  1. Not always, I have seen the light come on when the vehicle had an alternator problem. Replaced alternator, light went out. Manual oil pressure test confirmed no problems. Although this was a one in a million chance it still happened that way. Had me baffled for quite some time.
  2. White smoke is more likely going to be oil...not water or coolant. All the RB's have a restrictor fitted on the block sie of the oil feed. Journal or BB makes no difference
  3. Take the pipe back as far as you can to avoid defect from initial visual inspections
  4. If in Brisbane I can diagnose the problem for you.
  5. Dyno run should always be done in 1:1 ratio or 4th gear. Sometimes the run is done in third if the vehicle has a speed cut and cannot be taken right out.
  6. Carbon fibre bonnets are illegal unless fitted to a vehicle prior to (I think) 1992 when ADR 69 came out (Full frontal impact occupancy protection). Any vehicle after that date fitted with a CF bonnet must be engineered. The engineered bonnet must have passed front and side collision test on the exact model of vehicle it is fitted to. Like n15mo said....Custom Carbon and DMD do make legal engineered ones for 32 and 33. They cost around $2000 from memory but you cannot be touched when you own one of these. Terry..I didn't think you could get defected for having a CF bonnet...isn't yours fibreglass?..lol.
  7. Hasn't everyone?
  8. The GT30R and GT35R fit with spacer plates on the turbine housing. You can pretty much get anything with the 0.7 A/R front cover in there. The spacer plate will need to be 26mm thick so that the comp cover doesn't touch the exhaust manifold.
  9. I have a brand new one sitting next to me now. The part number on the side is 22680 30P00 A36-000 N62 This part number should be the same for all. It also has an orangy/brown sticker.
  10. Can you post up some pics coz I think you've been jipped. The standard rear housing A/R on an RB20 is 0.63 so I don't know how you matched this up with your figure of 0.48. If what you have described in the last part is the same thing I'm thinking of, it's a bolt on internal wastegate plate that garrett made so that the GT30R, 3071 and 3076 could be internally gated. This was the most dodgey setup on a turbo I had seen and I told my rep that it would not sell. I was right. There are so many turbos to chose from and it sounds like someone may have given you the wrong advice.
  11. I'm talking about a Garrett GT3082R which used to be known as a GT30R. Just like the GT35R is now called a GT3582. The GT3082R (SB8006, SB8006A and SB8006B if you would like the Garrett part number) is rated at 600hp. The GT3071 (700382-3 and 700382-12) is rated at 400hp. You can do the math but on my calculator that equals a 200hp difference. I don't care about ATP turbos....Garrett make them, Garrett rate them.
  12. The GT30R flows 200hp more than the GT3071R...why do you think this is a hair more? The GT30R with the 0.6 rear will come on full on an SR at around 3700.....laggy....I think not.
  13. I would like to know about the 0.48 turbine housing. This is EXTREMELY and does not come on the GT3040 (which doesn't exist anymore). Also the 0.64 comp housing doesn't make sense. I'm wondering if you are getting numbers mixed up. If not then that turbo is a very poor selection for anything above stock power levels.
  14. The standard pistons let go a bit earlier than that, I wouldn't trust them past 300rwkw but the rods are definately good for that amount. It's a matter of getting it to run smoothly at that figure though. Just because they break at that point is not an indication of how much you can get to safely. Of course if you're nearing 400rwkw you would change them regardless. Not only for strength but for their weight difference.
  15. How about a call to Repco as they have the parts listing as well

  18. The 3071 will be working off it's tits to get you 330rwkw. Go for a GT30R with a 0.63 rear housing. You'll have full boost by 3700 and it will quite easily produce what you want at 19psi. I have put a GT30R on an SR before and it made 300rwkw on 16psi with conservative timing. It should fit fairly easily onto the HKS manifold. You can get one for $1750
  19. Anyone ever heard of a hydraulic lifter? I guess not
  20. Then you are not searching hard enough. Go to the NGK website and you can select your vehicle there. The standard plugs can be re-gapped to 0.8 so don't bother fiddling around with a plug that's already gapped at that. Just be gentle while regapping them so as you don't chip the iridium or platinum tip. You go for standard plugs but remember to change them every service.
  21. What a crock. The RB bottom end is no stronger in an RB25...in fact the RB20 has a stronger block. The crank is the same strength and the rods are stronger in the 20 than the 25. Why does everyone think the RB25 is such a special animal. Just because the head flows shiteloads more. You can expect the rods and crank to go AWOL at around 450-500rwkw. As long as everything else is setup well enough. As I say to everyone who asks me this same question, a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link....for ALL RB's, this is fuel delivery and oil control. Make sure your fuel system is an overkill and read SydneyKid's writeup on oil control in the Forced Induction section.
  22. I actually do them in 2 hrs if the other guy I work with machines the flywheel while I clean the box up. GTS4 and Series 1 32 GTR's take an extra 10 minutes because of the extra shaft to remove. Series 2 and up are a little more tricky because of the pull type setup they have but it isn't much more difficult if you've done it before. I'd say the workshop that did it didn't know it was a pull type and had major issues removing the box. Still, they are wankers for chargin you for their incompetence. If you had a GTIR pulsar I'd say they did you a favour by only charging 11 but a 33 GTR should be no more than 4.
  23. Just waiting on a call. And yours isn't even finished being built by John yet is it?
  24. I would probably direct you to City Suspension at Slacks creek though. Talk to Greg Tate. Tell him I referred you and said that he would do you a good price. He will look after you. Pretty sure the number is 3808 3662
