Is it just me or do people who cant drive for sh#% think to themselves... "I'm going to reverse into alot of stuff, cut people off and pay more attention to whats in the back seat than the road. I think i'll buy a 3000kg car so when I f#%$ up I cause alot of damage". This thread is to voice your opinions and experiences with 4WD/SUV drivers and their bad habits / utterly stupid driving. Let me just add this is not a dig at farmers who need the cars for work, etc. This is against the urban SUV drivers who's idea of going off road is jumping a kerb to get a parking spot. Lets first address the reason SUV owners use to justify having such an impractical car for CITY driving. 1. "I need a large car because I have a large family". Have these people never heard of station wagons or people movers? 2. "I drive in the country sometimes". This is as stupid a reason as someone who lives in the outback buying a toyota echo for when they come to the city. Also I would point these people in the direction of crossover vehicles such as subarus that can go off road but yet still are safe to drive around cities. 3. "4WD/SUV's are safer". Yes maybe in a front on for its occupants but will more than likely kill the people in the other car. SUV's are more likely to roll over, injuring or killing the occupants when they are t-boned or lose control of the vehicle. 4. "You sit higher so road visibility is better". Yes maybe for you. The car behind you can only see your big ugly vehicle. Another selfish reason for having a 4WD. 5. "I need a big car to tow a caravan/trailer". Now this is definitely a reason for having a 4WD. They are the only type of vehicle that has a decent powered engine and come with an option of a tow bar arent they? So please people feel free to bitch and moan here about SUV's like I have just done. Or if you are a 4WD owner please attempt to defend yourself but be reminded this is an Anti 4WD thread so you will be cut down, spat on and cyber bashed.

This whole merge thing in Perth irritates me. In sydney, when two lanes goes into one, the left lane just simply ends and it is the responsibility of the slower drivers in the left lane to get across to the right lane. It works so much better than giving way. One lane has right of way so people in the left lane have to give way. This would never work in Perth tho as slow drivers pretty much always sit in the right lane. As for merging here I think ban 4WD's and itll go smoothly. They've all got the attitude that bigger cars get right of way. Some person on the weekend asked if I wanted to enter a draw to win a pajero and I said to them point blank - "No thanks I dont want a child killer". Actually I am now contemplating starting a anti-4WD rant now.

Akitas have the highest biting pressure out of any dog breed. Pit bulls are second in this category at an average bite pressure of 900psi. Akita's have been known to have as high as 2300psi bite pressure when fully grown. Very protective breed. Originally bred as a fighting dog. shares more genes with wild bears than any other breed. But if u raise them right it doesnt matter about the breed. Ive got a rotti cross shar pei and she is like a teddy bear around people. Will run around and play with all dogs but yet still fearless against next door's pitt bull (i mean mastiff cross as it says on the books).

Speaking of suspension what is with the prices of lowering a car in Perth? I wanna get my gf's car lowered (Lowering my car would be a waste of time coz you cant improve on the perfect handling of a stock charade). On my call arounds I've had quotes from 500 up to 700+ dollars just for a set of kings or whatever and an install. (Pedders you should be ashamed of yourself $700!!!) OK a set of king springs will cost about 200 bucks and its probly about a two hour job to do all four (mcpherson setup). And OK they may factor in a wheel allignment once the springs are settled. Back In sydney I use to get lowering for 300 bucks using lovells or kings and even pedders charged $390. When I got the springs installed on my old 'line (which ofcourse is more difficult because u have to pull out the back seat etc) it was $80 for just fitting. Is it just me or is Perth still small enough that there is no competition and anyone who deals in the "aftermarket" thinks they can print their own money like these morons that think rebuilding a turbo is an "art form" so charge movie star rates to do so. So re-phrasing my question where can I lower a car for not a lot of money?

I am from Sydney and Ive been in Perth now a little over a year (I can actually afford a house here - at the expense of my 'line *sob*). Now these are the things Ive noticed since living here. 90% of Perth drivers I warn should never drive in Sydney. Sit 10kms below the limit on any road, sit in the right hand lane for too long, or take off from a set of traffic lights slower than the maximum acceleration your car can go then you risk being seriously hurt. Drivers there are not only crazy, they are crazy! Most Perth "P" plater hoons would get ran off the road by a senior citizen! Now next is the whole 2 lanes 2 cars at a traffic lights problem. Picture this - you roll up to a red light where there is two lanes with one car in each lane. You try to pick which one will take off faster because you are in a bit of a rush. There is an Ford XR8 sitting next to a hyundai excel. Which one do you sit behind? Answer - You pop too many sleeping pills to put urself out of ur mysery because you know they will both take off like snails. Seriously people I drive a Charade - Every car is faster than mine. If I am tail gating you during take off it is because you do not know the pedal on the right is the accelerater! Now the other thing I have noticed that hasnt been mentioned (I agree with everything else in this thread) Is those people who sit 20km below the limit on roads like gnangara. 70km in a 90 zone is not acceptable but this is not my main problem. When stuck behind someone like this I do the only human thing - overtake them which is what causes the problem. There are idiots out there that get offended by overtaking (I'd get offended if I got overtaken by a charade too!) so when you have passed them they flash there high beams and beep there horn because no one should go faster than 20kms below the limit in their minds. I usually slow down to about 40 in front of them just to show them how it feels and to let them know that it aint some chick driving the car its actually some big scary bloke. oh one more - Those idiots that dont use a right indicator to turn right at a round about. And you almost run into them and they raise their hands at you like "be more careful" when its their fault! Man I'm getting angry writing in this post! *happy thoughts Daniel, happy thoughts* I really need to leave now...

ill have to set my 8 track to record it...

if you're driving from east only plan to get 98 octane at port augusta... no other towns have it on the way... although most places have premium... also when i did it 3 months ago nullabor was $1.43 per litre so take cash... u shouldnt need geri cans aslong as u dont use the "ive got a quarter tank... ill make it to the next town" as it may be 3 hrs away...

yes my R33 suffered from the fogged head lights desease that many 33's do... Ive heard stories about plastic polish doing the job but I dont just have that laying around the house... I tried all house hold items like jiff etc... and they just made it worse... then I heard what sounded like an old wives tale... toothpaste... I thought "why not... they cant get any worse..." on went the toothpaste with a expensive applicater (my finger)... waited til it dried... then off it came with a clean rag aswell as all the fog... my headlights look brand new... give it a try!!! is there anything toothpaste cant do???

they bought in that whole taking your car off you thing in sydney ages ago for doing burnouts or street racing... people kept getting their cars back by going to court so now i dont think they do it anymore... NSW law says that to be considered a burnout the wheels need to be smoking for more than 8 seconds... coz u cant exactly call chirping 2nd gear a burnout... im sure cops here will use the new laws to flex their authority muscles... to avoid it all i suppose just dont drive like a dickhead... let them bust all the bogans in falcadores...

i got a great idea... buy my car and put that kit on it... its already got more kick ass wheels... its already the same colour and its turbo... more importantly its for sale... other than that nice choice in kit and madest colour ever

ok now idle is still going funny... but i take the panel filter out and it purrs beautifully... its a brand new filter but its like its having trouble sucking through it... anyone had this problem??? even though my skyline is probably the only totally standard mechanically skyline in here... lifted the idle which stopped it trying to stall out and reset ecu (twice) which helped a little but its still better with no filter at all...
-
all good now found it and reset the ecu... seems to have fixed the problem... thanks

does anyone know how to lift the idle speed on a R33 GTST? Was idling around 600 rpm with a pod filter which is a bit low but now I have changed back to a standard filter and the revs have dropped a little and now its sort of wanting to stall but then lifts the revs to compensate. This means the engine speed lifts then drops every few seconds which is pretty annoying. I think lifting the idle speed should fix this. Anyone know how? The car is stock, no mods, not even an exhaust.

For Sale 1994 R33 GTST S1 turbo original 68,000 kms Gunmetal Grey with sunroof mechanically standard (did not want an ex-jap thrash car) professionally lowered 18 x 8 shadow chrome pearl wheels (one of a kind on a skyline... same as new monaro GTO wheels... licencing had these taken off the market shortly after purchase) Tyres - 225/40/18 ZR (front) 265/35/18 ZR (rear) good tread Basically i bought the car a year ago in sydney from a very well known imported with a great reputation with only 46,000 kms on it totally standard. The only mods I have done to the car are the wheels, suspension and nismo clear blinkers. I did not modify the engine as reliability is a must and lets face it they go great standard. August last year was the first time it has been registered in Aus (complied May 2003). Since then the car has not missed a beat. Driven 3800 kms in 4 days to get to perth and ran perfect. I have serviced this every 5000 kms using mobile 1 and had a major fluid change at 61,000. Car has only been in perth for under 2 months and did attend the last club cruise to York. I dont really want to sell this as it is a great car. However travel arrangements changing to work and saving for a house means I no longer need it (will have to make due with the GF's 2003 corolla). Currently is registered in NSW but will be transfered to WA registration before selling. Car is located for viewing at Queens Park and also at Joondalup on certain days. Please email me at [email protected] and I will give out my contact number. PERTH BUYERS ONLY. Asking price: $23,000 neg
