If you kept losing 20% through the drivetrain you would never be able to make power.
Guy A makes 2000hp through his RB25 drivetrain to the wheels. That would mean if there was a 20% loss that his engine is making 2400hp.
Guy B makes 300hp, same drivetrain. He loses 60hp.
Heat does not cause the loss of a further 340hp for Guy A. And by your theory, Guy A would make 2340hp at the wheels until his drivetrain heats up, then it's back down to 2000hp for him.
1000cc injectors should be capable of exactly 1200 engine hp. Considering he would only be making 1100-1150 engine hp...it's high but not impossible.
