Coincidentally just booked this in for 10 people just before I read this so obviously no issues at all! I'm starving right now so going to be hard to wait until Friday... Cheers for that God_speed

We have a small work outing coming up in the next couple of weeks and this sounds like the ticket, we're not only sold on the solid menu but the possibility to see mean as skylines parked outside. Wouldn't be an issue to accommodate 10 - 12 people by the sounds of it?

Sorry to revive an ancient thread guys, I'm just wondering if bolt on flares like this are legal in NSW? Anyone had any experience? -
First Timer Needing Info On Advanced Driving Facilities
pdot replied to Lolrick's topic in New South Wales
Hey Mick, In a similar situation to you, I had been on the track a few times and had my share of time in the car park / powering out of corners however I never really felt comfortable in my knowledge of how to handle a rear wheel drive car, especially with controlled over steer so signed up for a driving course. It's a bit pricey but I went with these guys for drift school: http://hitecdriftschool.com.au/ I reckon it has given me a better understanding of how to control a a car when oversteering, a lot more confidence and techniques to practice which will definitely translate well over to the track. You use their fleet of cars which is great, there are no power poles to hit as you're on the skidpan for a full day and every time you are in a car you have an instructor, all of who were awesome, know their stuff and encourage you to commit and give it a solid crack. I only did the level 1 course which might be a bit basic, however once I get a bit more confident and have practised a bit more i'll definitely head back as it was an awesome day -
what is the colour and prices for bonnet, grill and headlights? Cheers!

Camber Arms , Wheel Fitment R32 Gtst
pdot replied to pdot's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Currently it is a 255 on the 10" which is currently sitting on the rears. It has 225's on the 9 at the front but was hoping to be running 235's (F) and 255's ®- 17 replies

Camber Arms , Wheel Fitment R32 Gtst

Cheers #niZmO_Man. What does buying new guards involve? Would that be something along the lines of finding GTR rear guards, installing them and then going through paint issues etc? Seems like a lot of effort for incorrectly sized wheels? Apologies that this has turned from a camber arms discussion into a Wheels and Body discussion for those thinking that this might now be in the wrong section....- 17 replies

Camber Arms , Wheel Fitment R32 Gtst

Sorry about the threads. Somehow created two when i was starting it and couldn't seem to delete one of them so that's my fault. Definitely don't want to go down the hellastance route so it's sounding like there are two options: 1) 9" rims - definitely will be a lot more cautious about recommendations from the shop going forward - will cost approx about a grand to get in some matching rims and look at selling the current 10" wheels. 2) Widen the guards - what are the options here? Bolt on flares? pulling the guards? Cheers- 17 replies

Camber Arms , Wheel Fitment R32 Gtst
pdot replied to pdot's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hi 260tech, thanks for the input. The car is primarily only for the track and does get some road use (about 50/50). The only reason new rims were needed was due to a crack in one of them and I think the rims recommended by the store were wider so that’s what we ordered and have hit this problem. As the car was primarily for track use I thought a degree or so of camber wouldn’t be a bad thing so was open to this idea. I’ll have to check how much clearance is under there and get back to you about that one. I am hoping there is enough clearance and that raising the rear slightly along with a little bit of camber might be the ticket but as you said I need to check the clearance and I’ll get back to you on that one. Any recommendations on acceptable camber levels? I wish I could just fork out for new rear wheels and have already used the opportunity to get some rims which suited the car so selling and rebuying a smaller width might be tough and will definitely be a last resort. Thanks again- 17 replies

Hi Everyone, Thought I would see what the masses thought before we came up with a plan of attack / started spending money. Recently we put some new wheels onto an R32 GTST 18X9 on the front, 18X10 (with 255’s) on the rear based on a couple of recommendations and it turns out that it was slightly too aggressive and didn’t quite fit on the rears. We managed to get the guards rolled out an extra 10mm, wound the suspension stiffness up and managed to get home but I would still not be confident with any big knocks. What I was wondering if installing rear camber arms would be a good solution to our problem? We can probably raise the rear end slightly as well which should help a little bit so if camber will sort this out are there any reccomendations on camber arms? Currently been looking at Cartel and GKTech. Other option is to flare the guards which I’m not too keen to consider at this stage. Cheers!

Rookie Question - Jack Stands, Where Should They Be Placed On My 32?
pdot replied to pdot's topic in General Maintenance
Thanks for the responses guys. It sounds like the only real option for my jack stands are the sills on the side of the car so will proceed with that. Cheers! -
Hi Guys, A bit of a rookie question but thought I would ask here before I do anything I regret. I'm just wondering where the best place to put my jack stands would be as I need to get under the car to do a bit of work and don't want to rely on a jack alone. I've taken a look around and I can't seem to find any definitive answer so just asking here instead. This is currently where I'm jacking the car up from: http://imgur.com/J8MgZWu And am now unsure where to place the jack stands, I was thinking in this area here: http://imgur.com/YwbQOz6 And to zoom in a bit more I was then thinking about placing them on this little ledge (just to the left of the red line), would this be ok? It's at the start of two beams which run down the length of the car but I don't think those beams themselves are strong enough to hold any weight as they do seem a bit soft. http://imgur.com/0LE7OwN Cheers for any help in advance

I should probably update this for others like superguy as I couldn't find out much about JLM / Japlink online. To sum it up, great guys down there who know their stuff, genuinely helpful and all at a decent price. It's a bit of a trek for me to get out there as i live in the city but definitely worth the time. My initial visit was just a general service and getting the brakes done, all happened very quickly to get me on the track in time and they even gave me a free / quick post race track check up to help diagnose a few smaller problems afterwards. From what I could see around the workshop they are capable of carrying out some substantial high quality work, I only hope they don't get bored of my lower level r32!

Hey Guys, Thanks for the response, I'm in the inner west but have just been finding these places from others previous good experiences on this forum and a few others. Distance to the mechanic doesn't really factor for me, I would rather drive a decent distance to someone who knows their stuff. Will be getting in touch with JapLink today, would be great to get out on the track this thursday!

Hey guys, New NSW member here, have just joined skylines Australia with an R32 which has been a long time goal for a road legal(ish) track car. There is a lot of information available on these forums so I have been searching for some reputable skyline mechanics in the NSW area and thought i would run my choices by you guys: Will be hitting up JapLink in haberfield, has anyone had any experience with these guys? I haven't managed to find so much first hand experience with these guys so keen to hear what you guys think about them? I was also looking at leading edge motorsport in Petersham but have found some less than favorable reviews on here and various other forums so have decided to give them a miss. On a review of my own accord, I stopped past hi tech mufflers in darlinghurst to get a few exhaust issues looked at, they seemed to know their stuff, charged me a good price and had me in and out of there in a day. They seemed to really know all their cars and seemed generally interested in performance cars, I will definitely be going back there for all exhaust related issue from now on. look forward to getting into skylines more in the near future
