I'd drive it without those bolts I'd do skids without those bolts. Few bolts missing never mattered, it is hopefully fully bolted to the block.

What are sensible mods? A tune?

Run max boost all the time. The throttle Conytrols boost. The only time 2 settings is worthwhile, and even then it's still not , is when making huge power to make the car somewhat sensible on the street.

The only way a shim can come out is with uncontrolled Valvr motion, ie float. Which is bad. Fix that and shims stay in.

True, there's pros and cons for everything. It does mean you can open the tailgate when parked up against a wall etc, but for sure, at the expense of storage space.

Value is one thing, safety is something else. Then there's parts availability, servicing, insurance etc. We have a VF Calais wagon , been the Mrs daily for 2 years. Child seat in the back still fit 2 adults either side comfortable. HEAPS of air bags. Automatic parking. Remote start, passive entry. Side traffic alert, blind zone alert, Approx 10 l /100 city driving. Very nice to drive. Cheap insurance. Nice stereo. But a brand new car obviously costs more than a 10 year old import.
