  1. That could be your problem. The return should be angled towards the turbo as much as possible, and as close to the turbo as possible.. A t is pretty likely causing reversion.
  2. That's the thickest flange I've seen. Will it be machined thinner later or are you going to use longer studs. I imagine it will warp a bit based on how few bolts are holding it to the head. At least there's tonnes of metal to be able to machine it flat! Glad it is progressing nicely. Just curious. Has that dude made manifolds before?
  3. Also BOV return angle plays a big part.
  4. What injectors, what fuel, what turbo, what exhaust etc is the free ecu tuned for?
  5. Use ecu. Report back. With pics please.
  6. Also what fuel?
  7. Funnily enough I have a trans for sale with the mentioned mods. Unbelievably I forgot to message you. I'll do it here. 500 bucks. Complete trans M v shift kit and billet servo and I will throw in another trans cooler. Was working perfectly. Ring mv and get a price then let me know what you think. PM if interested.
  8. Cams failed in. Lol. I know you meant dialed, but in the spirit of the current discussion that's kinda funny. The thing is we won't find a neo performing well on a stock turbo, what turbo would you accept for comparison purposes?
  9. Great write up. Congrats on the baby. Your life will hang so much for the better. Seriously you have probably had people tell you that before, once the bub is born you will know what I mean. All the best.
  10. No. It will overheat when it loses enough coolant. It only creates steam when a fair bit is going through. Small leaks don't show up easily. That's why there are test kits available for checking for the precede of exhaust in the coolant.
  11. I'm always surprised how people think a head gasket failing will always mix coolant and oil. Looking at a gasket it's the least likely scenario. There's heaps of coolant galleries and not many for oil. So typically a blown gasket leaks coolant only.
  12. Never mind. It's like a service and tune. No part of it is a tune.
  13. It's spec is that it would very likely be crap.
  14. Exhaust leak can cause a squeal.chrcjk that. A piece of tube next to your ear pointing at stuff works to narrow down leaks. Did you use a new gasket and use the locking tabs?
  15. Why did you think you could fix it? Have you ever fixed similar stuff before? Anyway, does it have an atmo blow off valve?
  16. So why do people pay cash to put VCT onto an rb26? That graph does nothing for your argument that VCT isn't important or matter much on a turbo engine. Surely you have seen the difference with VCT in use? Cam duration and timing is typically a compromise. Variable cam timing of some description takes away part of the compromise.
  17. I can't accept that. Why do manufacturers go to all the trouble of variable cam timing? Of course cam shaft choice is limited due to emissions etc, but to say it doesn't help is nuts.
  18. Boost leaks don't follow rules on what sound to make. Vacuum testing for boost leaks is the opposite of what you should do. Pressure test. Report back.
  19. Good call guys. I dont think you can discount the VCT being a HUGE benefit, and make comparisons the 26 with not only no VCT but also substantially longer inlet runners. Being able to advance the inlet cam and affect overlap by 20 degrees has to make a huge difference. I'm sure you will both be happy with the cams.
  20. Sick build! I think Mike is confused as you posted a picture of the valves and valve guides, then mention valve seats. ( which were fitted to head on next photo) Really looking forward to seeing this one!
  21. I suppose a way of estimating gains based on runner length would be to look at cars or motorbikes which have variable length runners. Then you could tell If 6 mm or so is worthwhile. Im.guessing it's not, in order to get a decent gain it would be in the order of 100 mm Looking forward to seeing how would go with the neo.
  22. Changing to an rb26 head is a definite backwards step, so take that off your list. You must add to the list the auto trans. Even with the power you have now it won't last long You need minimum a shift kit from mv automatics, and preferably their billet second gear servo and a larger trans cooler. Seriously , your trans will die a pretty quick death if you don't sort it out soon.
  23. You are making this harder than it needs to be. PM scotty nm35 and tell him what you want.
