  1. Not too sure about the hub end. What EXACTLY are you trying to do?
  2. No. That diff is an A-LSD (Active Limited Slip Diff) No one makes aftermarket centres for them to my knowledge. They are worth approx $500-$700 depending on condition usually and GTR can only be fitted back to GTR etc. The splines are different, the half shafts are 6 instead of R33 GTST which has 5 bolts.
  3. Diagnosis - pinged its head off, blew head gasket Goodluck proving it was the tuner, and even if you can.....good luck getting recourse. Been there many times before. It's a hard road. That's why I only use Sean at EFI performance for my tuning now....too much heartache with everyone else I have tried
  4. Vspec R33 or R34 Same diff, so without knowing the car it's sitting in, you'll be hard pressed to find out whether its 33 or 34. Not that it matters coz it's the same diff anyway
  5. Hell yes, it has like 10kg extra mass to turn, it's like a 20hp drain
  6. R32 GTR or GTS4 that someone has butchered Series 1 push type clutch
  7. Move that T piece down the the fitting that goes into the block, then run the lines from 45 deg out of that in an upward direction. -8 is probably a little too small also. The factory hose is like 19mm ID so even a -10 is pushing it I think this will be your problem.....but even a stock oil pump would have done the same. Pooling in the return line is going to push oil out
  8. Ok yeah if you could posts some pics that would be good. The oil pump does not flow enough to bother those turbos. So it's gotta be something like the oil drain, the breathers, or the rings. Depends on what the builder used to assemble the engine. If he used engine oil (I cry when I see this) then it will smoke for a while. Also depends on if the engine failed before, you can have a lot of oil built up in the exhaust from a previous engine failure. Make sure you don't run that thing at idle for any more than 1 minute. Get it on decel on hills as much as you can and hold the foot brake in 5th while climbing hills. Will bed rings in better that way. But follow your builders instructions if he has given any
  9. 1. That pump flows similar to an N1 oil pump 2. Those turbos aren't smoking because of the oil pump Check your engine by doing a compression and leakdown test and then if they come up ok, check the breather system on the cam covers to ensure nothing is blocked
  10. same same. Just get a new one from Nissan.....retail is $125 or something stupid like that. The old ones are so delicate on the speedo-head end
  11. Yeah about 3.8L gearbox and 1.8L diff. I've heard good things about the syntrans too. Not bad for a cheaper option
  12. Royal Purple Max Gear Motul Gear Competition or FF type 2 Stay away from Redline shockproof for the time being - last batch had some issues
  13. Yes certainly if there is a noticeable difference between two cars the same, you can use that to gauge what is excessive or not. Only using your post as an example because the revs will drop and oil will come out if you take the cap off. Some ppl will read about the revs dropping and soon everyone will be stressing about buggered engines lol. Engine dying is not a good sign, unless the idle was a little too low already. But yeah, referring to your better judgement is always best. My main point in all of this is basically that not everyone should stress out about oil in a catch can or fumes coming from breathers. Hopefully the ppl who read from top to bottom of this thread will be able to use the information to be able to gauge it for themselves when they inspect a car. But when in doubt, get a leakdown test done.....they don't lie when done properly
  14. Haha yeah I think that CA was trying to tell you something.
  15. +1 ^ leakdown test result of up to 20% is acceptable, anything more and you should go digging for issues
  16. Well.....not really. There is a difference between excessive blowby and cam cover filling. If you have a high volume oil pump, your engine can still be very healthy and fill a 2L catch can. Fineline's R33 is a perfect example......cannot get one drop of oil to go into his primary can on the street or on the dyno but throw a high speed corner in and 2L in 3 laps of QR. That's purely because the head is hydraulic and we can't limit the oil to the top otherwise he will wear out his valvetrain components. It's also a street car so we need to consider this as well. Excessive blowby will do things like push the dipstick out (but even that can be tricky as most of the dipsticks are old these days so they don't seal so well anyway). It can pump oil into catch cans but if it's not doing it in a straight line at high rpm then I suggest the problem may not be excessive blowby. Yes detonation or missfiring or hitting the rev limiter will cause torsional ring twisting which does create excessive blowby but only for the duration of the missfire.
  17. 20, 25 and 26 gear shift bushes are all different. But yes, the bushes can be swapped out on all of them. RB26 bush can be put on a 20 shifter to go into a 26 box and every other combo you can think of
  18. Wasn't having a go at you mate. Just saying there is no practical way to type in text how much is too much. I was also pointing out that I assumed you would know how much is too much as you have a lot of experience especially with cars on dynos.
  19. Impossible to explain it. It's something you know from seeing hundreds of cars over years of experience. Most ppl only see one or two and don't really have anything to compare it to. I'd be happy to take video of a 'normal' one so everyone can see what that looks like. But, it's not like I can give some sort of measurement of gas flow or a quantity of fume lol. You'd know from your experience with tuning anyway....why are you asking me?....or is it more for the readers?
  20. Many of you have absolutely no idea what 'excessive' is. If you take the oil cap off any of the nissan turbo engines, the engine should drop in idle or nearly stall. They are a sealed engine. The cylinder head is SPLASH lubricated so it is meant to throw oil around there. Fumes coming from the rocker cover breathers or out of the oil cap means nothing. The engine has to breathe. If it doesn't, bad shit happens. The most annoying thing to hear is ppl going on about so called 'blowby' because when the car is on the dyno, fumes were coming out of their catch can breather or from their cover breather.
  21. I've got some second hand ones that have been cleaned and tested if you need them
  22. Combustion gasses leaking past the piston rings. All combustion engines have blowby....it's 'excessive blowby' that means your engine MAY not be healthy. There are various other reasons for blowby including detonation (or hitting the limiter) and not really excessive blowby but gives the same result - incorrect plumbing of catch cans causing pressure build up in the crank case
