  1. Like knore said.....check basics first. I would then point to things like AAC valve, TPS and AFM. Only because they are common problems with these models. AAC valve should up the idle when load is applied to the engine with the buttflies closed ie. I have a manual and I can idle up my street in first gear with no accell. it is a small hill and the AAC valve picks the idle up to keep it driving. If everything looks alright or test alright. Try cleaning things like throttle body, AFM and AAC valve. Use something like throttle body cleaner or carby cleaner but DO NOT spray the throttle body direct with the cleaner. it can burn out the TPS. Instead, spray onto a rag and wipe the T/body clean with it.
  2. The magnets are an absolute life saver. I have two....a straight telescopic one and the bendy one. Don't knock the 1/4 drive. They are very useful for the smaller stuff. Half inch is alright but you will find that 3/8 drive rachet and sockets are much easier to use as they are not as heavy and can fit into smaller spaces. get yourself some decent 3/8 drive extensions and a universal joint to go with the rachet and sockets. I have found that I rarely use my 1/2 inch stuff unless it's like brakes or something really really tight. 95 percent of the time it's 3/8 all the way. You can do anything engine bay and most body stuff with them. It is also harder to break stuff with them as they don't overtighten as much. Maybe a decent multimeter as they can help a lot when testing for faults. I couldn't really do without any one of my tools. I have around $3000 worth at work alone not including the box. All I can say is choose carefully and the bargains are not always the best. Go for quality, not quantity.
  3. Well I have only just started dealing with him but I'm sure he would have no trouble. I wasn't sure what thread was on my GT25 oil supply line but he is going to try to find out. You pretty much just have to tell him the width of the banjo fitting and give him the lines and he can modify your existing RB20 lines to suit the 25 turbo. That's what I am getting done. The oil supply banjo to the block is being removed and put onto a braided teflon flexible line and the two water lines are just being cut back about 15 cm and silver soldered teflon braided lines about 2 inches longer and putting on the 14mm banjo heads as opposed to the 17mm standard ones. This means I will be able to move the line easily into position without effort. He really only services the bayside area but if you are willing to travel, he is a very helpful person.
  4. Hey everyone, just wanted to plug a local business in my area for going above and beyond the call of duty. I needed some prices on getting some braided lines made up to suit the new turbo. Not only did this guy go out if his way after business hours to come to my house to see what I needed, but he was also a couple of hundred dollars cheaper on the total job. They are: Bayside Hose and Fittings. 07 3286 9354. Located at Unit 1, 57-63 Shore Street Cleveland. He has been in the industry for 20 years doing hoses and fittings. They can do anything from brake lines to fuel lines and much more. This post is directed to praise any local businesses you may have had work done by or bought something from. Let everyone know who these businesses are, what services they provide and what you liked about them the most.

    QLD Docks

That sux man. Maybe we could talk with the management there and arrange for 1 person to be escorted in to take 3 or 4 photos and then promptly leave. Maybe a little cash insentive or a banana (for the monkeys that work there). PM me your details and I'll try to track it down and make an arrangement.
  6. Got a quote tonight to do the braided lines. Both water lines and the oil supply line including fittings, bolts and washers all custom made.....$100-$120 He shoots....he scores! I am really happy with the amount of service I have been getting from our local businesses. This guy finished work at 5 and drove out to my place to look at what I needed to do the job. Not many people are willing to do this these days. Therefore, a big praise and plug goes out to Bayside Hose and Fittings. 07-3286 9354 They are located in Shore street Cleveland. 20 years in the industry.
  7. Discopotato03: My supplier has told me a couple of months. But we all know how accurate that could be. Companies like Garrett can say 2 months but it will take them 3 or 4. All I can say is they are on their way and they aren't too far off now. Gatty: I have been told that he will not just do the seals. All turbo's that come through him are to have a full service kit and balanced. The reason for this is quality of workmanship. He is the best I know and his work is proof of that. He said it will set you back around $550 as long as there is no other problems with turbines or housings. Pentae: Sorry but that info is privileged. All I can say is that he is an authorised Garrett dealer. The turbos are all brand new. You won't be able to achieve cheaper prices without going through me. If you can get a cheaper price elsewhere, AND CAN PROOVE IT, then I will TRY to beat it. The other thing I would like to note is that if you live on the Gold or sunshine coasts or in Brisbane/Ipswich or somewhere local to brisbane then I will deliver the turbo in person. And I can arrange a COD if you feel untrusting.
  8. Why would it be your last event. You don't need a licence to be a passenger.
  9. I don't care where we go...as long as I don't have to drive through Logan to get there. Also....stop at some sort of pub for lunch. Your original idea seems quite sound to me.
  10. My GF's mum drives a 4WD. She is the worst. She drives along, totally oblivious to EVERYTHING going on around her. On a few occasions we have seen her driving the same way we have, so we go up beside her and honk and wave and yell and crap like that. She just sits there, staring straight ahead. Has absolutely no idea. You could sit there for five minutes beside her with the horn constantly going and she won't know you are there still. Plus...I have to get this off my chest.. The silly //ankers that drive the same way I do in the morning. They really pi55 me off. The sort of people that will need to turn left 500 metres ahead, they can see the line up of cars in the left lane waiting to also turn left, but they continue along in the right lane until they get right up to where they have to turn and realise, oh, I have to get in here somewhere so then they hold up everyone in the right lane for 2 minutes while they try to squeeze in. Seriously, I need a bazooka.

    P Plates??

I heard it was as of 1st July or something like that. Definately coming into effect but not exactly sure when. They were also thinking of having cerfew and passenger restrictions for P platers also. Also not sure if they will be going ahead.
  13. BTW, $1100 is what I have been quoted to fix it so sorry if it might seem expensive.
  14. Definately not a BB. That would mean it is a ball bearing. The only skyline I think is the 34 which has the bb turbo. As for the silver top turbo, I have a blown one which I could have fixed for you. I would want $1100 with it fixed. It is a hi-flow and has supported me to roughly 215 RWKW. If you want a 360 degree thrust put in, then I think it will be slightly dearer but not much. Let me know if he is interested. When it is fixed, the only parts that won't be brand new will be the exhaust and compressor housings. The rest including wheels, shaft and cartridge will all be brand new.
  15. Probably my favourite import yard is Cresta. They are located in Capalaba (sorta close to Maccas) they usually have most stuff and pretty cheap also. Just give them a call. Number is 07-3245-1555
  16. Try Zoom Auto Imports. I rang him two weeks ago and I think he said he had one left. They are in Wynnum.
  17. 1320 kg or 2911 lbs
  18. No worries mate. Glad I could help. My other supplier has been really slack with those gaskets so I am going to try direct with ACL tomorrow hopefully. It's been two weeks and all they say is....oh, we haven't had time to ring. Bullcrap! I even reminded them twice. I might also try coventry or someone else like that. Anyway...I'll let you know how I go.
  19. I don't like your chances of being able to get anything rated to that hp with a 0.63A/R. I'll do my best. Is there any reason for wanting the 0.63A/R? You are really limited in your choices for the T3 flange also. You would probably have to go with something like what I described above. A T04 with a V1 compressor trim and the P turbine trim with a 0.82 A/R to achieve those hp ratings. You might be able to play with a few options on the T3 housing to squeeze a little more out of it but I'll have to check with the supplier to make sure. I'll see if they can do a 0.63A/R T3 flange on a turbo rated at 450hp. If not, have you considered going for something like a twin ball bearing GT25 or something that will be better suited? You could also wait a couple of months as Garrett is bringing out some more designs in the T3 configuration. So then you would be able to get a GT25 440hp with a T3 flange. Now wouldn't that be nice.
  20. I would like to help you out. Where are you in Brisbane?
  21. The Mafia: Will see what I can get. 85URK: I'll try to find out. Have you tried google yet?
  22. Let me know if you find out any... ummm...personal details....and I am sure we could both go round and reason with them. In a friendly manner of course. BTW...I am being serious...yeah that's it...anyway...being serious about the going around bit so let me know if you find out anything. Hey, on a seperate note....did you know that my 22 inch snapon breaker bar is covered with a lifetime warranty against breakage. And it doesn't even matter how I break it. Just thought I would let you know.
  23. I thought you said 2mm too wide. Did you mean 2mm larger rolling diameter? And he is wrong. It is measured at the time, so you can actually do a burnout and wear them down. If they are half worn, you can knock like 3 mm off the total rolling diameter. The reason why they don't pull over bikes is because they are chicken5hit pu55ies. An 18inch tyre is absolutely positively gonna have a greater load rating than what came out standard. What is your load rating on the tyres now?....I'm gonna find out for you. It should say close to the size....like 225/35/18 with 96z near it or something like that.
  24. 0.82 is a large size. 0.60 - 0.80 is usually good for the mid range stuff edging towards top end power. When they start going over 1 is when you get large amounts of lag. But you would compensate for this by using a Ball bearing turbo which helps to counter the lag effect. You can successfully eliminate extra lag by choosing the correct combination.
