Blitz EBC Spec S owners...
SeriesIIGTST replied to SeriesIIGTST's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
cheers mate. -
Hi all, Does anyone find that even with the EBC set to the off position, boost still increases over stock? I can easily hit 0.74 bar (~10.9ish) psi with the controller off on a cold night. (not running a front mount...yet) Other than that, I have no problems with it. Works wicked. My dyno graph (which i've misplaced...grrr) showed my boost straight up to 10 psi for the run and then stayed dead flat for the rest of it....well worth the money in my opinion. Feedback welcome! Cheers

that's cool. forgot about the long sleeve people. can you work with that "S" as suggested in either posts? What i was thinking was using that "s" logo with the skylines australia text beneath it on front left breast with your SAU and web address logo accross back. Dark colour shirt as everyone suggested with lighter writing. Here is a very rough idea of what i was thinking. damn, it's been a while without using photoshop.

Aftermarket Intercooler using Standard piping
SeriesIIGTST replied to SeriesIIGTST's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Roy13. How can you substantiate this? Everyone that has ever bolted on a cooler of decent sizes (read 600x300x67) that is a half decent core, has gained ample horsepower. How big was the cooler you were testing with? If it was thicker than about 80cm then you're probably right due to the area the air has to cover inside the cooler. If I read this right, are you saying that by making the air do a 180 degree bend at one end, you are cutting masses of power out. Piping is approx the same length for both types of coolers (standard vs aftermarket piping), if size is the same, then true, the standard piping would be slightly more restrictive due to the 180 but I can't say that'd it'd only be making power over 160km/h. Plus, with a decent tune (if you look at my specs anyway, I have an SAFCII) i'm sure there will be bulk horsepower as that is what everyone else has found. As I haven't road tested myself, I'm not saying you're wrong but i'm saying, yes, I have done a lot of reading and there does not seem to be any negliable effects of fitting an FMIC as long as it's correctly sized. -
Rebuild Q1 - Compression Ratios
SeriesIIGTST replied to SeriesIIGTST's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Steve: I don't know a lot about engines at all and the guy started to explain something about them being too high or something. This info has come from the people who are supplying me with forgies if i decide to get them. Anyone care to comment on Arias pistons and rings? -
Rebuild Q1 - Compression Ratios
SeriesIIGTST replied to SeriesIIGTST's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
All, particularly, Meggala, I have just been informed by one of the performance shops over east, who have it on good word from a reputable performance shop (yeah i know, second hand knowledge) that putting RB26 pistons into an RB25 causes detonation on low boost and will cronically wreck your engine. Thoughts? -
Aftermarket Intercooler using Standard piping
SeriesIIGTST replied to SeriesIIGTST's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
bOO5t, I was thinking of getting that Trust kit through Taka's as suggested earlier in this thread. The one with end tanks 32 and 33 or whatever it was. However, cost of rebuild is gonna wipe out my intercooler funds. I wonder if anyway is interested in a group buy further down the line? -
Rebuild Q1 - Compression Ratios
SeriesIIGTST replied to SeriesIIGTST's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Chris, cyl 6 has been a little dodgy ever since I've had the car and I guess the problem has just got worse. It has also been running quite lean. In terms of prevention, I'd simply say make sure your car is in a good state of tune. Something I neglected to do upon purchase of my car. Get the A/F ratios analysed to make sure it's not leaning out. As for intercooler, I was considering the Trust cooler as people suggested in my other thread however, $$ now have to go to get it rebuilt. -
Rebuild Q1 - Compression Ratios
SeriesIIGTST replied to SeriesIIGTST's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Guys, thanks heaps for the replies. Will an 8.6 compression ratio drastically affect off-boost performance? I've also been offered a super deal on some Arias forged pistons and rings (read less than $1300 delivered) through a friend who has contacts over east (no, they're not hot). Is it worth the extra expense given the fact that by the time I buy RB26 pistons and rings to match i'll probably be looking at that sort of dollars anyway? Bl4cK32: I'm not really interested in an RB30 conversion. Thanks for the idea though. -
Hi all, After dropping a cylinder (stupid cyl 6 with it's foobarred ring lands....) it's time for me to start some serious research on rebuild options. Let's start at the top. Not aiming for high horsepower (read 250rwkw MAX) so while I got this thing apart, I may as well build it to reliably run that sort of power. It's a street driven car and my daily runner for work so it sees traffic duties. Question 1 (there's bound to be more) - Head gasket. Should I just get a replacement stock item or get a metal one? If I get a metal one (from HKS or the like) should I be considering lowering the compression? Seems the thinnest metal head gasket will result in 9.0 compression ratio. Higher? Lower? Feedback would be appreciated. Cheers

All, My last sale fell through as my potential buyer realised the grill was from a Series 2 and doesn't fit his S1. Don't miss out again. Stock Series 2 grey grill with red "S" logo. Taking reasonable offers. Cheers! -
Paul, PM Sent. Liz, that's cool. I think i've sorted it out with Paul. Cheers! Dave

Paul, what about those that paid directly at Works instead of registering interest on forum...for instance, I paid at works but was not mentioned in the list on the first page...what's the go?
