!! I also do nicer stuff like reconstruct businesses, consultancy work to make them more profitable, etc

I agree with the comments made in relation to education. Going back a fair while now when I got my licence but I remember it well. Things like I braked too soon when approaching a red light (could never work that one out), having to be in 3rd gear going over railway tracks (same speed but lower gear), etc, etc. The test itself was a joke that's for sure, like Niz said. When I got my bike licence my teacher got me to ride down Albany Hwy on a Saturday morning and said to me that if we make it to the other end I am ready !!!! Cameras, booze buses, etc have helped reduce speeding and drink driving though. Speeding without being an idiot (eg weaving, cutting people off, hard braking, etc) I don't see a problem with but driving whilst drunk is bad (although used to do it before booze buses, etc). The biggest problem I find is the attitude of drivers - a lot of drivers out there are just too aggressive all the time and treat every drive like a race, it isn't. The complete lack of respect and thought for other road users is what is lacking as well as driving skills (that you don't get taught). The number of people driving who treat their cars like safey cacoons with no idea of what is going on around them is scary. Fatigue and inattention causes a lot of the accidents and we are human and make mistakes - even the best drivers in the world make mistakes. Does anyone here have any thoughts on compulsory checks on cars when rego is due - like in the other states or overseas? Safe cars may also help reduce the toll.
