Perhaps not. It could be when the light comes on at 5000km, the idea is to remind the driver the car is due for an oil and filter change/service, and a reset button may then be pushed once the service is complete - thus resetting an internal counter, wired to the odometer, which will count until another 5000km is clocked up, at which time the light comes on again. I like it. It would be an accurate way to know when the car is due for a service rather than letting it go for a few 100km over. Then again I could be just making sh!t up here but it's definitely an aftermarket device, I've not seen one before. Kinda cool..
