Hey all I have a standard R33 series 2 and I want to do it up but nothing crazy mostly for some performance and looks. I am planning three mods which I feel are enough for me but I want to make sure they are ok to do without having to get new fuel pump, injectors,ECU etc. I just want to bolt on 3 things and leave everything else stock and keep my car running good and not decrease the longevity of the engine. The mods I am planning on doing are as follows - 1. Full Turbo back exhaust with split dump and GTR Cat. 2. Hybrid Gt Spec FMIC kit 3. Panel air filter I have been pming one of the members here and he has been great. I just want to see what the rest of the forum has to say. Also another thing I have been told the dreaded heatsoak can come into play when you install an aftermarket Exhaust and FMIC, is this true and would you recommend the application of heat wrap to the Exhaust and FMIC. I think i covered everything I wanted to know. Any help would be great thanks.

Pods And Intercoolers
R33_Series2Lover replied to R33_Series2Lover's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yeh I think i'll just get a K&N panel filter then. -
If you get a larger front mount feeding cold air to the engine and you have a pod air filter does the front mount cold air compensate for the hot air the pod sucks in?? Just something I was wondering??

hey all im going around trying to find a good exhaust to put on my Series 2 R33 and im coming accross heaps of different prices and wondering whats the damn diff?? Australias Best Tyre and Muffler - $1500 3 inch turbo back Hi tech mufflers - $1875 full stainless steel system. Then ive gone to auto barn and trust cat back 80mm item for $880. Is there a big difference between turbo back andd cat back?? Can I get a cat back then later on turn it into a turbo back system? Just trying to justify the price difference. Im your opinion what is a decent price on a exhaust system? Do you think the above prices are a complete rort???

Real Quick And Easy Exhaust Question
R33_Series2Lover replied to R33_Series2Lover's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
how much is this dump pipe from batmobile?? Dont the exhaust places already do this when they put in a turbo back exhaust. -
Hey all excuse the newbie question. Im in the market to buy an exhaust for my R33 series II and Ive come accross two types Cat back and Turbo back exhaust whats the difference price, noise etc?? Also ive seen cars with exhausts and if you look inside the cannon they have these ugly restrictor looking things which I dont want whats with these things? I just want a cannon that is a proper cannon muffler not restricting the exhaust gasses. Any input would be highly appreciated.

hey all a quick one. just want to know the standard size speakers my car has on the front and the rear as I want to replace the crappy stocky's with some after market ones because my head unit has too much power for the stockos and they sound crap.
-
hey all ive got a minor pain in the rear when I first start the car up. The car begins at 1,000 idle then in like a second it goes to 1,500-1,800 then comes back down to 1,000 then warms up and idles normal. No more probs after than just on cold starts what gives?????

Truth Or Urban Legend
R33_Series2Lover replied to R33_Series2Lover's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
So a blitz dual drive BOV on a stock R33 would be what i would need to get so i can have the sound but without the stalling ay. -
cold air box?? Whats that?? Which is better to make sure the car sucks cold not hot air.
-
Thats a pretty cool set up. I want that cool pod filter sound but am scared of the whole sucks more hot air than cold. Having a heat shield is this the answer? Are the any problems that may arise from having a pod filter and then installing a 3inch exhaust?? My car is stock engine wise. Just want the roar of the exhaust and the cool sound of the Pod

Truth Or Urban Legend
R33_Series2Lover replied to R33_Series2Lover's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Exhaust pops ay. So your backfiring. I guess you would need to adjust the tension thingos. I was reading on the GFB website this is the case. So I can attach my Stealth FX BOV even though my car is stock then. but it needs to have the majority of the air going through the plumback side and only abit to the atmo side. I also need to make sure that I tighten the spring valves also. Am i sort of going along the right track. If i can reattach my BOV and go to the exhaust .place and get an exhaust done i'll be a very happy man. Damn cold when I first warm up my car and start to drive when its a heaps cold night I always have white smoke coming from the rear at the first traffic lights Im thinking its the cold and hot air meeting but whats the mystery to me is why does it only happen then and when I drive around its all good at the other lights. Its still the same hot air meeting the cold air. I find it quite strange. -
Truth Or Urban Legend

Nah man im not doing this to impress little girls. Im doing it because I like the sound of a BOV with an exhaust. Wank factor?? So many people have em just let them be I guess. I just want a simple 3 inch system with a BOV. Where's the crime? at the moment I have a brand new GFB stealth which i had installed but damn thing made my car stall. I can adjust the springs or whatever there called but not to sure how to do it. So i figured id by a HKs ssq as ive heard some peeps with it without a prob. Can it be done? -
Truth Or Urban Legend
R33_Series2Lover replied to R33_Series2Lover's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
is there anyways bypassing the stalling or rough idle scenario? Or is it just a given?? I want a no problems set up which includes a hks ssq bov and a 3 inch turbo back for the extra power. Ive been told the hks has some special mechanism which prevents stalling or any other probs. In other words how can i get this setup to run problem free or is this just something I cant have but somehow others have achieved. -
I tried using the search option but I would get a error message everytime. Is it truth or urban legend that you cannot have a atmo blow of valve on a R33 skyline gts-t when the car is stock? Im asking because im hearing all these conflicting stories. I went to the autosalon and I saw a skyline that was stock engine wise all is had was a 3 inch turbo back exhaust and a hks ssq blow off valve, the owner wasnt there i would have loved to ask him how he did it without the car running funny or stalling. This is the kind of simple set up id love to have but ive been told awww you got to have a front mount, you would need to change your fuel pump. Are these just b.s statements. Or can i have my car running 100% fine with just a exhaust and a ssq bov ( i love the sound). I have a gfb stealth but when i had it installed the car kept stalling so i took it off. Can a skyline have a bov without the car running funny or stalling with just a exhaust or do you need to do other mods. Sorry im sure this has been covered but I cant find anything to help me here.

now u got me all worried. I didnt even think about it because it was only during warm up after that its cool. I did tell the guy about the smoke and he said it was because my throttle positioning switch was tampered with. But when I warm up the car some smoke comes out not as much as before butnot to sure if it is infact condensation
-
Cool yeh im going to research i did the mistake once of putting a BOV and the car stalled and I had all sorts of probs. Yeh and with the smoke its a Whitey/dark kind of smoke but only during warm ups. I called the mechanic now and said its probs condensation or just buring extra fuel when warming car up. He told me though if the smoke is blue then start looking for a new engine. never knew smoke could go blue. I had my cars ecu plugged into a console and car isnt running very rich so thats cool.
-
Yeh i'll get a full service done before hand. Ive had the car for a year now, It was quick when I got it but i think ive gotten use to the power. Im still very happy with the way it is now but i like the look of the exhaust,FMIC and the turbo sound the engine makes when on boost. So a K&N panel filter are better than pods i read the exact same thing in hot4's. Gives out a sucking sound? Is it anyway close to the sound of a pod or blow off valve? I hate the loud psst sound but a nice subtle sound similar is what would be nice. Im not so sure about the bleed valve though and increasing boost because boost would already be increased by the exhaust anyways wouldn't it. Then I need to look at engine management like power fc and also a fuel cut defender. Gets too messy i want something simple. Yeh a dyno tune would be a must. Ok so far on my shopping list is - Turbo back exhaust -FMIC (Im going to get a Hybrid R33 kit) - K&N panel filter. - 1 hour dyno tune So from what I gathered this would give me the look and sound im after right? Oh and quickly on a cold start is it normal for the car to begin revving at 1,000rpm for like a couple of seconds then rise quick to like 1,500 then after a good warm up returning to the normal idle range? Smoke comes out of the exhaust when warming up but is good once warm is this normal also. Sorry for the tonnes of questions.
