Yeah, I was seriously considering it man.. But I really needed the head asap as I can't bear to have my car just sitting there + Not that I don't trust you, but the head would have come from Brisbane etc.. It could have been damaged coming here and if anything happened I wouldn't be able to just send it right back if you know what I mean? Unfortunately I have already sold the NEO Head to one of my mates for his R34 but I do regret not keeping it.. I realize now I could have kept the head and just got a thicker Head Gasket to compensate for the higher compression but at the time I did not think of that Oh well, That may be a task for my project motor which will be started soon -

Ok guys, update time! This week I managed to get the last bits needed for the head. I bought the Intake Manifold Gasket and the Exhaust Manifold Gasket Now all I need is the Head Gasket, just need to wait to see how much HeadTorque takes off the Head so I can buy the appropriate thickness Head Gasket Oh, and some ARP Head Stud goodness! In other news, I also bought the correct Head this week! I managed to chase down an RB25 S1 Head and I've dropped it off to HeadTorque just now for a check-over More updates will come then I am seriously contemplating buying Tomei Poncams with my Tax-Return in 1 month though Thanks for reading this far guys! Hope it's been good so far -

I still have it haha But then I would have to get a NEO Block apparently as it would be too high compression for my 25DET Block -

So update time for those of you listening it at home! I took my Head to HeadTorque (Would highly recommend them for anyone in WA!) on Saturday They took the Head out and measured it all up.... and..... It's all good! yaaay The head is perfectly straight and not warped in any way. All the Head needs is to be taken apart, serviced, cleaned up and the installation of fresh bolts, so I thought I was all sweet Key word there being "thought" but as with anything, something had to go wrong The Head I had originally bought, turned out to be a NEO which meant it would have too high compression to be attached to my block So I am in the process at the moment of finding a S1 RB25DET Head, which I should be picking up this week The guy who is selling it was nice enough to allow me to get his Head checked out before I purchase it, so that's awesome news as I'll know exactly what I'm dealing with In other news, I have half of my Gaskets. So now I just need The Intake Manifold Gasket & Exhaust Manifold Gasket which I'll be getting this week and then soon I'll be getting some ARP Head Studs and a Head Gasket (Thickness depending on how much HeadTorque takes off the Head). Here are the Gaskets - Cam Cover Gasket, Cam Shaft Seal & Half Moon Seals (Not pictured, but you know what they look like!) -
Ah ok! That's fair enough and swapping might be the go! But I'm in WA and idk where he is
-
Ok, cheers for that info guys! Next question is, is it going to fit on my S1 RB25 block? Without any issues? As I know the NEO has VCT etc
-
Ok mate, will get that tomorrow!
-
Oh ok, I just got the bare head as you see in the picture, didn't need the other stuff so I think I'm unable to tell
-
I think I may need to ring Nissan and give them the code, they should be able to tell me
-
This is the only photo I have unfortunately as the head is at the head shop now -_- probably not gonna help
-
Hey guys, I have a S1 R33 with a S1 RB25DET. Recently I did a compression test on it and it says low on compression. So I bought another 25 head which I plan to swap over. However upon taking it to a Head Shop today, they have stated the head may be a NEO 25. On the exhaust side of this head it says 5L83 and I'm just wondering if anyone can confirm this is indeed a NEO? Also, is this going to now not be compatible with my S1 RB25 block? Just because this new head is straight and in good condition. Cheers for any help!

Bit of an update.. sorta Yesterday I bought a 2000 N15 Nissan Pulsar Sedan! I couldn't resist another Nissan and I only paid $1,400 for it and it was in pretty good condition Excuse my mate's Cef -Cough- Camry -Cough- This trusty steed will be taking my 25 Head to HeadTorque tomorrow, so will update then -
Awesome build man! Read it all and it's definitely come a long way Good to see the potential of a car when in the right hands! (Unlike when you previously bought it) Keen to see more updates as they come mate

So now came the nerve racking part, the compression test! All looked ok up until Cylinder 6 came up, it came up with a reading of 90 This was the one I was most nervous about as I had been reading that is usually the cylinder that plays up as it doesn't get as much airflow going to it and gets the hottest So we did a wet test and dropped a little bit of oil into number 6 and the number still stayed, which means it could be the Valve Stems or a Head Gasket So that was some good news at least! So I ended up buying a new head that day from one of my good friends Visually it looks ok and no cracks etc can be seen but I am taking it into HeadTorque on Saturday to get it checked over, serviced and re-machined Will be buying the new Gasket's from Nissan hopefully this week or next and then will get the head done I will then be swapping my heads over! Good news is I get to put a better Head Gasket on and some nice ARP Head Studs Will also hopefully be buying a Pulsar this week too so I don't have to drive the Skyline as much I will update this on Saturday Although I am upset, I am looking forward to this as it will be a good learning experience taking the engine apart etc and it's good to have a qualified mechanic there to help me learn things along the way!
