Nah from what ive seen MCM have tested Pod Filters, the reason why you get the drop in power is because they arent getting a constant air feed unless you have it mounted away from the engine down the bottom somewhere, but then u run the risk of sucking up water so its not worth it. Where as when you have a high flow panel filter, its sitting in your air box and its less restrictive than your standard panel filter. Your getting a constant cold air feed from the front, ( same as if you were to mount a pod filter in the air box if it fits ). Personally as soon as i put this in, you can definitely feel a slight difference in acceleration, it picks up a lot better and have this is also supposed to improve your fuel economy because your getting more air through the inlet. I wouldnt touch a pod filter on a naturally aspirated car
-
Thanks mate bought one today for $80 I have to say! I can defs notice acceleration has changed, it feels a bit more torquey and the fact that the filter lasts a life time is great, just needs to be cleaned and recoated with oil. By far the best thing ive done to my car performance wise
-
Im pretty sure i have a panel filter in already, i just assumed they are stock. Would you say its less restrictive than a pod? And with panel filters is it true you have to oil them? (people are saying different things)
-
Where can i get one of those? Prices? Are they less restrictive than the standard paper filters?
-
Has anyone set up a pod filter inside their air box for cool air because of the feed to the front? I look at my airbox in the R34 but it seems like one wouldnt be able to fit, any suggestions?
-
Im guessing theres not much under $1000 unless your going 2nd hand then? It just really bugs me because the previous owner of my R34 put Advanti Chromies on it.... why!?!!??! why would you put chromes on a R34????
-
will do, keep tuned. Coilovers are way too expensive for my budget atm, im saving all that stuff for the turbo r34
-
What are some good rims to suit a silver R34? Im looking for both cheap rims and more expensive ones I already know Rota Grids, Rays TE37's, Drift Teks, are theyre any others? and are there any cheaper than Rota Grids that are decent?
-
Yeh i am doing it, but atm im repainting my bonnet, rear left quarter, roof, wing, tail light panels, because some have some major stone chips on em (paint peeling off) ive got rust coming through the paint also so who ever had the car before did a shit paint job because the base coat isnt even sticking to the primer. Just finishing sanding off the roof now, got decals at home waiting.
-
OH i told him not to get it, but what he does after advice is beyond my control
-
Mine has a rubber gasket around it? Is that what your talking about because i dont think you need to use sealant
-
Oh man... so ive actually got to reseal the housing? Im not talking about taking the lenses out just the painted cover that sits over the lights
-
Im on to sanding down the tail lights Does anyone know how to get the cover off? The only way i can see of doing it is taking out the whole housing. Just wondering if theres an easier way

Coilpacks - Rb25De (Neo Straight 6)

Then again not worth messing around trying to get power out of an N/A, better of saving your money for when a turbo comes along and modding that. Forced induction is where you get all your power. -
Ive had experience with it before. People always say "oh you never make money on cars" Absoloute bullshit. We used to buy cars, fix em, sell em make $1000 profit min a time. People dont realise how many dumb p platers are out there that dont know what cars are worth. My previous sales of cars, ive had people come buy them without even getting in em or test driving em. More money for me.... My mate bought a Auto S13 Silvia CA18de for $5000....... shit paint, shit wheels, rust..... < You really think a ca18de silvia is worth 5k? lol...

R34 Gtr Bootlip Spoiler (Pic Inside)
kyle345 replied to TM7GTR's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Thats either the N1 Bootlip or the Mines one, cant really tell from behind, but i think its the N1 which is for R32's so i believe they can fit R34's, curvature is the same im pretty sure. Heres the Mines one http://www.nengun.com/mines/trunk-spoiler -
As they say haters gonna hate, but your forgetting its a N/A skyline... im doing everything aesthetically i can to it so at point of sale it targets p platers, as you said "dumb 18 yr olds". From this i hope to earn a bit of money from it. Im not a fan of decals myself, but my R34 now im trying to make as much money out of it as i can. Then when i get the turbo r34 or r32, its gonna have track related mods, not worried about decals, unless its sponsors or if i have my own design. BTW incase you havent noticed on the Gold Coast there is about 3 -5 cars with these decals on, everyone in public that has seen the car all drop their jaws to it, its obvious people out there think its an icon. Look at southport wreckers... they have a wrecked R33 with the same decals on it, they decided to put it on their roof as an icon. Maybe it does look like shit to a lot of people in melbourne and victoria etc. but f**k i dont care what everyone thinks, its my aesthetics project car, and im doing mods to it i think is going to get the price up on it.

My R34 GT is getting about 400km on a tank, costing $70 a tank. Im guessing an R33 will be the same, seeing as most the parts they use are the same and compatible with eachother. R33's dont look that great stock in my opinion, just the roundness on em, but there are decent body kits out there that make em look awesome im not gonna lie. Wings with R33's suck (from the choices ive seen) unless you get a track wing, but thats why i prefer the R34's look meaner. Mods you can do without defects: 3" cannon exhaust i believe is the biggest you can go its just under 94db which is legal. Pod filter, as long as it is secured down, i wouldnt put one in because its just gonna suck warm air in, but if you do, mount it in the actual airbox so you get cool airflow from the front. You can do other things obviously but they are the most popular, also 18" rims are best to start at, cheap tyres that size. I havent messed with suspension, can be expensive, if your just gonna get lowered springs then that will be worth it seeing as its just for aesthetics.

Do these actually make much of a performance gain? -
R34 Snow Control - Drifting?
kyle345 replied to kyle345's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
But what if your in tiptronic? Its not gonna start 2nd then right? seeing as your controlling gear selection. Whats a decent diff (lower budget) for an R34? -
In the R34 GTS im just wondering in drift practice would turning the snow traction control switch on help seeing as it locks the diff? Ive been told by mechanics that turning it on, on a dry or wet road will damage the diff
-
Cheers mate, helped a lot. Went through their images, turns out they do a custom one that looks like the exact same to fit an R34 and they sell em for $200 from sydney or $400 to fit aswell
-
That East Bear kit just practically looks exactly the same as what the BNR34's look like, doubt i could afford it, but cheers for info
