Hello all.
Names Rob and ive had a love for the skyline since an early age.
I was drawn to the culture and history of the car in all its variations. To me it was the underdog that shut up the european fanboys. It was the car that got banned from Bathurst for completely demolishing its competition, The skyline was and still is a fusion of brutish iconic looks alongside high technology. With the unveiling of the r35 and the marketing campaign at Nürburgring.....well..... its still an icon and a middle finger to the more elite breeds.
I am first and foremost a driving enthusiast, so id be happy to take almost any car though the hills to get out of the rat race and get a bit of freedom. But my favourite car is and probably always will be the skyline.....as a whole.
The car i lusted over in high school was the r33. My first car at 18 was a silver r32 gts that was a long shot from the gtst i had wanted and the bloody thing had a very erratic engine that liked to shut itself off when ever it felt, regardless i loved the car and actually enjoyed the sluggish N/A engine. I read somewhere its more fun to drive a slow car fast that a fast car slow and because i never had an inkling to go to the track ( probably due to an inferiority complex of my auto N/A r32 i kept to my own tracks in the hills of southern victoria ) it was indeed fun to push her a little.
Life has kept my funds going towards my main passion ( muso......and you think cars are expensive! ) cars have not been something i could invest time and money into just yet.
Last year i purchased an r34 gtt for a daily with plans to slowly create my own example of what i think the skyline should be....especially focusing on handling. Ignorant teens have said things like "fully sick"...........i a cringe at their naivety on the roots of the skyline and i get angry for the pretty boy of the 00's that had tarnished its reputation.
I take great pleasure in driving, music and nature..... i put the three together on a daily basis and i do this with my R34. Its my escape.
I have a strong desire to get serious about hill climb or time attack in the near future so i think any plans i have for my car at present or the car i own in the future will be based with this in mind.
Thats about enough of my ramblings.
Ive been an inactive viewer of SAU for a while and its been of great help with interior mods and other little jobs. I hope to contribute in a helpful way in the future. Ive pulled apart interiors of R34's many a time so i guess if your in Melb and need help shoot me a pm.
