You will be a better driver if you learn to corner/slide/brake/apply power in a controlled environment - like a skidpan, driver training centre, or track. The 31 on the skidpan below set the quickest time round that track last skidpan. There were 8 R33 GTS-t's there i think. A turbo isn't the be all and end all. I want one so bad it hurts, but driving a slower/inferior car taught me a lot more than driving a good fast car would have. You need to learn to drive, not win red light drag races.

id say go 17's for tyre choice and price. 17x8 would be a heaps better option than 18x7.5.

ive never had a drama with cops at any cruises ive organised. You never know though. I don't think there would be a problem as cruises like this are always well behaved.

R31 for sure. Just look at the inside of a ser 3 skyline compared to a VL. RB30E's vary, mine is crap up top, some have good top end, some are more powerful for no apparent reason (bloody kryz). Which is faster will vary car to car. In my experience, the 31's drive better than the VL's overall. Wheel selection is a pain, but R33 aftermarket non turbo, and silvia wheels fit, so this makes it a bit easier. Mine has been really reliable. The diff is fine. I did two or 3 skidpan days before I even changed the oil in it. It looked like someone had crapped in the diff when i dropped the oil. Did another 3 skidpan days and its fine. Used a diff treatment and full synth fluid and its quieter now. In 4yrs Ive had the following breakdowns: Clutch slave and master cyl, Dizzy (probably the bloody CAS), water pump, water pump gasket, and power steering pump, and its had a seriously hard time. The only reason I would buy a VL over a 31 is if I had a blind loyalty to holden.

Just a side note: Just because a bike's speedo reads 310kmh, doesnt mean its going over 300kmh. So if someone claims they pulled over 300kmh on their speedo, they may not have really cracked 300kmh. Hayabusas have been known to be "a bit optimistic"

I stick the Skidpan ones there for a few good reasons. I am making a thousand dollar commitment when I book a skidpan, so exposure and turnout are very important. These thrusday night cruises have so much response they will stay up the top in the events forum anyway. Skidpan threads can have quiet times but need to stay up there. If I have some time I will try and come. Drove my car for the first time in 3 weeks the other night to get some food.
