Block pcv after catch can install
Ben C34 replied to drifter17a's topic in General Automotive Discussion
The fact there is heaps of blowby shows the rings aren't really doing a good job. comp test while cranking doesn't really show what's happening when revving and making power, which in your case is heaps of blowby. fit the biggest catch can you can -
Block pcv after catch can install

I would agree with dose pipe. a decent larger can will mask the symptoms, but if you are dealing with a lot of blowby on your engine it likely is a bit tired, or been hurt. -
Towards the back of the car, not the front.

Rb25det s2 wont run corekt
Ben C34 replied to TheKenso's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Yellow jackets suck. You don't need to see cracks to realise that when you have experienced it yourself. They can look perfect and not work properly. How they are still around I have no idea. Also just curious how are you managing to spell so badly ? Doesn't your phone do autocorrect? Makes it pretty hard to read.- 29 replies

It's not hate, it's fact. Look at them all you want but don't assume they are actually working properly! 2 years no job is a solid effort- 29 replies

4.5 v at max throttle is normal. 5v sensors showing above 4.5v usually indicates an error of some sort.- 29 replies

Actually I will add to the good info now that I think of it. commodores had different tapped holes in the caliper depending on the year. Can't remember what size or when it changed..... not a dealbreaker but something to keep in mind with brake swaps
-
Very nice . In case people don't realise these are the same as the brembo brakes fitted to VF commodores.

It would be pretty special to get the oil and coolant lines wrong on a turbo but did you? I don't know. My powers aren't that good.

Start a new thread, don't turn this into chat. Anyway, literally the post above yours answers your question. -
RB25DET VS RB25DE NEO head

nope, non turbo neo head has substantially smaller ports. like tiny small -
GOT SUM's RB34

Car looks sweet. It is amazing that they make the gate path like that, considering there is enough space to put a bend in rather than a sharp Junction. -
You are confusing rotating and reciprocating mass. nevertheless the speed at which an engine can increase in revs when it matters, ie accelerating a car, is really dependent on how powerful the engine is, (keeping gear ratio, car weight the same)

Not sure these will intimidate many motorists
Ben C34 replied to PranK's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Imitate? seems like an odd choice, but there are certainly worse choices out there... its got some sweet upgrades. Larger alternator and bespoke wiring loom! wow. -
Slap, this makes no sense. your posts are a mix of sensible helpful statements, confusing bits, and complete nonsense. This for example. if the rpm is the same how on earth can the piston accelerate or decelerate differently with a different compression ratio? the factors deciding piston speed are RPM, stroke, rod length. not compression. not possible.

Toyota Echo/Yaris Coil pack conversion for RB25DET
Ben C34 replied to iMick's topic in Tutorials / DIY / FAQ
Yes you have to bypass the igniter. It’s done by bypassing it -
Well the common consensus is that of run as high of a compression ratio as possible, it is limited by the fuel essentially. It even says that in the link you posted. Higher comp will always drive nicer overall. The bit you may be missing is the dynamic compression the engine sees, Wether it is is made from low comp and more boost or higher comp and less boost the "piston speed" won't be impacted, as it's the same pressure on it in both situations. It's certainly not somehow way worse with higher comp.

ARP timing studs for RB engines
Ben C34 replied to hardsteppa's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I reckon that's overkill, and crazy money. The Nissan stud works, so long as it hasn't been over tightened in its life, so replacing with a new stock one torqued properly makes me comfortable.(uusing stock valve springs) -
You think wrong man. Need to slow down a touch. Ever heard of the Dunning Kruger effect? Should check that out
