  1. investigate some higher end yokohama's also. 539's are good in the wet but not as good in the dry, see how much it is for the next best thing in their range.
  2. 901's would be good for you boxhead. G Grids are ok. Dont get 2nd hand. If you can lose it under power in a non turbo auto, you should really invest in good tyres. speak to LOTS of tyre shops. 215/50 R16's = good size if it has stock wheels.
  3. Yeah the only think it was lacking was power, and more would be needed only for : 1/4 mile, drift, timed trackwork or road rallies. It felt like it had sufficient hp for the tight mountain work. Brakes - probably just some slotted rotors and good pads for trackwork. Great PACKAGE apart from the 95% locked diff on dry/wet/dry/wet roads...very sideways...very quickly!
  4. i like em.
  5. There was a manual at willowbank pulling meh times. MRE beat it twice. I think he has exhaust and maybe boost....in an auto R33 GTST. 1750 is pathetic. Cars are getting heavier instead of staying the same weight or getting lighter. I think they are a top car, but so far its all a bit ho-hum.
  6. VERY responsive to throttle and steering inputs. The ride from the teins was great, with strong midrange exiting turns. A very composed and smooth car even when going rather quick and not being driven smoothly sometimes. Good brakes too. A turbo with maybe a similar exhaust side but bigger compressor for some more hp but with similar responsiveness. It wouldnt need much more as a road/track/road rally/drift car. Loved it, heeeaps better than the R33 GTR ive been in. 34 was 40k with all mods on it, 33 GTR was 50k stock.
  7. yeh the one i rode in had teins, fmic, power fc, modified diff etc. needed a bigger turbo though.
  8. mates got that setup on his 32, personally i would go for 215 or 205. He's got bilstien coilovers though so it handles well anyway. I had 215 yokos on my 6" wheels and they were a bit too big.
  9. dont get me wrong i do have 6" up front and 6x9's in the rear with a CD player, but all speakers will be removed for any off-street driving, and possibly mountain runs in future, but I really shouldnt be going that hard on mountains ( )
  10. dude the R34 GTR front end fits onto a Stagea. A friend is gettin his stagea in june and its going to be very exciting. Dynamically its obviously going to be inferior to the R34 due to the extra weight high up above the rear end, but you get the practicality tradeoff. I would be torn too, you just have to look at what is MOST important to YOU and go from there. Gut feeling is pre-modded R34 GT-T as ive been in one on a hard mountain run and it was sick.
  11. i would recommend just buying 2nd hand aftermarket if you can. after working in an injector/efi place and listening in on a few conversations on high flowing R&D, youre better off replacing them. Proper atomisation was a problem.
  12. jimih i wouldnt do it unless .1 of a second is important enough to you to justify the cost. It is not good for the box or clutch. Superbikes/GP Bikes have a special button to do this, but a bikes gearbox is different. V8 Supercars have a gearbox that can cop it. If you can afford to go through gearboxes then go crazy.
  13. welcome dude. The way I see it is... When you are driving your car, do you get pleasure from knowing youve got a JUN bodykit bolted to it, or braking hard into a corner, throwing it in a punching out hard? Or... accelerating so fast it makes you smile as you're shoved into your seat or listening to some really loud music you can listen to whenever (which makes the car slower - speakers = kg) I know which options I prefer. Driving is about driving, not what shape the fibreglass is on the outside, and now how loud your stereo goes. Not that I have anything against a car that goes hard AND looks good, but steroes just slow a car down.
  14. dude why are you going from a cool 'line to a MU?
  15. its got potential petey you little lurker.
  16. just a public safety notice : do not drive next to MRE around corners.
  17. steve is an importer. his business is MR GTR. He imports skylines for a living. Know a few people that have purchased from him, everything has gone well. He will be going to jap early january.
  18. ive been on a mountain run with an 02 STI. Very good poise through the corners, it can make a young rough driver can look very good but it seems to be a relatively slow car, especially in a highway roll-on situation. nice car, but :shake: to STI.
  19. mate im gettin rb74's. can you give me a bit of a review of them?
  20. or you could do what i've done... cut most of the top of the airbox off, just leaving the outer edge that clamps the panel filter to the bottom half on the air box. Then, mount it vertically behind the left headlight using ducting back to the turbo/throttle body. sucks coldish air because its only sucking from the front. k&n panel filter. cheap as, panel filter was free, $10 for piping. had the zip ties already
  21. chaos i dont think we will need an 11sec holden at our off-street drift events. I dont really have any info on the Rally, as I said the info will be obtained early January.
  22. well ive been in an R33 full of passengers on a racetrack doing 240kmh. 250 isnt that fast.
  23. like you even had to reply MRE..... hitnrun - thought you might be up for it. No advanced drifters have attended any skidpan days so far that i know of, so a drift day at willowbank is not a realistic option at this stage. If I can get this dirt track happening it will be the next event on my list. The full skidpan/lvma day rocks. lvma = massive bitumen area with cone track setout and water on it..... slalom. timed track, brake tests etc.
  24. its just a ratio of how many times the tailshaft spins per revolution of the wheels.
