Found out the turbo let go and sent bits of bearing through the motor... expensive, but cheaper than fitting another motor. Looking for one in WTB section.

I suppose I should change the oil more regularly than every 25000 km, that way lifters don't get full of shite and then over extend the valves. Let that be a lesson to all, a $1000+ lesson. surely you should all contribute to this lesson

Just been quoted $1000 to fix if it has dropped a valve seat. It isn't a valve spring. Hey aren't these things meant to redline at 7500rpm?

And with the amount of money you seem to be spending why not just buy 2 or 3 different engines and try them out Why the hell did nissan mount the FJ so far forward? Surley the car would be better balanced with the engine set back a few inches....

replace the valve springs for sure, mine just failed

DR JOSH - I have a big fat selby sway bar in the front of mine. Definitely bigger than standard.

Stick with the FJ. It revs to 7500 stock. My RB20DET broke valve springs and that hasn't revved over 6800. The RB is a massive engine too. You just need a bigger better turbo

get this, I went to flow tech EFI to run the car on the dyno again and all of a sudden the motor starts running shit. Then it starts knocking intermittently. So he has a look and says, 'you've broken a valve spring, I'll have it fixed on monday' . So in short I haven't got the dyno print out yet. BTW, I did 0-100kmh in 6.1 seconds today with a bit of wheel spin. If I can get it to launch with just a chirp I am sure I could do 5.8 seconds.

I got some from NZ. Ring up some wreckers in Auckland and get them to freight them over. I was on my honeymoon when I got some for my first MR30. They got crushed in my suit case. they were $30NZ each side.

What time and melway ref? I don't go to Mill Park very often. Michael, Sounds like you go down kurrak road down the gorge and then on yan yean road then Kinglake-heidelberg road (or diamond creek road)

My link computer is cheap and seems to do the biz, the hand held controler seemed to make the tuning of my car take less than 2 hrs from crap to good. But then again I don't know much about ecu's. Disco- Yes it is a 2 piece that has been shortened by 2". Only problem is that the yoke should go in an extra 2". Dunno why the knob end had it shortened. It cost me all of $25 to fix 1 uni.

I see heaps going up sherbourne road and karingal drive in Eltham. They seem to come from Bolton street. Also see a heap on main road. I run from St Helena to Eltham and back 4 times a week and also ride out to Yarrambat, Hurstbridge, Diamond Creek and home once a week. I see a heap of Skylines out there, not many are unmodified. I know for a fact my car has the same uni's as a VK commodore six. I lost one on the way to work and limped to a machanic who recognised that they were from a VK. (but my car is heavily modified from original)

Big ones..... lol Dunno, they are standard for the R200 diff. I have never seen another to compare. Alls I knows is they is as smoooooooth as silk now

how much suspension travel does the rear end have? Looks real low

firstly let me just say that he changed the plugs and gave it a routine service fitted the supra FMIC as low as possible to get more airflow, recoed the drive shafts (fitted too) then tuned the car, then did a horsepower test. This all for the sum of $420. I was pissed about waiting but for $420 he has looked after me. And the dyno result is............................ you'll have to wait because he can't print it until he gets some paper for it which is Friday. Sorry

and you'll have to wait again as he still hasn't finished.....

bwahahahaha I thought those old fahioned FJ's must have had some historically different operating system on the wastegates..... you know next to the hand crank and 6 volt generator

And the result is........ I have to wait until tomorrow. Notice how I put the mechanic's name when I first started this thread so you can all see how long it takes.. He's a nice guy but I am sick of riding Kangaroo's to work.

$22 per side for the 1/4 window rubbers. Can't wait to have a car that doesn't whistle at 80kmh or above
