  1. Hired a car a couple of times here in Japan. If you can't speak Japanese I would recommend getting it through someone who can. They like to spend a fair while going through all of the insurance details and that makes life very difficult if you can't understand the language. Bigger places may have English speaking staff. Or as suggested using a travel agent would again simplify the process. As GHO5T said the actual driving is pretty straight forward once you get going. However it doesn't hurt to do a little research on some of the local road signs and rules which a quick Google search will provide. Yes you will need your international licence. The standard one issued in Australia covers Japan no problems. No translation needed, they will just photocopy it. I'm not sure about the age limit. To give you an idea I hired a kei car for around $60 a day in a rural area. Good luck!
  2. This years festival was excellent. I highly recommend it if you ever get the chance to come to Japan. Some highlights were seeing the iconic Mines R34 GTR (display only), the le mans nissan fleet and jgtc/gt500 cars (the penrite r34 especially) at full noise down the fuji straight as well as getting on the track for the pre race grid walk. The rain held off too which was good. Also watched the Omori Factory mechanic disassemble an rb26.
  3. Admission and grid walk tickets acquired.
  4. Currently living in Japan and will be more than likely attending this.
  5. Good luck with the search for a good one mate!
  6. Awesome. Sounds like you got a cracking deal. I'll have to keep an eye out for some but I'd imagine s tune for autechs would be rare as hens teeth
  7. Some good info here. ido09s so you had the same sound as in the video? Did you just replace bolts/gaskets and tighten everything? Surely it shouldn't happen that often once the job has been done... Also once I get to the Nistune the tune will be relatively mild so hopefully the issues won't be with big power causing knock. Overall it seems like a good product.
  8. I had read that the Nistune pulls timing when it detects knock but the power fc doesn't. Is this true? Either way I like the product and it's probably slightly more cost effective.
  9. I've got a 32gtr ecu which will have the Nistune treatment. Originally wanted to go Power FC but I liked the retention of the factory knock sensors and easy setup with the Nistune. Then it's onto turbo choice. Almost certain on -7's or -9's.
  10. Nice work mate, was this s tune suspension specifically made for the 260 or was it the 33gtr spec? I had a strong fuel smell in the cabin and upon checking the engine bay, a hose connected to the fuel rail had decided to sprout a pin sized fuel leak. Lucky I got to it quick, but it was a bastard of a job as there is just nowhere near enough room to fit a thick hose of that length.
  11. Looks like it is almost definitely the exhaust gasket or one of the turbo gaskets. Either was its a rather large job to pull everything off and replace gaskets. Ideally I'd like to wait until I can upgrade the turbo's as it would be an ideal time to change them over.
  12. Both great looking exhausts! The Tomei is a piece of art.
  13. I had a very similar issue with my 26. Ended up being faulty cas. Get a workshop to plug into your ecu to check.
  14. All good points. Will investigate the specific location and report back. They are stock turbos and cash permitting an upgrade would be nice.
  15. Yeah true, just wondered if someone else has had similar circumstances.
  16. Hey all, the past week I have had this whistling noise coming from what seems to be the turbo side of the engine. Stock RB26. Engine noise on cold start up predominantly from the turbo side of the engine. Noise prevalent for the first 10 min and then subsides. Performance seems unnafected. A mate suggested it may be the turbo/manifold gasket leaking which would explain why it subsides when the engine is up to temperature. Any thoughts? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHAaE3OrryM&feature=youtu.be
  17. Ok cheers. Sounds like a plan.
  18. Any ideas?
  19. Hey all, after trying to diagnose a performance fault my tuner found the ecu was non communicative. Therefore the best option at the time was to swap in a 32GTR ecu and the problem was soon diagnosed and fixed. ECU runs great and problem was a faulty crank angle sensor. Only problem is that I had to disconnect the O2 sensors (which needed replacing anyway). As the 260RS originally uses the 33GTR ecu and the 32GTR ecu use different sensors (titania and zirconia) where do I go from here? The issues are, -Connection plugs are different I believe between 33 and 32GTR O2 sensors. Do they have the same wires? -Thread size differences between the two, I believe 32 sensors are smaller. This can be solved with an adaptor I imagine? Is it as easy as grabbing 32GTR O2 sensors and rewiring the connection plugs to suit? Then install with adaptor or have I missed something? I would really like to get some fuel economy back. Cheers
  20. Looking good mate. Track time in the near future?
  21. Looks amazing mate, nice touch by the company to include the photoshoot.
  22. Is this DIY worth doing if there are no major idle issues? Does it have any other benefits?
  23. I'll take the cargo barrier.
