Good story Matt, very interesting. Saw your car the other day at Supercheap Currimundi. Nice.

thanks dude. crooser has a 33 GTS. He put the stocko turbo parts on with a link ecu. Not too bad, nothing to write home about though. 6psi max. Now he has an original RB25DET in there. Using the turbo motor has the advantage of a lower compression ratio. You can use more boost, and tuning will be more relaxed. Trying to tune a high compression n/a motor with a turbo on the side of it will be nowhere near as flexible or forgiving as an original RB25DET. If you want some real hp, i say go for the turbo motor as its much easier to get hp out of with boost/turbo/tuning.

You have to consider the other differences as well. 4/5 stud hubs, diff, brakes, gearbox, bodywork etc. You may be better off just buying a turbo one, as it will also have better resale than a converted car, be much less hassle etc. R32 with a turbo/fmic/zorst/ecu could be a suitable replacement.

New rb20det cranking but not starting! Help!
slip replied to [R31][Silhouette]'s topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Check that you have the fuse/fusible link wiring all correct. I blew the fusible link running off the positive terminal of the battery on my 31, itd crank but not start. Removing certain fusible links in the bay also did the trick. -
so how long have you been in your casual job @ woolies, and how much do you make per week there? what will you be doing to ear $500 net/week in january? I wouldnt be optimistic going to a major lender with that application. Your employment situation isnt helping you at the moment. Keep your VN for a while, get into a job and stay there, $500/week is enough for a young bloke. Heres a better idea than getting a loan.... Save as much as you can, and start investing it in things that give you back positive cash flow (shares/managed funds/many other options) and try to make your own money, instead of paying off a car that is going to strap you, leave you in debt for 4-5 years, make a finance company thousands of dollars in interest etc etc. Financially and for your future, youre much better off saving and trying to make some money instead of getting into a long term debt and having to save up just to pay for maintenance and repairs etc. People spend so much and repeatedly put themselves in the hole to get a car that they want at the time, and at the end of it, they dont come out looking very good financially. Working on commission is ok in the right situation. I do it for a living (selling cars) Bit stressfull sometimes Good luck whatever you do.

Remember, try to give people worse/cheaper presents than they give you, that way you'll get good value for money.

High compression pistons, larger bore, balanced bottom end, stiff valve springs, aftermarket ecu, higher rev limit (assuming it is still making power) with an na, you have engine capacity, head + ancilliaries flow, and rpm as your basics. So if you had a 3.1/3.2L spinning to 7000rpm...... (going to a larger bore may not be a good idea, i dont know, im not an rb30e na tuning and motor building expert. its a good idea but i dont know if it will hinder the engines ability to rev or something) my rb30e is getting a bit sick.... how much did each of your mods cost, who did it, what exactly is the mod, where is peak power, whats the powerband like etc???

there are no minimum requirements. There are literally hundres of vehicle finance / finance companies. It is not necessarily and unsecured loan, if it's a vehicle loan they should put an encumberance on your car with REVS. You are meant to have a good credit rating to be able to get normal finance, but we just got a bloke approved on a VT who is an ex bankrupt. It is up to each individual application because sometimes you can get past certain negatives. Following are the main points, where do you stand on each, and ill give you a rough idea on how you're looking. Time in current job and previous job. Full time, part time, or casual. Time in current address, and previous address. Renting with a lease in your name, mortgage, own outright, living with parents, boarding. Any previous loans that you have paid out, or are currently paying? Was/is it a good accout? ie have your payments all been on time, or have you been spasmodically late....(includes credit cards) Current net/gross income. Is it a steady wage or do you work on commission etc Outgoings Rent/mortgage/any other things Assets Tools, bikes, cars, boats, furniture or other things of value. How much is each worth. Credit Report Are there any defaults, court judgements, or bankruptcy acts on your credit file? How many enquiries are there, and have you been knocked back in the past? Thats a quick one.

Once everyone recovered from the new year, ill organise another cruise.

Ah good luck to him. Its good to see someone actually doing something, apart from the usuals. Ask nismogirl, organising a SUCCESSFUL event is not often easy or quick.

NIZMAN - "mr track event" how many QR track days have you been on? How many skidpans? How many Morgan Park days? MM2Death - qld dead? Am I the only person here who can organise an event? I hope you werent having a go at me. Xmas/new year is a bad time for it, and it should be quiet. James - chill out, you are a necessity on a mountain run, specially for entertainment the only person invalidating your opinion is you.

Try looking in 1. the newspaper and 2. the trading post or 3. a car yard. There are HEAPS of R33's for sale.

To get a safety cert the car must be roadworthy. So if its not, you might have to have some work done to it. Try and find a 'friendly' mechanic. you can get a day permit to drive the car to a mechanic and stuff.
-
How does a blown head gasket cause the car to use more fuel? It will often allow water to get into the combustion chambers, giving white smoke out the exhaust, or may let oil in, with a bluer smoke out the exhaust. Try the thermostat. If that doesnt work, do the waterpump, and make sure you bleed the system of air, there are bleed bolts (10mm head on my R31) on the intake plenum/manifold. Good luck.

There is actually a name for those rb20e R33's, but i cant remember what it is. I think it started with "E" Someone who had one should know.

I think cops run them in qld.

There are other dramas and costs if you try and use the australian struts/hubs. I did it. Not a good option. Costs a lot. Find some complete import struts if you want to do the upgrade. You also need r32 gtst master cyl, booster, some new hardlines made up, fluid, pads, engineering cert, wheels that will clear the callipers etc etc. Oh and if you upgrade the rears (custom job on an aussie 31) the package is awesome. I recommend just getting slotted rotors, good pads and fluid for most people instead of putting on big units, unless you are really charging hard on the limit. In a value/cost/use sense that is, in theory everyone should get the biggest/best brakes they possibly can. Good pads and fluid means stuff that doesnt fade and usually costs a bit.

I can't imagine a worse Christmas present.

James is missing something for sure, but the doctors haven't figured out what it is yet. You'd better rock up so we can race again james you grumpy bugger where should we meet on the coast?

Might have a solution, finding out soon.

Ive seen 32's with towbars. Might have to get it custom.

Has anyone got some webspace where we can host all the skidpan pics/vids?
-
Call a good place that does engineering certs. You can get a few things engineered that are regarded as illegal if done right.

steve - mini spool = locked diff. go the 1.5 way, its what you want. mini spool = illegal. your car will drift fine with an open diff, mine does. if its just totally stuffed, thats another story....
