  1. ATMO bovs are legal as long as the crankcase breathers are plumbed into a cath can or re-routed through the pcv valve. There is NO LAW OR LEGISLATION whatsoever regarding pod style airfilters other than the fact that they must be attached to the inlet piping. Unsecured pod filter only applies if you don't have the filter attached to the pipework (if it has come off or missing). Exhaust has passed DB testing also so there is no problem there. QT make the rules regarding the traffic act. Transport department enfoce them. Police are only there to enforce major breaches of these laws and only then can they direct you to a defect station. The only people who are authorised to issue a defect notice are Transport Department Inspectors or other authorised inspectors. Traffic cops may only direct you to a defect station...not actually defect you unless they are an authorised QT inspector as well. Tango....so you think just because he drives a Skyline and he is a young male, that means he deserves to be defected? I think you are the one who needs to do some growing up...or maybe grow some balls and challenge the defects you may have received. Cops have taken it to a new level and so must we. John is doing the right thing by chasing it. Given that he probably should have kept his mouth shut and googled the questions instead....the whole situation may have been avoided but we all do silly things on occasion. We all have a right to be on the roads and if it means we have to fight for that right, then hand me a rifle coz I'll go in!
  2. Haha, didn't my tape measure do a better job Jason? I would give Greg a call at City Suspension. He is at Springwood on the northbound service road. Can't go wrong, he's been doing suspension for over 20 years.
  3. What's stopping you from buying the car you want now and registering it in your name. That way you'll already own it when the laws come in. doesn't the new laws only effect people who don't already have the car when the rule comes into effect? Other than that....take Daves advice...he is correct. DO IT!!!
  4. I saw a write-up a little while back showing how to fix it...seemed to work very well.
  5. I always thought you could record a conversation as long as you were present for that conversation. And you can video tape anything as long as there is no sound....???
  6. This cop has picked on me before too. I popped the bonnet as asked and he basically pointed at everything and told me it was all illegal. I laughed at him and said "prove it". He then got very angry and spoke to his mate about the situation. They couldn't come up with anything so decided to let me off with a 'warning'. As they drove off I said "Have a nice day fellas". He slams on the brakes and says "Don't make me get out of this f**king car". To which I had no response lol.....Assclown! He fined me for something a few months later but didn't remember me. I did deserve the fine I was getting though.

    Introducing..

Welcome. Good to see more Kiwis finally realising that Australia is a much better country rofl. Might see you around.
  8. yeah, what's your point?
  9. I could always alter his tune and password the haltech....for a bit of monetary motivation rofl. But then again.....it would probably still have you. BTW Frank that was some wicked accident in the 200. Can't believe you got out of that one alive.
  10. I can get you all the studs with nuts for $50 and the gasket for $50 if you like. The R&R for the turbo and manifold is around 4 hours but then you have to factor in the broken studs, seized bolts, etc. etc. Add 1 hour for each broken stud just in case. Usually you'll get two if you're lucky.....6 if you're not. So say worst case scenario you have 6 broken studs and they all take an hour to remove - remember it's a murphy's world....it would cost you $77/hr X 6 hours + another $77 X 4....That comes to $770 + parts and given that it would be a 10 hour job I would like to have the car for two days just to be sure as well. Sounds like they are just covering their arse, which is what any good workshop will do. Best case scenario you only have 2 broken studs in which case it will only cost you around $460 + parts.
  11. In two of the stock ECU 32's I did it on, it actually cut ignition at 21psi boost. The 33's I meant boost limit. (Via solenoid)
  12. Some people won't know how many pins their AFM has. You are after a series 2 one. If you get stuck and can't get one, email me and I'll offer some solutions.
  13. What if the quote for 3rd party property was $1000, would you get it then? I didn't.
  14. R33 RB25DET boost cut is around 12psi, R32 RB20DET boost cut is about 21psi. Are you sure it is boost cut?
  15. The stock actuators open at 4psi. Yes....halve it. And at any rate, 14psi is not going to kill a pair of GTR turbos. Sure it may have screwed a few in history but that doesn't mean it was caused by running that much boost.
  16. Try re-meshing the AFM's. Why you would remove the mesh is totally beyond comprehension. The mesh is designed to improve AFM readings to be more accurate.
  17. Kier Wilson (I think it's him) runs his 8 second drag car on stock RB26 head. This would indicate a flow capability of much more.
  18. Apparently he just upgraded it only a few weeks back
  19. I second that notion. He advised a customer of mine to not worry about cams and just put the gears on. Makes the same power it did before. Drives exactly the same after the tune. Definately looks prettier though.
  20. Has anyone got a compressor map for the stock turbo? Does anyone actually have any idea or are we all just talking shit about what the guy next to us has said? The GTR runs half total boost on each turbo. So by my calculations, that would mean the stock turbos WILL blow up if they run more than 7.5psi each. Holy shit, and here I was thinking that 10-12psi each was more of a realistic maximum for each one.
  21. The general "maximum" for both RB20 AFM and RB25 AFM is 200-210rwkw. That's not to say you won't max out on less or max out on more...just what I have noted over the years.
  22. I think the IT is normal for that setup. Do any test on a GTR IT and you'll usually find them at least 50 without liquid assistance.
  23. You sound like you are an expert. That is the biggest load of crap I have heard this year. The remapped ecu has a greater tuning capacity than a powerFC. The remapped ECU can do anything a powerfc can plus it has the added bonus of cold start, diagnostic error coding, knock retardation and adaptable tuning. PowerFC is dumb and only does what it is told. Even then, any man and his dog can tune one and charge $500. Have a guess at the quality of tune you get for that though. Dr Drift has remapped literally hundreds of factory ecu's including mine (450hp RB20), one of the recent drift national champions (500hp RB20), 400awkw GTR's, widespan sheds drift S13 (320hp CA18) etc, etc. My 2c
  24. Mainly just a jump in mid range. No loss down low but I am using a GT2876 with a 0.86 rear so it really has nothing down low anyway.
  25. It actually will. It is well known that Garrett under-rate their turbos and that you would only require around 480 engine hp to have 300rwkw. I have seen an R33 put out 300rwkw on a GT28RS
