    Cost

Cost of new water pump in Repco car park @ 4:30pm on a sunday in Warwick - $100. Squatting down and having photos of my exposed arsecrack posted on the internet (dirty hands, no belt) - Priceless.

    Cost

Cars and motorsport are not cheap things. A drift day at QR can be pretty cost effective, Morgan Park track days are fairly cheap, if your car is set up for it, QR sprints aren't too bad either. Neither are skidpan days. The Dutton rally on the other hand, is over $1600 to enter. Plus tyres, plus accomodation, plus everything. I know skidpan days well, so that's what I'll talk about. All you people who say you "can't afford it" or its "too expensive" should think about the following. I am planning on having a full skidpan day every 3 months from now on. Say its $180 to enter. There are 90 days between skidpan days, so you only have to save $2 a day, to afford a full skidpan/time trial day every 3 months. As far as other costs go - you don't go through a set of tyres, its not hard on the clutch, or anything else for that matter. I probably wear my tyres more on a few mountain runs than a full skidpan day. It's a very cost effective low risk event. Yes something on your car might fail - but it somethings going to break, it's going to break no matter where you are. $2 a day for an awesome full day event (and lunch!) is very very cheap. You can run almost anything, its a fairly even playing field - stock VL's to GTR's, doesnt matter. Morgan Park track days are also great, more tyre wear if you don't have your wheel alignment sorted (i didnt), but you can go out there in a road car and have a blast. Low entry cost, but it is a bit of a drive. $2 a day.....
  3. wanna swap cars for a run on the day james?
  4. Dont let kpyz drive it then.
  5. ah yes i did, I was wondering who that was.
  6. It looks like a new 4wd volvo wagon in the flesh, and some sort of wierd jap camry wagon we didn't get from behind. Go the sleeper.
  7. put a manual gearbox in (seriously) $1000 on the cheap Go to 16x7 or 16x8 or 17x7 wheels with good tyres. $500 - $5000 Good brake pads, good fluid $300 + Suspension - $1000 - $5000 (lowerd springs, aftermarket shocks, swaybars, strut brace, strut tops) Headwork, cam, chipped ecu - $2000 Depends what you mean by faster. If you mean "a tiny tiny bit faster in a straight line, which youll hardly notice" the do the exhaust, intake, wind the timing up. If you want to notice the increase but still be slow, do the head cam and chip. If you want to make the car safer, faster through corners, on mountain runs, in time trials, and heaps more fun to drive - do the brakes and suspension. If you can afford to do brakes and suspension, and still have some $ to make it manual and up the power a little bit, do it. Ive gone down the brakes/suspension path, with exhaust/intake/timing, and I am the quickest @ the Mt Cotton Driver training Centre time trials, mainly against R33 GTS-t's. Leave the brakes and suspension stock, and no matter what you do to the motor, the car is still going to suck unless you are going straight ahead.
  8. I see people saying they are in, but where is the $?

  13. 7:30am Sunday 15th August. Mt Cotton Driver Training Centre, on Mt Cotton Rd, Mt Cotton. $175 gets you 4 hours on the Skidpan, catered lunch (which is really nice) and 4 hours on the LVMA. Lunch is available to spectators at $11 per head. Skidpan = Miniature race track covered in water and diesel. Go totally sideways in a safe environment with very little wear on the car. Instructors go with you and will also drive your car if you want, they are there to teach you how to slide. You only need to have an instructor in for 1 run, then its a free for all. Result on the road - you'll be able to control/save your car in more 'situations' and be much more confident. Throttle control is a big winner. There is also a time trial on the skidpan. LVMA = Big flat 150m x 150m bitumen area which is partly wet. Tracks are set out with cones. There is a slalom, motorkhana, and main time trial. Go ballistic against the clock and push the limits safely. There will be trophies again for 1st 2nd and 3rd. PM me for payment details. Spots taken... 1. slip 2. Gary1 3 Kpyz 4. belgarion 5. 18. Last time you tried to come to the skidpan your wheel fell off on the highway en route, that wasn't very bland. that was pretty funny, bad, but funny.
  19. yes you do.
  20. theres going to be some hot competition in the time trials. i can't wait.
  21. looking like mid august. will hear back from Sideline this week. kryz- the skidpan is the thing next to the kitty litter that you ended up in.
  22. In a couple of months. full day, 16 spots, same as the last one, price might go up 5 or 10 dollars.
  23. i thought u were 17. but then again, that was a while ago. me and time = no good.
  24. as a note. city - almost purely alcohol. many fights. booze + men. valley - lots of alcohol, but also a lot more happy people on drugs. if you are in the right place, a lot less agro than city. some pretty dodgy areas, but also some pretty good bits.
  25. chaos - you cant even legally get into a club! family - does NOT have cheap drinks. water is $4. try the RE (the main uni bar) for cheap drinks, or city clubs on a thursday night. valley is much better place to be though.
