Competitive servicing and maintenance in Brisbane
The Dan replied to Silver'sR33's topic in Queensland
Sweet. It's always good to hear about honest workshops around the place. Too many people take advantage of the performance industry and it makes me mad. Good work! -
Was a great cruise. Thoroughly enjoyed being able to see some nice cars in daylight for a change. Was stoked that my car was running so well.

get a pin or needle and feed it into the front of the plug. this will pop the little barb down and allow you to remove the end from the plug. Just resolder the wire to it and push it back in.

Can I make an offer on your right knee cap. I'm good for the cash. I'm not interested in the Kidney as I have a witness that saw you racing another Kidney and I don't want it if it's been thrashed. Plus you blew some smoke last time I saw you take off. So how about it...knee cap?

Ok, just got off the phone with him 5 seconds ago. The VL highflow he said will handle the 550 hp but oil cooler is a must if you are running the higher boost and you must have the 360 thrust. He uses a 2 inch 100 thou comp wheel and retains the standard size turbine so that you don't suffer any lag. He crops the turbine wheel 5 thou which moves your power range into the mid-high area as opposed to the mid provided by the standard unit. He said there is no need to go a T4 shaft (bigger one) as the standard spec one is easily able to handle it and using the larger shaft makes it laggier. He said that he has supplied 3 turbo's to VL street racers with these exact specs and they have been absolutely wrapped with them. They have said that boost comes on strong at 3000 and holds through 6000. The standard highflow is about $1200 but with the 360 degree it is a couple hundred more. The bearing itself is a few hundred dollars apparently. 5 day turn around at worst.

yes that is correct. The engine can handle 700-800 hp on standard internals. You still have to do mods to get it there. R34 GTR's are rare over here too. It's not like everyone has one. I have seen two...ever. Not that I get out much but you get the idea. You will need a steady job earning you around 600 per week to own and properly maintain one in Brisbane. That would include insurance and servicing and tyres and all that crap. Being an R34 it won't need very much in the way of repairs for some years but if you look after it, it will last a long time. Maybe you should start off small by buying an R34 GT-t first, getting the feel of the car, and then trading up onto the GTR. It would suck if you pranged your first Skyline and it was a 34 GTR. They are an easy car to drive and handle unbelievably but they are easy to be silly in also, so be careful.

I can pick it up and drop it off if you like. Is the turbo on there the standard one at the moment? If so I'll get a price tomorrow on the beefy upgraded highflow. If all is good I will get the ball rolling in the next couple of days. The turn around shouldn't be any more than 4 days but could take 5. He requests that all of ihs rebuilds be VSR balanced so that they are perfect and to do this he needs to send it to be balanced by his sister company in Perth. He said he will not warranty his work unless that is done. That is why it takes that long. Is this ok? I'm not completely sure of the specs of the turbine and compressor wheels or shaft sizes/brands but I'm sure he will know when I ask him tomorrow. I'm not sure how to work out the payment thing as I don't have a business name. I can, however, give you a receipt for it and maintain warranty for the item. 90% of turbo failures occur due to oil contamination and/or starvation so make sure you have clean oil and that the supply line is also clean. This will ensure a healthy life for the turbo.

My email is [email protected] if you need to contact me Highflow would be a good option for you as it would bolt straight back on and can be made very strong and reliable. Will also give you a better torque curve in your mid range. boost should come on strong and hold through 5500 I would think. would you be removing the turbo or not?

I have a fast 32 if you need to get outta there in a hurry. Just incase you find out she's really a man or something. lol just kidding....it's not that fast.

what is with the ignitor. Forget about the ignitor. You should be testing the basic first. Fine you have checked to see that fuel is getting to the filter but is it getting ot the injectors? Is fuel holding in the regulator? Crimp the return line temporarily while someone cranks it. Make sure pressure builds up and stays there. If it start when you crimp the return line then you have a faulty reg. Next, checking spark. Do as suggested above. Checking spark plugs and coil packs to make sure you are getting spark. These things come first in diagnosis. You shouldn't be stuffing with ignition modules until all else has been checked. If you are a doctor and a patient comes in complaining of back pain, you don't give them a heart transplant.

Yeah I had all of them up for download not long ago. Too many stuff ups with the account and too many people hammering so I had to stop. I have had them on a neat little package for 6 months now and everyone seems to have forgotten about it. Still available on DVD if anyone wants it. Included is the Nissan FAST software also if interested.

Can you tell me who gave you the info on the 35/40 rated at 700hp internally gated? Also, dunno about a highflow stepping up to 550hp. Is possible but I know for a fact that the GT is more durable. Boost stays up there once you get it and you will have more legs like you said. For track stuff, the highflow will definately have better power curve to get you out of corners faster but I don't know how much punishment it will handle. Constantly on boost like that would kill it very quickly. You MUST have an oil cooler fitted if you want to run a highflow with that hp figure and on a track/circuit.
-
The 25/30 will get you there but you could get away with a beefed up highflow and still pi55 it in. Beefed up highflow will cost you around $1200-$1300 including larger shaft and 360 degree thrust bearing. A 25/30 will set you back about $1700 and then you will need to add another $400 for fitting it, maybe a bit less.

These are custom made. The turbo is still a Garrett unit but it is not released by Garrett like that. I have been told this by Garrett themselves. That is not to say that it can't be done, it just costs a little bit more money. You are probably looking at an extra $150-$200 on top of the basic turbo price. For the second turbo, sure enough it does come with a .63 exhaust A/R but this doesn't mean it is still rated at 500 hp. It does, however, mean that you will run out of puff at around 5500 rpm. Quick off the line you will be though. It all comes down to what horsepower you want and when you want it.....anything can be done.
-
what parts do you want. I have done all the above and more on my Rb20. Let me know what you want. Also, now is a good time to decide what you want out of your engine. Do you want extra hp or are you just looking for a fresh motor?
-
PM has been emptied...sory for that. Also. The 35R is not the same as the 35/40. The 35R is external gate and rated at 600-650hp. The 35/40 is internal gate and rated at roughly 450hp. You can, however, make a turbo based on the XR6 exhaust combined with a 35R to make it internally gated and still rated at 650hp. But they cannot copy the Ford turbo for obvious reasons....even though they made it. Price on the exhaust housing is about $650-700. in that size. Can't get one for around 3 months though.

I should be able to come, dunno yet. I gotta give Terry back his locknut key I left at my work.
-
It covers the GT35R but not sure about the 35/40. I'll have to check it out. And they are definately not internally wastegated. You might wanna check that out. I will see but I am 99% sure they are not.

Just check the map location as maccas is at the set of lights before the one with the circle around it. At least I think it is...?
-
and if you decide to go with a TD06, let me know as I should be able to hook you up with one of those too.

I'm gonna try and get outta my brother's wedding early so I can come down but can't promise anything.

haha. They can actually do a gas analysis on the side of the road. And with one of those, you can tell if there is no material in the cat. Your Nitrous Oxides would be through the roof. And as for that, once they find that your cat is hollow....coz any idiot can tell the difference with an analyser, you get a machinery and they fine you. The fine is up to $5000 depending on your involvement. Thankyou for wasting my time for having to explain it.

Totally related topic...get over it. How about you pull your head in Andrew. Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit and you are showing at least half of it. As for organising. I have seen many other threads of the same nature which take shape over many days or even weeks in some cases. As long as people keep checking the thread up until the day, there shouldn't be any problems. Terry should post a final message with a unanimous meet point and date/time when everyone confirms their attendance. No need for maps I would have thought. Maccas is pretty easy to find. It's on Wynnum Road isn't it. If you are coming up the Gateway (inbound) take Wynnum exit and turn left onto Wynnum road follow it through three sets of lights and it's 100m on your right. If you come down Creek road from Carindale, just turn left onto Wynnum road and it's 100m on your right. If you are coming from the City. Go via the story bridge, past the shafston hotel and follow it continuously until you see it on your left hand side...(there are no other maccas on the way after shafston hotel so as soon as you see one on your left...that's it) Oh yeah...if you can't find it...you're an idiot.
