I just bought two 255/40/17's re540's for $590 all up. not too expensive really....then you see how long they last and go...hmmmm maybe they are. not sure how long for pure track...mine last about 10-12 thousand kms on the road...most of the wear comes from the three or four hard drive days at reefton spur etc...just around town the are fine, if you are judicous with the wheelspin. I also run 2.5 degrees of camber on the front, if you ran .5 or 1 they would last a bit longer too. Once you have had them you wont go back! Russ

Strut braces obviously stiffen the car. This is a good thing if you have the suspension to match...if not then sometimes the flex can actually work to your advantage rather than to your detriment. Skylines are also quite stiff in stock form when compared with a commodore or a falcon for example, especially in the rear sections. I would suggest that your money may be better spent than a rear strut brace..... If however you have too much money and are stuck with what to do with it....different story....rear strut brace does look good when the boot is open. Cheers Russ

I was actually planning to use a toyota supercharger off 4agze..it has inbuilt clutch etc which I thought would be easy to switch on and off when needed. It almost bolts straight onto the A/Con bracket and it is smallish. I am concerned about oil supply etc as maybe it has to be orientated a certain way. Also maybe it will be a bit small, after reading some of the previous posts ...maybe a bigger blower is warranted??? Ahhh it is also very cheap..already have one. May be the deciding factor I thought it would be better run in parrallel with turbo not in series, but may change my mind, just wasn't sure how in series the blower wouldnt blow out the exhaust...I guess you would just have another valve...alot of valves though... You said you have done in series and it worked well....could you give a brief description of how it was layed out etc... Thanks, Russ

hmmm.. Yes yes and...yes.... I have no A/Con so that should make life easier...I can easily fit the blower to the A/Con braket for belt tension etc.... All sounds too easy, just have to make the pipe..I have done the calculations for this already.... Just have to wait until I can have the car off the road for a week or so... Will let you know how it goes...probably have many more queries etc....I am considerably less then competant with anything involving electrons providing current...many fires have been started due to my incompetance hehehe... Cheers and thanks for the help, Russ

Hi, I have looked into this a bit for an rb20det. Almost to the point of doing it. The issues I thought were needing to be overcome are issues such as blower compressing air at low rpm and pushing it backwards out the turbo rather than through the engine. You may need some sort of a control valve to control this, also finding the correct rpm point to switch the blower off. Does the engine management system have enough scope to provide enough fuel at low rpm given the huge increase in power you would get from idle? I guess you can run two filters for intakes, and I gather that afms generally are just a cumulative voltage type arrangement therefore you could just wire the one from the blower and the one feeding the turbos together and feed that in to the management system. I wonder if you might be better off removing the turbo and just put a blower on, you would smoke everyone in traffic because you have instant power from so low down..... Cheers, Russ

Hi, Ive been on this list for a while and feel it is about time I asked for a favour .... I would dearly like to try some r32 gtr wheels on my gtst....I have been told all sorts of crap about whether they fit etc yes and about offset and numerous other issues, track width etc .... I was hoping someone in melbourne who has these wheels might be kind enough to let me try them on... I dont want to drive with them on..just want to take a few photos and do some quick measurements... Thankyou for listening to my lame-ass pleading, Cheers, Russ

The diff is a viscous centre and cannot be shimmed as far as I know... I have a spare r200 for a r32 gtst manual...it is the standard 4.3:1 ratio...it probably works at about 75 % of a new one. Cheers, Russ

r32 gtst for sale in Melbourne . . .
Ender replied to Ender's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
cooler is off a 32GTR is in excellent condition. is soft mounted with aluminium and nolathane. have one tein c spanner, easy to get another, can just use an adjustable c spanner from tool shop... am getting better plumbing for the intercooler across the front of the engine as I have removed the engine fan and the other plumbing was too rough, will get a thermo fan for it too...although it has never shown any sign of overheating, better safe than sorry though. I have no more photos sorry. It would probably be more useful if you saw the car...I can easily bring it for you to have a look. I know this sounds dodgy cause I have a car to sell but the r32 gts-t is a really fantastic car and you will never regret getting one. If you have any further questions maybe you should call me..0414877472 or email, [email protected] so we dont use more space etc on the website. Cheers, Russ -

I have used a detector in Victoria now for many years and have never been pulled up for it...ever. Most of them are useless for speed cameras as they only alert quite close to the camera...but better for guns. They have saved my hide a couple of times... All this is not scientific..only personal experience. Cheers. Russ

HI there, I have used both tyres on different cars, I don't have data as they are different cars ....however, get the dunlop get the dunlop get the dunlop They are so much better than azenis. They have a far higher level of grip when warm, they wear slightly quicker but are far superior on the limit too. Azenis are not really a race tyre, they were not good enough for race thats why they are available more as a road tyre, but they are useless as a road tyre as they never get warm unless you do a really hard run for 10km plus...ie up reefton spur for those of you in melbourne...and when they are cold they are less grippy than a normal good qualkity road tyre. They do however have a nice stiff sidewall and are predictable. Cheers, Russ
