  1. been passenger in a quick strap in one, with standard suspension its impressive.
  2. The skidpan day will also be a big cruise, last time we did that about 30 cars turned up, i think this time it will be bigger. No one crashed which was good. p.s Mt Cootha gets foggier than that, and it gets veeeery interesting If you like going for a run on the mountains, check out the Mad Mountain Run thread, as this is a wicked day. (and put your hand up for Sunday)
  3. sunday is better for people who have work commitments. Its up to dave and the people attending to work out the best day to go. Who wants a Sunday?

    Skidpan Day

theres so little friction that theres not a lot of wear on the tyres (relavitvely) but if you can put some cheapies on the back, do it. We have raced 1 on 1 round the skidpan before, each person started half a track away from the other, and it was first back to the starting point after 3 laps, but it turned into a grip elimination race which was poo. Dont know if we will do it again. We do time trials for sure does not sound like the video venue to me.
  5. This event does live up to its name guys Lets make it a sunday. Im there.
  6. Be smooth, and get good at judging your corner entry speed. After you are committed in the wet, you're pretty commited. Get good wet tyres. Slowly go harder and harder as you get better. Smooth feels slow, but its the fastest and safest way. I love driving in the wet, you're still driving on the same roads, in the same car, with the same equipment, but just different conditions. I get more of a rush in the rain, smaller margin of error.
  7. svd you could have used mine if you posted earlier!

    Skidpan Day

In the past, spare spots have become available at starting time due to some unfortunate circumstances, like Mesmer's wheel falling off on the way to the skidpan. Rest assured there is huge demand for this event as another club will be filling the remaining spots, and it is unlikely there will be spots available on the day. If you want in, you are best off securing a spot. Trust me, you wont regret it. Recap - tyre wear is minimal, damage to car highly unlikely (would be your own fault) its not hard on engines/gearboxes, excellent instructors and very social atmosphere, not tightly regulated.
  9. what time do i need to be at your place? Do you want me to bring my 1.5 ton hydraulic jack?
  10. what????? Rain is no deterrent to a cruise! There is an undercover area at roma st parklands, and driving in the rain on Mount Gravatt will be great fun. I dont think the rain will hang around though I love the rain.
  11. locusts check out the "Skidpan Day" thread in this forum for the next event on the calendar.
  12. It hasnt stopped him before either. Can I come out in your car MRE?
  13. someones built a 10,400 rpm RB30DET in a VL. If you built the car to go to 10,000rpm and develop peak power around there, it could be done. wouldnt be worth it though.

    Skidpan Day

as ive already said, its first in best dressed, im not letting anyone make payments to me yet as a date is not finalised with the organisers.
  15. maccas is still not an option.
  16. Another thing to take into account with cars that have the same modifications, but different rwhp and 1/4 mile times (apart from drivers and dynos) is the monday/friday car phenomenon. With 2002 model roadbikes which are built to very exacting specs, you can have 2 bikes on the showroom dyno with a difference of anywhere from 0-5rwhp generally. Just another factor to take into account.
  17. check the "Skidpan Day" thread in this forum for the current drift event I am organising.
  18. in roma st, you can enter from either end, just park where you see some skylines, ill be there early in a light blue R31 with 16" wheels to establish a meeting place. we might eat at hungry jacks or something in the end, who knows, im a real tightarse......
  19. MRE - SHOTGUN!!!!!!!!
  20. heh torrens you're over 30! 1k p/a is good. They wanted over $1000 per year to comprehensively inusre my $3600 1989 R31 Skyline, with huge excesses as well.
  21. after my experience with dba pricing from repco, autobarn, and trevor at brakedistributors, I dont trust any main retailer with price on items like that. michael - thats a big price difference, but in the case of dba pricing its purely a case of as much profit as possible.
  22. Well she is actually female. Do not even think of starting you two.
  23. 240 is way overpriced. i got my fronts for 187.90 each. dba 909 slotted.
  24. bzzzzt. R32 GTR's and up are ATTESA 4wd. Older GTR's and the R31 GTS-R are RWD as far as I know.
  25. I have seen and driven the car i mentioned in my first post, and as merli said, THEY FIT PERFECTLY. Makes the car look fantastic too.
