  1. Ah yes, the stock brakes are a bit... meh. Whilst Brembos are great, don't necessarily limit your search to them. 4 piston Sumitomo's are a cheaper option which work very well. R34 Skyline will bolt on (with a little dust shield grinding). There are heaps of Brake mod threads on here, definitely do your research. There's an examples available on FB Marketplace: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/3161399493884748 I don't mind dropping my jerky website at all! Not sure if there are rules on promoting your small biz or not, but check us out: www.bcjerky.com.au Use discount code LOYALLOCAL for free shipping ? P.S. Front bar is looking mint. I have to pick up my hand waving game to match yours - arm out the window hah
  2. Check out MRC Dyno in Seven Hills, Tucks Rd. The owner, Mark, is a champion. Heaps of awesome JDM cars there, they definitely know their stuff. Fully itemised invoices etc. My small business provides them with beef jerky Highly recommend. Plus, one of their mechanics (Adam) has owned 3 or 4 M35's previously, so knows his way around. Ahh fair ah no worries, chuck us a wave if you see me still when you're on the bike haha.
  3. YES - that's the one! Nice to e-meet you haha. Your stag looks very, very tidy. Haven't seen you for a while, I've been running a bit late (every damn morning). I don't know about fast, but I've recently had a whole lot of work done on my stagea including replacing cam sensors, fixing engine oil leak and turbo leak, new 'flowing' exhaust - finally my car is running as it should. Feels completely different to drive, more usable torque and powaah. Yep I see way more c34's on the rd around where we drive - do you see the silver (or maybe white..?) c34 on Sunnyholt Rd? Usually has tyres strapped to the roof! SPOTTED: silver C34 turning left onto Abott Road, near Bunnings Seven Hills Thursday 6th Aug, around lunch-time. Tried to catch up but was held up by a red light.
  4. I see a very nice white M35 Stagea on Sackville St/Lucas Rd (Blacktown/Lalor Park) a few times a week on my drive into work. Gave him the wave if I spot him early enough (and get one back). Legend.
  5. Hi All, Cleaning out the shed, putting these springs up for sale. I've since swapped out my suspension for BC coilovers, so these have to go else the missus will literally die of a fit. Part Numbers: 54010-RSM55, 55020-RSM55 $200, local pick up only from Seven Hills, Sydney NSW. Cheers
  6. Apologies for bringing up an old topic. My drivers side front fender flare flew off on Pittwater rd a few weeks ago. I'm struggling to find a replacement, just thought I would check here if anyone is wrecking an ARX or have any spares they would like to sell me? Amayama wants north of $400 delivered. Part number is 63810-AQ100 I am aware of the few ARX's wrecking on eBay at the moment, but they have either been sold, or the fender flare is glued on so the guy wants to sell me whole guard. Long shot, I know. But cheers anyway
  7. White ARX on Quarter Sessions Road, Westleigh over the weekend.
  8. I can confidently report I have no more stalling issue. Drove it around all last week, also drove it up to Port Macquarie and back on the weekend (8 hours). I have a high idle, and RPM surge/drop when turning on a warm engine. Car isn't coasting great when engine is warm either, seems to hold in gear before changing up gears for a better roll. Replacing throttle body to hopefully fix this.
  9. Last weekend, my mate installed the BC BR coilovers on my ARX. Using out of the box height and dampening settings (for now). Pulled out the Nismo springs which I'll put up for sale later on.
  10. Throttle re-learn did not help. Though it looks like the throttle body has been sprayed with carbon cleaner (when the ignition coils and spark plugs were replaced. Pretty pissed off) so we're thinking it's possible the circuitry is now buggered. Hunting down a replacement now.
  11. Have a read of this thread and decide whether this accurately describes your issues. The part numbers are listed there as well. Another useful thread which might point you in the right direction, pending your specifics:
  12. Nice one, I'm very jealous. I've seen that car in person (sold Josh the rims, he's a ledge), it's awesome. My car was also stalling in similar scenarios to what you described. The most recent stall left the check engine light on (the previous few stalls did not) so my mechanic was able to plug in and get the error code, which pointed to CAS on bank 1 (I think). My car also struggled to turn on after stalling, 5-6 seconds of cranking before it would breathe into life - is this the same as yours? If so, I ended up replacing both sensors for $405 from a Nissan dealership (Hornsby) and I haven't had any stalling problems since. I think there was a recall on these sensors (look for a silver circle sticker next to your VIN plate. Mine had these recalls, but still failed anyway lol).
  13. The cleanest the old girl has been for a while.
  14. Spotted a black M35 on The Boulevarde, Dunbogan NSW yesterday at around 1:30pm. Gave the stagea wave and got a wave back. Think I have seen that stagea around the Laurieton area previously.
  15. What is that supposed to mean? "You look like a Volvo driver" ?? hah
  16. Yeah I had an error code, which pointed to the sensors, hence the replacement.Got the car back this afternoon so haven't really had a chance to test drive and see if all is OK yet. We haven't touched the throttle body - though I have read that thread where the butterfly get's filthy as. I believe this was the next point of troubleshooting if my stalling problems persist! I also read that thread about the throttle re-learn - no harm in giving that a crack. I did notice that everyone's idle seems to be significantly lower than mine! I idle around 1000-850rpm in D with foot on the brakes at the lights. Other people are reporting a normal idle of between 500-650pm! I kind of just assumed my idle RPM was normal, sheeesh.
  17. Digging up an old thread. My '01 m35 had the 'stalling' issue when decelerating (twice), and once when when coasting in a car park lol. Also had an issue starting the engine when the engine was already at operating temperature; the rpm would rev up to ~1800rpm, then down to 1000, then up 1800, then down to 1000, back up to 1800rpm, then slowly down to a normal idle. Just had 2 of the sensors replaced from Nissan Hornsby, $405 for both. Hoping this fixes the stalling problem, it's definitely a bit hairy when you lose power steering and you gotta stamp on the brakes!
  18. Hi all, The suspension in my 2001 ARX is cactus, shocks are gone. Previous owner has put in NISMO springs I think (red springs?) so it already has a lower ride height than standard ARX - which is fine for my use. I thought now would be a good time to invest in some BC's. Purchased these from JustJap - they got delivered in under 24 hours, I was pretty impressed. Ordered at 5pm, arrived at 4:30pm the next day! As I understand it, I read I need to get a couple of 3mm washers to go in-between the fork for the rears? Did anyone have more info on this? Was there any other tips & tricks that people were aware of before these bad boys go in? Also, does anyone have any recommendations on height/stiffness settings? I'm looking for a comfortable-ish ride, not too harsh, and also not too low - there are a lot of speed bumps around these days - it'd be nice not to have to lebo roll everywhere Just hoping any recommendations on this may save some time faffing around on my end. Thanks all!
  19. Turns out it was a misfire on cylinder 3. Ignition coils all replaced, and spark plugs.
  20. Cheers Dale. Hopefully I will get some time to check it out over the weekend. mmmmm Not really.. just a normal amount of white vapour-like smoke which disperses quickly, not something I would worry about. What was the issue with yours in the end, Duncan?
  21. G'day Dale. Thanks for your response. I've read about the troubles with afm's, but symptoms sounded a bit different to mine? ie no errors in the dash and car isn't stalling..? Still, afm is a good thing to have spares of, where are ppl getting theirs these days? Wrx sti compatible or is the verdict out on the cheap Chinese versions? Btw, I took the car for a short drive yesterday. Seems the shudder/hesitation kicks in around 3000rpm now.. So much more drivable lol
  22. Evening all, Was driving home on the F3 (M1, whatever!) tonight and the just noticed the car 'shuddering' at around 2500rpm. Not a heaps violent shudder or anything like that, but definitely noticeable. I managed to creep my way up to 110kmph, no worries, but anytime I gave it a bit more gas and it would drop to fourth revs go up etc I would get the shudder again. I nursed it back onto Pennant Hills Road, and did a bit of testing and confirmed, definitely shudders at around 2500rpm, irrespective of higher speeds etc. I know this is about when the turbo starts boosting, but driving the car under 2500rpm seems fine. Can hear the turbo whining per usual. No errors on the dashboard or anything, idles fine, engine doesn't stall. Thinking possible leak somewhere/vacuum lines. Wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar to this before? Trying to narrow it down.. bit dark out there to go check lol Car is a 2001 AR-X, stock except zorst., 123,xxx kms. Cheers
  23. Gee, you don't live around Coolongolook do you??
  24. Finally; after just over 3 years of m35 ownership, I have experienced first hand my m35 be mistaken for a volvo - other than the consistent jibes from family and friends in the know, of course. I was driving home to Sydney from Port Macquarie on Sunday afternoon and pulled into the Caltex at Coolongolook to refuel. Conversation occurred between me, my missus and the service station attendant who was some nice young bloke: me: "Pump 1 please mate." young bloke: *glances out the window* "Ahh yep, the Volvo." missus: *snickers* me: "ahhh yep, that's the one..... Well actually, it's not a Volvo, it's a Stagea" young bloke: "IS IT? Oh, sorry about that" missus: "I can't wait to tell all your friends about this!!" young bloke: "Sorry I didn't realise." me: "It's okay, a lot of people get confused." young bloke: *walks to the end of the counter to take a closer look* "Ahhh see, I couldn't see the front of the car. I glanced out and could only see the side windows and assumed it was a Volvo!" me: "haha yeah they're similar. My car is an Japanese import.." young bloke: "Yeah I know what a Stagea is! Usually you don't see them as clean as that. You get a few around here, but they're all slammed and banged up. Does yours have the 26 in it?" me: *finishes paying the man* "nah, this one's a VQ series, 2.5 Litre turbo." (didn't use the engine variant code as didn't want to patronise the bloke). young bloke: "ahh cool man. Have a good one." missus: "I'm telling everyone we know." I'm assuming the guy has only really seen beaten up, paddock bashed c34's, as he still looked confused after taking in the full view of volvo-esque m35. Anyway, the missus definitely got a laugh out of the situation.
  25. Spotted a white AXIS turning onto the Pacific Hwy @ Asquith yesterday, bit after midday.
