great thread.
I'm thinking about a stagea myself. I've done a fair bit of research but can't seem to find running costs of a stagea.
I want to purchase one and just drive it as is, no modifications.
Are they higher maintenance than your average family car? If so is it possible to specify..
Parts: body & mechanical - readily available?
Reliability: They seem to have a fairly good name among enthusiasts, but i've noticed enthusiasts tend to have a blind love and overlook the times their car needs to be off the road..
I've read buyers guide etc.. but your thoughts would be good on general reliability - sorry to hijack the thread, but i didnt want to start another 'new to stagea' topic :-)
regards
David
love your work! Im not quite sure if i like the tinted front lenses, but anyhow they seem to suit the rest of the styling
I've got some inspiration now to put some money aside for my 300c once i can drive again.
thanks- i'll keep it in mind when i call around. depending on prices i get i might even try to get the engine/trans combo as i cant see the transmission going much further either at 350,000km hehe
Well the car isnt at my house at the moment, partly because there is no space and partly to prevent me driving it but maybe this summer come around and we'll compare
I'm actually trying to source a motor for it at the moment, as the timing belt pulley bearing broke and i got a new pulley and belt put on it but its had a miss in it since- im thinking maybe a bent valve somewhere..
i got a quote at 660 but that particular wreckers didnt have any in stock. i might ring the one in centre road, see how many kms are on the one u mentioned..
No this one is still alive and kicking..
Well its alive, but not really kicking as i havent had a licence for a while now. I hope to be back driving it by november.
Which wreckers was it..? (just incase i need anything off it )
yeah i bought it of a dealer my friend knew who said it was traded in by some old bloke, so i got a pretty good price as they probably took it off his hands for next to nothing
Just thought i'd post up a picture of my 1984 300c. I'm pretty happy with it so far (had it for 8 months) - and i've only seen 2 -3 others around Melbourne during that time. It runs the vg30e motor with a 4 speed auto. Gets up to 100 around the 10 sec mark, and handles really well too.
Might do some sort of engine conversion later on, or just lower it slightly and give it a fresh paint job.
i wish i could take the one off my r33 its just an mpsec spoiler, but i think it would look too messy from close up due to the edges of the guards, tho i like the low boot lid look :s
are they that easy to get on and off? i was pretty sure if it came standard there was glue as well as bolts..
Yeah i love those doors. might be a bit too much "look at me" for every day use, shopping etc. But they certainly look really cool! and for bolt on hinges 1500, no mods needed its great.
