  1. I guess there is only one way to find out for sure. I don't want to go off what another mechanic has said so I'll speak with the Department of Transport. Waiting on return email......
  2. I spoke with two modification certified mechanics and both told me that if they latch and hinge in the correct places, there is nothing wrong with them and no plate is required.
  3. Hmmm, some great deals here Dan, I might buy a few of ya coz they are so cheap and stuff like that. Your the best, man. I priced up a few from a couple of other cheap mobs around and your prices are low as an alter boy on sunday morning. I'll take one of everything yeah!
  4. the big number on the face has something to do with it. From memory it should be a 22 or 23 or something and then a series of numbers after that. If you ring a company called PetroJect they should be able to tell you which one is which. Also from memory an Auto computer works ok on a manual but not the other way around.
  5. you can disable the HICAS by unplugging the KYB motor located in front of the rear steering rack. I would advise against it as it makes steering much heavier. You will know if the 4WS has been working or not because of the difference it will make once you unplug it. The light may stay on constantly though, can't remember.
  6. I wouldn't worry unless you are unemployed.....a new cat can set you back 3-400. As for the oil pressure light coming on...I would assume that while the engine is running you would only have 2-3 litres of oil in the sump at any one time, therefore, a VERY hard brake would send this oil flying towards the front. Even though the pickup is at the front, you can still fit 2-3 litres in front of it. I would say that BHDave is correct in saying you are experiencing oil surge. It only takes a split second for it to suck a small amount of air and the pressure drops to zero for a split second after that, hence the light coming on, until regular oil pressure returns. I seriously think you don't have anything to worry about but if you are, take it to a mech who has an oil pressure guage and get your car tested.
  7. Use the force! also listen to J R32 and blind elk.
  8. I did the same with the autometer one....best EVER. only cost around $185 including the new sender
  9. Have not heard anything yet but I'll be speaking to him tomorrow. I think he said something along the lines of $200-$300 exchange. He was also saying that he might have some problems with the ADR so I'll try to keep you guys posted. He mentioned he wasn't specifically doing the 34 unless someone could guinea pig a set of taillights for a week.
  10. He owns Cresta Australia and P&M. Cresta is an importing company he used to be linked with a company called The House Of Auto Styling. He might not know but chances are he does. He goes to Japan every second week and he has a rep over there buying cars for him all the time. In fact...he has that GTR Stagea for sale...one of five in Australia (if your interested in things like that). I have a mate chasing a 34 and usually Wally tells him of all the good ones or the ones he saw at auction that had been repaired.
  11. Give Wally a call from P&M Motor Body Repairs. He might know where a few are located. Tell him Daniel from Midas sent you. He usually keeps tabs on everything coming into the country. Their number is 07-3390-3999
  12. That 35/40 with the 1.06 housing was actually designed and flowed to be on a 2 litre 6 cylinder engine. They reckon it should come on boost at 3200-3500 depending on whether you have the 2 or 2.5 L. I don't know how true this is and I don't want anyone to be a guinea pig for it. I would rather just ask someone who has already got one on. As for direct bolt on, you have three options...these are: 1: Highflow 2: HKS 3: Buy a different car HKS and Greddy and companies like that are the only ones that have made the direct bolt on stuff for Skylines in the smaller stuff with internal gate unfortunately....you might be better off waiting until they bring out their T3 range. Even then though...anything Ball bearing will have different fittings for the water and oil lines so that rules all of them out.
  13. Although I wouldn't say no to owning one.....what a disappointment.
  14. Hey ppl..Mega discounts available for another week while I'm managing. Still discount avail any other time as usual but I can do extra extra special discounts for everyone this week and next until they get a new manager to take over.
  15. Sorry, I just read my last post and realized how rude I must have sounded. I didn't mean you had NFI and appologise for coming across like that. Ummm...what car is this going onto Bob. The reason I ask is because the HKS 2835 comes in T3 or T2 flange but the garrett equivalent only comes in T2. You would probably want something like the aforementioned GT3071. It is internal gate and rated at 400-450hp, T3 flange. I am currently trying to find out how much it would cost to highflow this turbo by Garrett as this would place it well into the 500hp mark and make it a good int gate bolt on comparable to the GT30R.
  16. NFI:confused: Totally different turbos. The gt30 does not come in an internal gate. That combo was a GCG combo using the standard skyline exhaust housing . This combo has been proven to be very unreliable. The only other way to do it is to buy the HKS ex housing which is very pricey. The GT35/40 rated at 700hp is internal gate but only come in a 1.06 ex housing A/R at that rating. HP in a box do a 0.63 but it is not rated at 700, I think it is closer to 500-550hp. I have done a highflow for Syphon and a GT35R for Skyrine-Dave. I officially have no hair left!
  17. I would like to thank my mum and dad for all the support. My g/f for putting up with me and all my fans who made this possible.

I guess ther might be some inconsistencies between transport departments. Of the vehicles I have also registered over this period I have never had one checked by QT. maybe different offices use different practices. Best option would be to contact your local QT department and ask if they need to inspect the vehicle as you are selling it and have no licence to drive it there. Plus you ar an orphan and have just moved from Arabia so have no friends to drive it either. lol

They have to see the engine number physically if you have changed the engine to a different one but as krawler said, they don't actually require to see it otherwise....that is the job of the roadworthy mechanic.
  20. I asked him today about when he'll have them in and he said his guy will be back from Japan on Thursday and then the application will proceed to get them approved after that. He said nothing will be ready for sale until 3-6 months but he is confident that he will get approval as they only aid in safety because they can be seen more easily. Plus they are legal on trucks so it won't take much to get them approved...it's just the $5000 he has to fork out to get it.
  21. Compliant with ADR means that they will be fully legal. Cops can't do shit about them.
  22. Slightly off topic but if you want your standard suspension converted to coil over then go see the people at TBS at Capalaba. They can also get all of your EBC brake pads and slotted rotors fairly cheap.
  23. Price for the direct bolt on replacements for the GTR rated at 300hp is $1700 each. Certainly beats a highflow and especially seeing as though they are ball bearing.
  24. No we don't sorry
  25. sorry ppl, still waiting for a reply from the rep.
