    Racepace...

Hi, My GTR will be in OZ very soon Got the go ahead from DOTARS last week. In my first thread in SAU about 3-4 weeks ago I asked fro some advice on where I should go to get it tuned when it gets to OZ. I would like to take it to Racepace, from advice from a few people who have had good things to say about them. My only problem is... I cant seem to find them listed on the net, phone book or www.whitepages.com.au to book in a slot for a tune. Would like to book it in now as I suspect that they would be booked out weeks in advance?? Can anyone please give me some info on Racepace (phone number - web site) What do you think the damage would be for a tune on the 4W Dyno? I also do not know what ECU my GTR is using. I would expect it is not stock, running single T78. Would this cause Racepace any problems (would they be able to tune just about any ECU from JAP?) Also... anyone that would advise of a diferent place to go... and why. Thanks in advance.
  3. Update on my personal import (R32 GTR) Received BIG GO AHEAD letter from DOTARS tonight 29 DAYS from date of application... Not so bad considering other tales from this thread. Only about 15-25 Days untill car is in OZ (hopefully) Then I will see (SAUvic) guys on the road. if everything goes well... (fingers x'ed) Oo oO
  4. I also bought car in AUG 2003, but have had it stored in JAP for past 10 months ;P. Sent application in to DOTARS mid June... I have paid FOB in Japan, still waiting for DOTARS to pull their finger out! Application states that it should take 17 days MAX. I called on the 17th day they said that they had completed the application 5 days earlier, but were waiting on "de-reg" papers from my agent. 2 days later I call again and got probably the most sex deprived bittch in the universe on the other line, I ask "have you received the paperwork you require for my application?"..."yes" (In my happiest voice) "cool... so my application is OK then, is my application finalised?"... (she replys like she just had hot coals stuffed up her moot)... I said we have rteceived it! We havent looked at it! (OK then... someones not getting any sweet, sweet lov'in) ... How long can I expect to wait? Middle of next week... maybee. Then, she fcuken hung up on me. Even though they are a government body, I paid $50.00 for this service, not so upset about the wait. But if this were any other company where monies were paid for a service that bittch would get the arse and I would make sure of that! That shit is not accepable these days. My agent has said once approval is received it should only be 15-20 days B4 car is landed in Melb. (fingers crossed)
  5. Do you like the R32 GTR? Your $35k would get a very, very, very nice GTR.. and depending on personal opinion (and it's a close battle) I still think that the R32 is a better buy and better looking, between 32 and 33. R34 is king obviously. (you have to spend more bucks to get the R33 looking sexy) You could even save some of your cash and spend - $28k - $30k (still getting a top R32) keep some spare for a nice set of rims, performance upg's or just save it!
  6. Yeh, it's going to drink. I had factored this B4 purchasing car. This may be a good thing, as I do not want to clock up the km's like I have in all previous cars. I averaged a service (5000km's for my old turbo) every 2.5 - 3 months. Would love to see that extnded to every 4.5 - 5 months. (probbaly clock 5000 in the first two weeks though... can't wait:)
  7. Still for sale? Original? How can you sell it so cheap? RRP $2000+ yeh?
  8. Origiunal Quote from BlackRobin: Origina Quote from Funkymonkey: Hi, Cup Holders... RICE... I think so. More so the ones that say Type-R (Type-R cup holders..thats an extra 10kw right?) I have brought these quotes from another thread in the Vic Pages. My forum etiquette is novice, is it OK to to do this? And, not that I don't beleive Funkymonkey... but there must be a way to get rid of them... they even say HOT/COLD cup holders? I really would like to get rid of them once ar arrives.
  9. Hi, Would like to close this thread... Thanks to all for your responses, comments, advice and welcoming words. Will keep information up to date with progress of car getting to OZ and any future works that "may" need doing. Response to QuickR33Melb >> Car is an 89 "old skool" model. Compliance should not be a problem.
  10. Car came from private yard. Not auction. I kind'a got a bit over excited when this one came up. I only viewd photo's and got some information from importer. (I was looking through import lists for over 7 weeks and probably viewed 60+ R32 GTR's... 5-6 looked really nice) I think most GTR's I looked at over the 7 weeks were stock (alot looked shit and run down) some have got way to many mods and roll cages etc... those looked like they would have been thrashed and subjected regular race use (not for me) One thing I did notice on 95% of imports in Japan, they all have those stupid cup holders (sorry if anyone has some) I know the first mod I will be doing is getting rid of them from my dash (very RICE) Price varys from $800000 YEN to $2500000 YEN depending on condition, you can get it landed in OZ from $16000 to $25000. I'm no expert, so don't quote me. But most were stock or lightly modified, like I said. I got very excited when this one turned up:) Crossing my fingers, I should have asked more questions looking back, still happy with purchase.
  11. Not sure, I would expect it is still running standard internals. GTR's are said to be quite happy running high boost and pushing 500hp. Is this urban myth? I've read only good things about the RB26DETT and it's internals.
  12. Original Post by Interloper Done some of my own estimates (new price, please correct me if I'm wrong): Trust F/M + pipes ($2000ish) GReedy T78 33D kit ($5500ish) GReedy Oil cooler ($600ish) Adjustable CAM gears ($600ish) TEIN coil covers ($2000ish) N1 exhaust turbo back ($1200) GReedy Boost Gauge 60mm ($150ish) GReedy Oil Temp Gauge ($150ish) GReedy RPM Gauge ($150ish) Profec-B Boost controler ($500ish) Nice slightly off-set rims (personal opinion) ($1800ish) Brake Upgrade ($600ish) Now install on all these parts + 4W dyno tune ($3500ish) Grand Total $18750:) I paid $15000 (car only, add $7000 for shipping and all Taxes + compliance)
  13. $1,130,000 YEN on the day exchange was 75.554 or something (crap rate) so I paid close enough to $15,000 AUS For the car. (happy with that... thats what I call bang for your buck) Then all the other charges required to get car to AUS (not to much at all really)
  14. Done... I forgot to put it on the last list. Slotted fronts and drilled rears. Open in other app. and zoom in and you can see the brake upgrade (rotors anyway, not sure about clippers, look like NISSAN standard?)
  15. This should be interesting... I would like to get feedback on this car. So far I've got mixed signals coming in. If you could reply with on of the following and a short explination on your choice. 1. Would not touch it with a 10ft. pole 2. Nice - but will need to spend $______(please guess what you think) to get it reliable for daily driving. 3. Nice - dont think it will have many problems, nothing unexpected for a 15 year old car. 4. Love it, can't wait to drive it (who cares if you need to spend a few bucks) it's a GTR. (thats my choice) List of items on car already:)this is also why I got this one) aftermarket parts on this thing would total $9000AUS+ (I think, correct me if I'm wrong) I've put some more pics in. Trust F/M GReedy T78 33D kit GReedy Oil cooler Adjustable CAM gears TEIN coil covers N1 exhaust turbo back GReedy Boost Gauge 60mm GReedy Oil Temp Gauge GReedy RPM Gauge Profec-B Boost controler Nice slightly off-set rims (personal opinion) And probably more stuff that I will find once it gets to OZ. Probably have to buy some pods for it Alpine MD head unit (big deal) but I wont need to worry / spend money on tunes straight away. No turning back now anyway, I made my multi-million transfer already - like that feeling, even though it's YEN.. it's still a million dollar car yeh
  16. Money, yes. But would rather keep it where it is. It's meant to have done 70,000km (you can see this on one of the pic's above) Resprayed, I thought so. All the other Skylines I have seen prior have the same colour engine bay as the car. Not to fussed about that though (It's a good paint job... well I think so anyway) What is it that makes you think it's done 150,000km+? Is it just because it dirty? Is there something in the pic's that looks sus, worn out or damaged? Has anyone ever done this? Whats the process? Just a form or do you need to get the car checked out at Vic Roads?
  17. I am a bit concerned about the condition of the engine bay. But it's amazing how much you can suddenly trust someone when you are in love with what they are selling. I hope and I'm quietly confident that (won't name) but well respected importer in Melb. is telling the truth and no fudgging receipts or anything like that. Can anyone let me know if you can spot any "obvious" warning signs about my engine. (looks like alot of exhaust has been leeking from the headders onto the turbo? I'm anything but engine savy. A little knowledge is Dangerous!)
  18. I'm not to sure why the "pods" are not on. (I hope they put some on B4 delivery) The purchase of the car comes with papers and receipts for engine rebuild by ENDLESS only 1,000 km ago. That was a big factor for purchaching this car, so I'm (praying) that the garage that it's in at the moment now what they are doing. I have more pics of the car on idle and everything looks sweet. How bad could it be anyway? Don't some on the hard tuned GTR's run with no pods? (last attached pic of engine bay is not mine, just reference to pods question)
  19. I think I've uploaded some images of my ride. Can you let me know if it worked.
