Stagea - Idle increasing when brake is pressed !
mcnamg replied to Jay95R33's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
that sounds weird but i have heard of this before my wifes ford fairmont used to the do the same thing couldnt for the life of me figure out what it was but once i flushed the brakes and fitted new pads all round and put new front discs on it went away. I would be very interested to find out what the problem is. -
hahahahahahaha
-
yeah i reckon if i wanted to fit the kit i would definately go for a set of metal gurads dont think too many insurance companies would like plastic guards
-
do you think that we would get a better deal buying the r34 front guards from ziggy than masa? I love the conversion but not the price.
-
ill be keen to see what this turns out like I cant wait for the pic

Good Advice? or just nagging idiots?
mcnamg replied to The Dan's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Sometimes I think that parents forget that they were young once and had fast flashy cars just like we do today. However I guess ageing another 20 or 30 years adds a little bit of a different perspective to their memories so they tend to forget that little bit of information. I always bite my tounge whenever I am talking to my parents and they say I know what it is like to be young. The problem nowdays is there is a lot of media attention on High Performance cars and it creates a negative attitude which parents of course think means that they are bad. Its funny considering that the cars my dad was driving back in the 60's and 70's were probably just as fast as todays fast cars. Yet they ran tyres as wide as bike tyres had no seatbelts or airbags or crumple zones abs brakes etc etc. Its probably even safer today to drive a fast car than it was back then. I have given up on arguing with my parents and have just taken to putting the phone on speaker and doing something else while my mum rants down the phone line (another benefit of living away from home). Pity I cant do the same with the wife though. I say do what makes you happy not what pleases other people. If you tried to please everyone else you would only make yourself miserable. Everyone is entitled to an opinion but it doesnt mean you need to agree with it. Enjoy your car and the freedom it gives you and use it to go look at some houses you can move out into -
if i were you id park another car behind it to ensure they cant come along and put it on a flatbed late one night when youre asleep. ALso call a car locksmith asap as has already been suggested. Also ring the alarm place and get the alarm repropgrammed as quick as you can. once they have your keys there is nothing easier for them to do than walk up get in and drive away. so make it as hard as possible for them to do so. oh btw might be an idea to get a second set of keys and hide them somewhere they arent easy for a criminal to find.

Man that is bad news for you buddy. I can imagine how pissed you would have been when you looked under the car and noticed it was missing a few parts I agree with Sk threaten them with a lawsuit. Tell them youre going to talk to the police and your lawyer. Also I dont know what its called in NZ but we have something called the Ministry For Fair Trading department whom investigate these sorts of things and can teake away a dealers licence and fine them $$$ so maybe mention to them you are planning on making a call to them unless they are willing to get you the car that they promised you in the same or better condition with same or less k's on it. You are the one with all the rights here and if I were you I would tell them that until they get you a new car youre keeping the one you have at the moment as its their fault. Good Luck Buddy I hope it turns out OK

sydney kid love the pics and its good to see detailed instructions like size of sockets needed and even part numbers do you mind if i use this info and put it into an article in the stagea specs section? all credit to you of course.

Buddy Just Give me a chance to finish my exams and I will add this and any other information you guys want me to add to the stageas specifications section. will post any other diy or tuning info anyone else wishes to contribute Cheers Glenn

I think that the people who buy a typhoon probably buy it for the fairmont spec interior and bigger brakes and 18 inch wheels (your get 17's on the xr6 18's on the xr8 that are standard (Brembos are an extra 3k on the xr6t extra 1500 for 18 inch wheels leather 3k etc...). Also the target market for FPV is older buyer with more money and those who CBF'd modding their cars. The gauges are in the same place that HSV has them and are moulded into the dash its the same place as the screen on the r34 gtr so I think its not a defectable item due to the fact its built in and moulded to the dash. Did anyone read motor magazines article on the ford territory with a 400kw superchaged V8 in it? I think the guy from CAPA superchargers is on crack why would you put a big heavy v8 in the car (the rwd model at that!). I would have thrown an APS phase 4 kit into the thing it produces about 400kw too and its lighter. The cost would have to be cheaper too. They want 79k for the V8 territory and the APS kits on 15k so it would end up being about 55 for a TX RWD with an aps kit in it (for the budget conscious) or 68k for the AWD ghia with the kit. mmmm awd traction in a shopping trolley chassis can anyone say stagea?? I think FPV is going to be releasing a turbo territory next year anyway.

OOPS i didnt see that bit
-
so you can anticipate an imporvement in the fuel economy then i guess?
-
how rich was it running? how does the car feel now its tuned any different on the road?
-
too expensive and a real bitch if you have a car accident. i dont think frp front guards would stop much of an impact. i think i would prefer a body kit that allows an fmic but doesnt try to make the car into something it isnt. But hey to each his own I guess. Glenn
-
can you pm the prices to me please buddy
-
yeah where are the pics? did you get a half cut with all the bits on it??
-
i think you may need to put the anchor points in yourselft for the child restraints but they are located in the roof to make sure cargo space isnt comprimised. The cargo net has about 4 configs you can use it in maybe its meant to be used for another of those but i dont know which one sorr
-
Have a look in nizmans photos if you need any ideas on sub and amp placement in the boot while still retaining a usable cargo area there is a pretty neat install pic there.

Gavin, Welcome to Stageas Australia. It seems like all the NZ guys with stageas are flocking over here like sheep (oops sorry j/k poor taste). In all seriousness though congrats on the purchase I am sure you car will be very rewarding. Just to answer a few questions for you yes the cars are designed to run on premium unleaded fuel i think in japan they have 100 ron or higher butall we get in aus is 98 ron but if you get any knocking issues you can always add octane booster to each tank. The child restraints are in the ceiling in the luggage compartment just inside the rear hatch. They should be covered by little black plastic dust covers. In the ones in Aus they add one in the centre position for compliance but in japan domestic models i am sure that they ony have 2 one for each outboard seat obviouldy due to less strict legislations. The little hook you mentioned is one of the cargo tie downs and i think its used to secure the optional (on series one models anyway) cargo net. If you need any more info on specs and whatnot have a squizz at this may help a bit (btw sites still under construction) http://www.geocities.com/mcnamg/ Hope this helps Cheers Glenn

good luck prying the keys out of your wifes hands buddy she wont let go for a while you will need to wait till she is asleep

according to the article the only parts that masa supplies are the front guards. you supply everything else. most of the parts that they use are genuine nissan such as the genuine r34 radiator supports and headlamps and blinkers and so forth. bonnet is also genuine nissan or you can choose any other aftermarket one you want. and no they dont mention price just says call ernie at skyline imports yada yada yada
-
Hey Guys, For all of you who dont read High Performance Imports Magazine or who havent seen issue 49 yet there is an article on whats required to do the r34 front end conversion to a wgnc34 stagea and who to contact in oz for details. Not a bad article as it describes what else you need to buy apart from the front guards and so forth. If you are interested check it out there is some good pics too Glenn
-
when you do get around to doing them sk you should take a few piccies so we can all see how its done
