  1. It's not something silly like forgetting to hook up the fpr? That would make for rich running under vacuum
  2. What do you consider big power? There's plenty of guys on the unopened 300 kw club. personally I'm using a stock One because I would prefer that to be the weak link, if that makes sense.

  4. Something weird is happening, as you can normally disconnect the boost sensor and it doesn't have a noticeable effect on running at all.
  5. Maybe it doesn't really achieve anything, but I bash to top of the stock bovs in with a hammer and a socket a little bit to add preload to the spring. Haven't had any issues with leaks and it doesn't cost anything, and in the stock location noone can see you took to it with a hammer!
  6. I had 5400 in my head, but could be confused my understanding with vct is to do a pull with it off then one with it on all the way and where the graph crosses should be set as your switch point.

  9. Oh, and get the Idler and Tensioner from cbc bearings, HEAPS cheaper for the exact same thing, just no nissan box.
  10. What belt did you use? The Gates racing belt is pretty noisy. Did you change the Idler and Tensioner when the belt was done? You really should have, along with replacing the cam seals while it's all apart, even the water pump.

  12. Are you sure they just pulled off the turbo? A Turbo engine with no turbo would be crazy slow due to the lower comp. Also, I didnt think it was actually legal to take the turbo off and drive it as they still consider it a turbo car? Anyways, first step is check the car ever had a turbo on it.
  13. Ok, to update again. Engine went in no worries, I didn't slot the mounts at all. I currently dont have the strut brace on, as it touches on the joiner on the crossover pipe. I think if i use a non TCT throttle body it might clear, or I could space the strut brace up a touch or slot mounts, but honestly at this point I cant be bothered for a bit. The result at the drags was good. The only thing changed was the bottom end. Same crappy HYFLY 225 tyres and still with bike rack on roof! Result was a 1.95 60ft (wow!) with a 12.5 at 108 mph. Mph heaps lower due to power falling off, im not running much timing up top and think cams might need checking, and turbo would be restrictive now, but at the end of the day, its my daily car, and very soon to be family wagon, so Im not chasing max power. Played around shifting to 4th but didnt make much difference as that shift is kinda slow, so any gain is cancelled by the slow shift. The car absolutely hammers on the street and is awesome to drive. Next on the cards is E85 and crank some more preload onto actuator to try and hold boost and see what it can manage, but that probaly will be in a few months, need to sort out some better brakes.

Sorry guys that I didnt realise it wasnt a neo engine from the first post I stand by my comment, if you buy a project you need to know your shit to get it going, other peoples problems are always the hardest to deal with. Anyway, to start fresh and answer your question clearly --- Yes, the FPR not being hooked up would affect your idle. Glad I could help in this situation, and I hope you get the engine running nicely in the other car.

  18. IT IS DEFINITELY A M6x1 Maybe your cas thread hole is stripped. you have a bolt to measure, why dont you meaasure it? Regardless its a m6x1. stop asking what it is!!! also, in relation to your photo you are holding the bolt on an angle, so it wont line up.

  20. Yes that could have something to do with it. It might not be a fpr anyway, neos have vac referenced fuel dampners. And seriously, how cheap wad the car and why did you buy it? If you buy a project with issues you really need to know your sit to fix it.

  23. Also I would say knowing what pinging is and what it sounds like is beneficial.
  24. I'm going to assume head gasket. There's no way I would replace a working head gasket as a preventative measure. What mods have you done? What parts have been replaced?
  25. What gasket are you replacing? There are quite a few.
