I think you will find RWD are still eligble but nobody imports them because they are not as popular as AWD they are still on the SEVS register and definately comply with the power to weight rules (AWD has less than RWD) here is the sevs page for the Stag http://rvcs-prodweb.dot.gov.au/sevs/031-02.htm
-
but for the guys who bought their stags a while back when manuals were up around 30k self import and autos were 15 to 20 grand still a cheaper proposition to go manual via a conversion and also with the ratios of manuals to autos it far easier to find a car with everything you want and the colour you want for a good price than a similar manual my 2c

if the atessa is the only difference does that mean someone with a rwd stag could just plug and play?

if you mean on the outside then you maybe referring to the flare that lots of japanese cars have clipped on there most cars tend to "lose" the flare in shipping guess those dockyards workers like to play with fire -

I take your widebody and raise you Seriously though the widebody idea is cool but the door handles on the back door of the blue stag look terrible as there is a 10cm deep tunnel you need to put your hand into to open the door. I seen pics of this type of kit with the doors open and the finish is terrible raw fibreglass everywhere

always pays to be cautious and whats the old saying if its too good to be true probably is. I think that dealers forget that people arent stupid and will always look for the best deal and most people prefer to get a top quality car regardless of the k's. If I saw a car with 50000k's on that had been totally thrashed versues a 100000k car that had been babied and looked as new I would definately go for the higher k's car even if I could verify the k's on both
-
exactly my feelings on the subject if you really are conerned about the cars make sure you go over the car with a fine tooth comb or get someone you trust to do it. Personally I would be looking at the trim and the service details on the car and as you said Alex also looking for service records and all the other bits and bobs that confirm if the k's are genuine may cost you more upfront but in the future it could save you a packet

I guess I am just a little suspicious of local import car dealers, there was a delaer over here in WA that I know for a fact was blatantly ripping off its customers I even caught them in the act. They had a wine red r33 with some pretty unique detailing on the dash that as not ready for sale and was in their holding area out the back I saw it there the first time complete with 145000 k's next time i saw it about a week later the dash and console was in pieces and instrument cluster was not in the car and the week after I saw the same car ready for sale on their lot with 53000 k's on the clock and a price to match the k's. Its no small wonder that they are no longer in business. I guess I just distrust local dealers as they are alwasy so keen to make a buck that they will screw customers over in the process I doubt that the dealer would buy the car at higher price from japan as they want the cheapest car with the best condition so they can then wind the k's back and jack the price up. I guess I am just cynical but have worked with guys in the auto finance industry who worked for some suspect dealerships and it is accepted practice to do so.
-
yeah maybe but j-spec stated the car was available with a supplier in japan which you would think would be the same supplier that e and m bought it from. do you really think that they would tell 2 different clients 2 different sets of k's on the same car? Thats a pretty dangerous position to be in for the supplier as if either client figured out what was going on dont think either would be too happy with the outcome. Also where is the benefit for the supplier they porbably wouldnt be able to jack the price up if they dropped the k's as dealers look for the biggest bargains which in the case fo grey imports generally means buying a high k's car and winding the clock back

Zomg Kids/holden Drivers These Days
mcnamg replied to sindows's topic in General Automotive Discussion
cruiseliner used to have one is his vl he took it out and put it into his stagea and put the rb25 into the vl so both those engine combos are possible you see a few vl's in zoom with rb26 motors -
what inputs does the screen have? is there a seperate control unit anywhere else in the car? i would probably hook an incar digital tuner and dvd player up to it but that would depend on the inputs
-
does the slot behind the screen play cd's or is just for the sat nav data cd?
-
Doesnt matter anyway they will have the cars in their books and also have the same vehicle registered as well so plenty of evidence I think they know its dodgy I mean honestly a car thats done 155000k's even well looked after will still show signs of wear on the drivers seat and steering wheel more so than a genuine 40000 k vehicle
