An Apexi power intake is not going to solve your hot air problem. You will need to build a decent cold air box or cold air intake. The power intake is just a filter and adaptor...nothing special. And as for smoother and better filtration...try a $40 DRIFT brand urethane pod as they have been proven to filter better and flow more than all of the leading manufacturers including HKS and APEXi.

Does it matter?
-
The 040 flows 220-240L per hour which should support somewhere in the vacinity of 400-500hp. I'm getting 450hp on one that is 3 years old at the moment. Are you sure it's the pump that has failed? I have seen regulators fail in the same way....rare....but can happen.

Rb26dett In A R32 Gts-4 4 Door
The Dan replied to Torques_Cheap's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Pull out RB20.......put in 26....few connections here, few hoses there......hey presto drive away. Probably one of the easiest conversions you'll do. -
Yeah, the 20 is stronger and will rev higher. You don't need much to get to 200rwkw. RB25 turbo, cold air intake (not just a pod), exhaust, FMIC, remap ECU You could budget around $4500 including labour to do the whole lot. There are some other bits and pieces you can add to the mix to improve the package. Things like fuel pump. I don't care if the old one is working fine...put a new one in. For $300 it's worth the peace of mind considering around 7/10 RB engine failures are fuel related. Cheers, Daniel.

Can anyone solve my fuel problem
The Dan replied to CroatianDlite's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Has anyone actually had a look for a leak in the fuel system? Leaks in the intake pipwork or manifold? Cleaned the MAF? Has anyone TESTED your purge canister? Has anyone TESTED the coolant temp sensor? Has anyone TESTED the O2 sensor? Has anyone TESTED the coil packs? Why start replacing parts if these items haven't been tested or checked? Most regular mechanics would have no bloody idea of where to start. The first step to solving a problem is identifying the syptoms, second step is understanding the system. Goodluck....and if you need to know how to test any of the sensors or perform any of the checks, PM me and I'll run through them with you. -
^^^^ Correct ^^^^

Hahahaha, thankyou for adding the element of comedy to this otherwise depressing thread. That's funny as.

I think everyone should lay off phee. She has done nothing wrong cept had some poor customer service and is voicing her opinion...which is what she is entitled to do. The fact is...it doesn't matter about the $1000 and whether it happened or not. Rob and Varun are both honest people. The new owners are honest people as well. In my opinion you will only ever get good work from honest people. We deal with them every week so it's not like I'm some friend of a friend either. I have my own business so I have nothing to gain by talking them up either. I personally guarantee their work is good. But everyone has to understand that even the best workshops still make mistakes and sometimes poor decisions. It's not about the mistakes, though, it's about how they deal with them. It's about honoring their warranty (which they do) and doing what they can do accomplish what the customer wants. Cheers, Daniel.
-
As far as I know there are only two people who work in the workshop and that is Rob and Varun.
-
Yeah I have employed my older brother to do some simple shit for me to help out. He's poor and I have too much work to handle so it's a win/win I guess
-
My whole body aches and I still have 120hours of work to do
-
Too true Varun. I know if I'd spent countless hours tuning a car to perfection, I wouldn't want some half-wit picking it apart and messing with everything. It is a completely simple matter to send the ECU back to MOTEC or whoever and have it unlocked. The other matter is one of policy, if you are going to put a warranty on your engines and tuning then you would make it your company policy to password protect your investment. You would also make it policy to not give out that password to anyone for any reason. I mean, after all, how does the tuner know the person on the other end of the PHONE is genuine and not just scamming some stupid story so he can mess with the tune. Policy is there for a reason and if you start breaking it for one person, soon you'll be breaking it for all people.

I wish I had time to hoon.

Man you should come up to Brissy, standard hourly rate will only set you back around $77/hr. Some workshops charge up to $80-$90 but this is only a select few around the place.

I work at ABS springwood during the day and we are doing the exedy HD kits supplied and fitted including flywheel machine for $720. We used to do them for $700 but the price went up because we were buying so many...go figure. Our number is (07)3808 3533 As for fuel pump dying, do a fuel flow and pressure test. This will tell you if your pump is healthy or not. There are many things that can cause the issues you are experiencing so I would assume it will not be a simple matter to diagnose.

The sad truth is that if you are happy with the service you receive, you will usually only tell 1-3 people. If you are unhappy with the service you receive, you will tell 10-15 people. I think all of us need to take a step back every now and then and ask ourselves how we are acting as consumers or customers. I have had work done by people before that I was severely disappointed in, I don't go around bagging them out but I do tell anyone who asks what my experience was (which is what has been done with this thread). It is impossible to please 100% of the people 100% of the time. You will always have disgruntled customers at some stage. And as far as I can see, only one person has anything bad to say from ACTUAL EXPERIENCE. I can't speak for their coffee making skills, however.

I have dealt with Rob quite a few times and found him to be very knowledgable. He is usually willing to help at the drop of a hat and I've never heard of any complaints about him before. The old owners, however, were a different story. They had no idea. New owners are quite friendly. The PowerFC doesn't have a locking facility from what I understand so it wouldn't matter anyway. I do know that if someone wanted to charge me $1000 for an unlock code, I would laugh at them in the face. I have had similar issues with Bob Romano with the Rotary so I just emailed Microtech and they sent me out a base map and the procedure to wipe the previous map. Cost me nothing. It just seems strange 101 would charge $1000 for something like this and in my opinion there has to be another side to the story. Simple fact is that they do great work, they are extremely good at tuning cars and Rob is friendly and helpful. If you want to know more, ask them yourself.....ring Rob (Don't bother dealing with the guys that answer the phone).

You might want to read my other posts. As for the 'tard' I have no time to speak with people like you as you seem to on edge with society.

Only series 1 AFM's are interchangeable with R32 RB20DET AFM's. The Series 2 has a 3 wire AFM with a pink label. Don't forget that you can't just wire in a Z32 AFM and away you go. The ECU will have to be remapped...which is not possible on the R33 ECU. This means you will need to buy an aftermarket ECU like a PFC of something similar. You have to ask yourself what you want out of the car. Over 200rwkw? Then upgrade it.....if not then leave it.

Model number is BGKNRGFR33EDA----- and it's a 03/95 4 door R33 GTS4. Had an RB25DE fitted. Well that's what FAST tells me anyway.
-
Ok he just got back to me. It has been made from an R33 V-spec GTR with Autech parts, flared rear quarters and door. Made by Skyline Imports QLD. VIN is 6U9000ENR33005578
-
I think if you read closely it says engine number....not VIN. I have emailed him for the VIN though...will let you know how I go. lol SAU hunt down.

Actually I have to disagree with you there. ATMO bovs do vent crankcase fumes into the air. The rocker cover breathers are plumbed back into the intake before the turbo so therefore fumes which pass through here will be re-cycled through the system to be burnt through the engine.
