yeah the sards go straight in. They sit inside the head slightly further than the oem injectors and other after market ones because they are a generic injector. The only downside (this depends on what side of the fence you sit on) is the spray pattern is a little more *squished*, if that makes sense. But by judging by the amount of ppl that use them and the great results they have, then it really shouldnt be a problem. Check out the rb26 dyno thread for proof.
The $480 was when the yen to dollar ratio was the best a couple of months back....i timed it right
theyd be low 500s atm i *think* (on nengun)
What are they going for dollar-wise?
A set of sard 700s were $480 from nengun a little while ago.
Nismos seem to be double that at some places.
For GTR you cant go past the sards if the spray pattern doesnt put you off
yeah what i was getting at was, he doesnt think its a pipe after a quick check
black smoke would indicate a leak and un-metered air going into the engine-i agree
I meant there may well be damage (such as ring lands as said, overlooking the black smoke) from a leaking injector. I wouldnt drive the car at all until it was checked if it were mine because theres a chance youve already done some damage and it may only get worse with continued lead footed-ness
"As title says, why do so many people have rebuilds done on these engines?"
Because they are put in a chassis where they can be punished and provide immense enjoyment when doing so
it sounds like youve got a grasp on what kills them, so you should be able to prevent it the best you can
doesnt anyone else think the engine has popped?
-smoke on start-up
-leaking injector
-engine light 'on' (detonation when using powerFC)
-pop or bang noise
"causes it to run lean sometimes"
All this doesnt look good.
If you cant find any hoses that have popped off then get a compression and leakdown done
spray some water or wd-40 around the place such as hoses and seals.
If you hear the idle decrease for a bit then youve found a vacuum leak.
Thats a good way to find a leaky/cracked hose
detonation will kill any engine in time
hows your fuel pump after 10 years?
are your injectors flowing the same after 10 years?
changed your fuel filter recently?
what fuel were/are you putting in the thing?
it might have been on the edge when it left japan. whos knows what kinda life it had before

Theyre the same as the ones you posted.
Ive only got a pic of them in the box and none of them on the car......not that you can see much anyway
The GT-SS kit comes with the HKS stamped upgraded 1 bar actuators
Best way is to look at the actuators
whats wrong with the HKS?
Maybe just add a decent front pipe to the mix and thatll do
Stick with 3 inch too if youre not planning on running more than 300rwkw
my 33 used to get 600km surburban if i was careful
If you cant afford the car, then sell it, buy a bunky and use that for the time being.
Then, if you still want a 33, buy one later and it will be even cheaper to buy down the track
Now i think about it, a GTR is a lot like a woman
Shower her in gifts and youll get some lovin in return
Neglect her and she'll soon piss off and take half of what you own
