  1. A little shagged? My power button and the two volume buttons have been missing for about 6 months. They just dropped out/snapped off. I just poke my mechanail into the gap lmao They are already beta testing the i5 firmware. I was going to upgrade to it but due to my Ninjas live requiring jailbroken device, I could not so I said f**k it and rolled back to 3.1.3 so it's less memory intensive You gotta give them credit though. They put a device in my hand, latest technology when it came out. I hate Apple with a passion and still do but this Iphone is freaking awesome. I am also biased as I have not tried anything else. The problem is, though, because I am addicted to this game on it, I kinda have to stay with the apple device when it comes
  2. omfg It's not going to be your spark plugs, it's not going to be your plenum gasket, it's not your fuel Check the damn timing or take it somewhere where they can check it for you Someone lock this
  3. I'm a mechanic and mine gets used for business all day, stays in my pocket all day, gets leaned on when i'm sticking my head up under dashes gets dropped and knocked around, scratched. I am at 2 years on my Iphone 3GS in 2 more weeks. Gonna hang out for the i5 towards the end of the year. It has lasted as long as my N95 did under the same conditions. Maybe you guys are not hard enough on them from the start
  4. False. There is nothing wrong with Iridium plugs....or Platinum plugs for that matter. They serve their intended purpose. If you want to make 200% more power than Nissan intended, then maybe you have to revisit their design or if you want your 20 year old ignition system bandaid fixed, then sure, go coppers. Iridiums actually have a finer tip, allowing them to fire a much more precise and direct spark at higher intensity. This gives better combustion and due to the iridium tip, they last a lot longer. If he is running a standard car then he doesn't need anything more
  5. I had my bro pulling engines out and putting them back in on his first day. He loved it. Of course, he has experience working on cars and I check everything. Don't you work for that osh-posh car mob?
  6. Yeah meet me back at my workshop and I'll give you a bucket and sponge. The Mirage is filthy
  7. +1 Check ignition timing with a light The timing belt is not going to be causing a pinging issue (it can but it won't be - unless it's about to fall off) And $1500 to do a timing belt/waterpump etc = dayam!
  8. It would take longer to copy each setting across than it would to just tune it properly.
  9. wow, I'm glad my tuner doesn't do that.
  10. revving over 6k rpm is driving crap? The shaft will eventually bend or buckle. Has happened too many times before and I have replaced at least half a dozen one piece tailshafts for customers that come to me with vibrations. 2 of them had other workshops replace literally the entire car almost just to try to get rid of it when all I did was put a second hand wrecker tailshaft back in and problem solved. Other places claimed that it couldn't have been the tailshaft because it was new. Yes I know that some people run them and have no problems but why would you run a one piece to have that gamble when 1. A two piece shaft is stronger and 2. they aren't really all that much more to get made/buy It's just tight arses being tight arses that gets us to these conversations in the first place. Nissan chose a two piece because of the length. If the car was 3 inches shorter they probably would have gone one piece to save money too but there is a reason they didn't
  11. Automotive service solutions in Brisbane will be able to test and repair it
  12. EFI should be $1000 supplied/fitted/tuned You are best to ring and confirm that though
  13. so second hand? or new? did you have them cleaned and flowed before installing them?
  14. Where did you buy the Bosch injectors from?
  15. Yes, a vested interest in trying to stop you from wasting money on a product that offers no difference. But regardless, you have a good set of injectors now, even though you paid $400 more than you should. Even ID's are cheaper than $1440 for a set of 6
  16. Where is this evidence about the quality control? Or do you mean customer service?
  17. Another great injector is the Siemens Black 1600cc pencil type. We've used these in a couple of our cars now and they are brilliant down to about 0.80ms Fairly cheap at about $140/injector too
  18. You can get 1200's from RC I'm pretty sure. Very good at low open times as well. If you are putting 1000cc+ injectors in then I would assume you are going to be making a fair bit of HP?
  19. Bosch straight out of the packets
  20. The bosch and ID injectors are identical. Injector dynamics take a bosch injector, put their pretty nozel on the end (which makes no difference to the spray pattern), machine off the last 3 digits of the part number and flow and dead time test each batch. When you buy a bosch injector locally, you get the same bosch injector, last three digits of the part number are machined off (to protect bosch) and they are flow tested etc. I know if I had the choice, I'd be going genuine Bosch, unmodified and exactly how they were intended. They flow the same anyway and the price is better. Win/win
  21. We have a complete NA R33 GTS4 drivetrain in Gervase's R33GTR and haven't broken it yet. He's done several 9000rpm launches on semi slicks without problems. He is experienced at driving the car though and has never really broken anything except an Exedy twin plate clutch and a Direct clutches twin (exedy one rebuilt) Now with the single plate NPC in there we have no problems so far. Also all our stuff is cryo treated. Definitely worth while getting this done if you want to put anywhere over 450hp at the wheels through it all
  22. Yeah the restriction in one side would cause a variation in flow on the exhaust by too much. It would throw out the engine's efficiency by a mile and cause all sort of problems I care not to think about at 11pm
  23. What you are all saying is true, and while I would always get both done together, age is not really a good answer as to why you must do it. Two turbos of equivalent specifications (wheel sizes etc) no matter how old one is and how degraded one is, it will make no difference to the car actually running. It will do no damage because of some invisible imbalance in flow between the two turbos. Both will push air. Whether both push the same amount does not matter one single bit. I am only looking at this from a technical perspective. It doesn't mean I would do just one or whatever, just trying to find out why people think there has to be equal flow from both turbos for it to be 'safe' or correct
  24. Can anyone explain to me why they need to be the same? Two turbos join into one pipe. What difference does it make if one performs less? As long as the turbine is the same size, due to the fact they are both made by Garret and are exactly the same, it's not going to be any different if one is 50 years old and the other is 5 minutes old
